Il Caminetto Whistler Reviews
Great Dinner
Very much enjoyed our experience at Il Caminetto. The setting was comfortable, & quaint with a friendly and diverse atmosphere. The food was delicious, several great options. And the service was wonderful… our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive. Would definitely recommend to others and would go again.
Memorable Dining Experience
Our girl's weekend away in Whistler Village was complete as IL Caminetto offered the three of us the absolute best patio dining/people watching view on our last evening. Lindsay, our consummate server, was well versed in wine selection and entree recommendation, the lobster pasta accompanied with focaccia bread was to die for, we will be returning
great set menu

So special
II caminetto made our family so happy and created unforgettable memories. The food was awsome and the service at the restaurant especially the waitress(Stephanie ) was amazing. Thank you!!
Spectacular Italian food and staff
We visited Il Caminetto in Sept, 2025 in the mood for good Italian in Whistler village. We were so impressed, we went back the following evening and were equally impressed. Without reservations the first night, they seated us at the bar with Lisa taking care of us. We ordered drinks, wine and the Wagu Meatballs appetizer. The meatballs are delicious bites. My "Canadian" Manhattan was perfect. Dinner was Lobster Fettuccine and Veal Scaloppini. While the veal was delicious, the Lobster Fettuccine arrived with more lobster than I've ever been served at a restaurant, short of a whole lobster dinner. Flavorful, perfectly cooked homemade fettuccine; wow, just wow. Topped-off with an Espresso Martini, and it was an evening to remember. The next evening, even with reservations, we asked to again be seated at the bar. (why mess with a good thing!?) Tonight it was Bolognese and Branzino. The Bolognese was fantastic, and the Branzino cooked perfectly with nice veggies. Simply, the food and service here was, for us, perfect. I'm not one to offer-up such praise unless it's earned. Thanks, we'll be back.
We went here a few years back when it first opened and we
We went here a few years back when it first opened and we had a mixed experience with food and service - glad we decided to try again as it was exceptional! We were sat in a lovely cozy booth near a fire place which worked well for me as I currently have a broken leg and it was easy to navigate! Service was exceptional throughout as was the food! We began with woke cocktails and some smaller plates: Delicious warm olives, one of the best burrata dishes I have ever had with the freshest local tomatoes. A delicious dish and out of the world squid!! We then shared an amazing lobster, saffron linguine which was one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had! Perfect start to our Whistler anniversary trip!!
Absolutely Exquisite Experience for our Anniversary Celebration
From the moment we arrived in Whistler, everyone mentioned that we need to eat dinner at Il Caminetto. The one time I did not plan ahead and make reservations - a major mistake! Despite the hotel unable to get us a reservation - we decided to stop by the night before and were so lucky to meet Makela, the hostess. We explained it was our anniversary weekend and she graciously squeezed us in for Saturday night. She was there when we arrived and made sure that we had a beautiful table and great experience. Special thanks also to Dave, our waiter. He went out of his way to accommodate my husband's allergies. And the food - what can I say - it was phenomenal. My husband highly recommends the prosciutto and melon and the lobster pasta (made special because of his allergy). I had to try the meatball appetizer, which was so delicious. Then, I had the pasta bolognese, with homemade pasta that was so tasty. Dave also recommended the Blood Orange spritzer, which was so good. And last but not least, their homemade sour dough and focaccia bread is beyond delicious. Between the staff and the food, this is the restaurant to go to while in Whistler. But don't do what I did - make a reservation in advance! It is so worth it.
great evening at il caminetto
Came here for a birthday dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the great food, ambiance and service. would definitely come back!
Wonderful night at Il Caminetto
It was our first family trip to Whistler and wanted to make it special. My sister highly recommended Il Caminetto as the place to go to in Whistler and to make reservations right away. Il Caminetto did not disappoint! Great ambience, friendly and accommodating staff and spacious seating. Our server Gordon was fantastic and took great care of us. His suggestions for food, drinks and desserts were spot on. From the focacia bread to the freshly made pasta and the selection of drinks was all made perfectly. The best pasta ever! Kudos to the chef and staff for making such an amazing night! Il Caminetto is a place you don't want to miss on your stay in Whistler :)
Good but not exceptional
Beautiful with white tablecloths = fabulous decor! Very good, professional service. Good wine list. Blistered peppers and the bolognese very good.
Hands down the best in the Village!
The best Italian restaurant in Whistler hands down. Everything we had was excellent - the standout dishes were the lobster tagliatelle and halibut (cooked to perfection) and the caesar salad is like no other! Looking forward to the next meal at the end of our trip again.
What a gem to find in Whistler.
The food was amazing, and the service was on point. We bypassed the line that was out the door by electing to sit at the bar where the bartender had the best recommendations.
Gorgeous restaurant.
Food was disappointing honestly. Stingy on the bread. They give you one piece each. Lobster saffron linguine was recommended and what they are "known for". I was hoping for way more flavor. It fell flat. Bland. Wagyu meatballs, good, not amazing. Halibut also fell flat. Also bland. This was our anniversary dinner and the flavor of our meals was disappointing. Not worth the price at all. Service was excellent. Tiramisu was also excellent. Wine was great.
Food was adequate.
Service was bad. Wine was a con. The GM and "sommelier" were condescending, incorrect, and unnecessarily aggressive. The "somm" claimed that "there is no difference between sauvignon blanc and chardonnay except the oak, the grapes are the same," (a fact I didn't even bother to argue with because it was already clear that he was on the defense as soon as he came to our table, and I still don't know why). He then proceeded to say that he "doesn't drink any of the wine on the menu himself" and then served us a $125 bottle of cheap italian white with a screw top that tasted so cheap and sour that I googled it while sitting at the table to find that it retailed at $20. When I pointed this out to the GM, that as customers we chose to buy a $100+ bottle because we expected some reasonable minimum level of quality, he said that he "didn't understand why we were bothered." 600% markup is offensive, as is serving cheap lighter-fluid tasting wine with a $50 lobster pasta. I was bothered because their racket of selling bottom shelf cheap wine as high end pairings to lobster pasta is bordering on a con, and the level of unreasonable aggression from the somm, ranging from his condescending and incorrect comments about the basics of wine to bringing the wrong bottle (one that cost $120 on their menu and retailed at $22, I also checked that one to see if that was somehow part of the con), then serving the screwtop of the cheap wine with his hand on top of the bottle so we couldn't see it was a screw top until he'd already opened and poured it. It was like being in the presence of a confidence trickster from the 50s. There are a number of better restaurants in whistler that serve real food and real wine with reasonable and non-con markups and without so-called "sommeliers" who are only in it to sell wine they don't even drink themselves at a 600% markup. Diners who care about not being fleeced should go literally anywhere else.
The food and th service at this restaurant were remarkable.
The servers go through extra steps to make sure you feel taken care of. The ambiance inside and outside was wonderful. The food was delicious. I ordered the seafood pasta which was kind of like an Italian paella and I recommend it for seafood lovers.
Decided to try this Italian restaurant and it was fabulous.
Had the breaded meatballs as an appetizer, and then split some pasta and finally ended with the halibut. Everything was very tasty and the waitress was outstanding. I think her name was Sabrina.
I was in Whistler for conference and so I made reservations
I was in Whistler for conference and so I made reservations at some of the restaurants recently recognized as among the best in Whistler according to Vancouver magazine. It included Il Caminetto. We had dinner reservations for 7pm. We arrived early but they gladly seated us early. It was midweek, so they had space. It's a sleek, modern space. I wouldn't expect less from a Top Table Group restaurant. I had looked up the prix fixe menu on their website before arriving, and I noticed was different than what was presented when we arrived. The online menu was $44 and had four courses, but the one presented to us was $49 for 3 courses. Still a fantastic deal. I noted that the website did update 2 days later to match. I tried the following: - Octopus - Excellent. It was the soffritto and white bean puree that are the real stars of this dish. - Beet and Burrata Insalata - Very good. I'm not much of a beet person, but the vinaigrette made the beets surprisingly good. - Duck Breast - Very good. Duck was cooked just to the right doneness. - Tagliatelle Bolognese - Very good. Pasta was the perfect texture. Sauce was delicious. - Lemon Bomba - Good. Wasn't sure what to expect, but was very happy with it. - Tiramisu - Very good. I could taste a little more liqueur was used than in most recipes Service was solid. No issues. Overall, a very good experience. Very good quality food, string service at incredible prix fixe value. I would definitely return.
We love TopTable Group, and as always, they hit it out of
We love TopTable Group, and as always, they hit it out of the park. It was my first time at this particular restaurant and I am already looking forward to coming back again - the food and service were exceptional, and the ambiance was perfect. Would not change a thing!
Had dinner here on Thursday night.
This restaurant was offering a $44 CAD four course option - an amazing value. The portions were huge! The restaurant was packed so we sat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. Dinner started with a huge basket of bread with selections to choose from. Our next course was opted for the olives and the hummus. Both delicious. The next course we had the minestrone and the mushroom risotto. These both had very good flavor but were so rich. I should have stopped there! I had the polenta and couldn't even finish half of it. Luckily our room had a microwave so my husband was able to eat it the next day. He had the halibut which I tried and was very fresh. For the dessert I made some room for the Hazelnut Bomba. It was AMAZING! I tired to finish it all but sadly had to leave a couple of bites. Great restaurant in the heart of Whistler village with very nice decor.
One of those meals you think about for a while after you
One of those meals you think about for a while after you leave. The lobster linguine is to die for!! Every dish was such a treat to enjoy and a lovely combination of flavors. Servers were attentive and gave great recommendations and insights. Definitely book a reservation beforehand. Small warning that even with a reservation, we did wait more than 10 minutes to be seated but we did go during a busy dinner rush. Highly recommend and hope to visit again.
