SUYO Modern Peruvian Vancouver Reviews
First Try of Peruvian Food - Give Me More!
We came here for my husband’s birthday and it was phenomenal — one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. This was our first experience with Peruvian cuisine and it blew us away. We started with cocktails (Chilcano for me, Threads for my husband) and scallop ceviche that was insanely fresh. Shared a few small plates — the beef tartare, octopus, and morcilla sliders — all bursting with flavor. The duck arroz con pato was rich, perfectly cooked, and memorable. Dessert (lucuma crème brûlée) was balanced and creative with great textures. Every dish felt familiar at its core but had a unique twist that made it exciting. Zak, our server, made excellent recommendations and was very attentive. Absolutely recommend.
Definitely worth the Michelin star
My husband made a reservation for us during our visit to Vancouver. The 2 of us rarely have a dinner out alone as we visit Vancouver to see family and friends but we decided to treat ourselves to a “date night”. Jackson was our server. He explained all items, made suggestions and was very attentive to my tree nut allergies (not a problem with their menu). We started with pisco sours which were very good. I had to have a second. We shared many items and I cannot say which one was “the best”. An exceptional dining experience
The Mineral Alone Is Worth the Visit
We were very impressed by the cocktail menu and began the evening with two signature drinks—The Mineral was truly outstanding: unique, complex, and anything but ordinary. Tempted by the menu, we probably ordered more than we should have, but it was worth it. The highlights for us were the grilled baby gem lettuce and one of their on-the-menu ceviche, both beautifully prepared and full of flavor. A good dining experience overall.
The beef tenderloin was tasty and delicious
The beef tenderloin and the charcoal grilled white asparagus were delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive and provided us a top-notch customer experience.
Good stuff
We have been here three times with different friends. The first time, we were overwhelmed how delicious and flavorful the dishes were. The other times, we also tried different items and really enjoyed but not as good as the first time. Family style sharing is how best to enjoy. The cecviche, duck, antichucheros, and halibut are particularly good. The service was excellent.
Fantastic night at Suyo Modern Peruvian
This place was recommended to us by a trusted foodie...they weren't wrong. The space is inviting, busy with good energy. Staff is on point from the moment you walk, they don't miss a beat. The food was incredible, a lot of thought goes into these dishes, our all had a great story behind them. The Chef came to our table a couple of times to walk us through the dishes, he's also the owner and a fantastic host. We thoroughly recommend.
Amazing
Absolutely amazing. Expensive but it’s a real food experience. We took the chef menu it was really good.
to load and not really ethnic
#1- back room is small and when all 6 tables are occupy it is getting VERY loud there. Service was great ! Food.....we had Ceviche, halibut and scallop both very good, next King salmon with crispy quinoa....salmon was excellent but I hardly noticed quinoa.....maybe they forgot to add it, asparagus with purple yams....same hardly noticed purple yams and salad was nothing at all. Then we order beef tenderlion $91.00 per plate....nothing new in taste we were never even asked how we liked it was done to well and just with some pepper and looked like steamed quarters of tomatoes that were with seeds and skin. Dessert pear was nothing special in taste but passion fruit dessert was great! We were never asked for food allergies (and we do expect that in higher class of the restaurants) Price for one person of tasting menu is $189 !!!!+ tip ( Michelin restaurant we visited last week menu was $125 per person) So all together I would say not real ethnic Peruvian food and crazy expensive !!!! Water was tasting like chlorine.....loud bill for two over $350.00
Interesting concept
Service was attentive and friendly. Menu was interesting with a nice cocktail menu but extremely pricey. Ceviche was mixed-one dish was great but the other was not. (Fish was not a great cut and chewy. ) Cooked fish was ok and for the price tag it should not have been better.
Excellent food and service!
Excellent food! Excellent service. Tera was wonderful and made our dining experience very special.
