Shabu Park City Reviews
We had made a reservation just in case because we heard
We had made a reservation just in case because we heard it's usually pretty busy, it is a small space so reservations definitely make it easier. Our group all ordered sushi rolls and some sake. The rolls I had were pretty good and some different flavors from some I usually have. Really enjoyed the cilantro in the Cost roll and then the yellow widow had a hint of citrus with almost like a lemon zest. Both rolls were a refreshing taste and full of favor. The service was good as well, our waiter was more than patient as we tried to figure out drinks and food and offered info as we asked. Would definitely come back!

I have no idea how this place could ever receive a rating of less than 5 stars. The food is absolutely amazing and the service is even better. Love the crew at Shabu!

Decided to come for our anniversary dinner and it was a unique experience for sure! It's a basement restaurant in PC so definitely small. To the point I waited about two minutes after my wife sat down due to waiting on a waitress to take the order of a different table, then was bumped into probably 10+ times the rest of the night. Not the best layout. After sitting we did wait about 10 minutes for the waitress, seemed a bit unorganized. Food was delightfully unique. We wanted something outside a typical fancy steakhouse and this ticked the boxes. Edamame was a bit overpriced IMO, even for PC. We got the Wagyu hot rock, it was flavorful and a fun experience, not the best wagyu I've ever had but that's probably due to the thin cuts not the lack of quality. Wife loved her sushi. We also got the bao buns and they were fantastic. Overall a unique eatery I'd recommend to anyone looking for a special eats for their Park City trip

Great people and great food! We got a bottle of sake x2, tons of appetizers to share, the black cod; you cannot miss this, and yellow tail collar. It was all fantastic! This is not to be missed! It's a smaller place, but they fit lots of table and people in when needed. Adorable Park City decor and fun metal work. The bao buns are my second fav behind the black cod. You gotta visit this place!
Second Trip to Shabu, Better than the first visit
The food is amazing. We always order the Wagyu on the Hot Rock. We also had the Gyoza. Service and Staff are always on point and never disappoint
The most delicious vegan sushi roll I have ever eaten.
The flavors were incredible. The margaritas were also fantastic. We also really enjoyed our server.
This place is so fun for group lunches.
All you can eat buffet style shabu! The service is always great and I always leave full and happy!
Fun creative sushi spot
Besides sitting us 30 minutes later than our reservation bc it was so crowded, the service and food were great. Kids really liked it. Lots of energy. Delicious sushi, ramen and fun drinks for kids. Dessert was also very good. A fun family spot.
Hole in the wall place.
Literally you had to find their sign and walk down to the basement. We made our reservation for 7pm and was seated right away. It was super crowded and loud. Also, they should replace their kitchen exhaust fans as it was overwhelming. However, once food arrived, we were in haven. Had pork buns, freestyle edamame, half/half wagyu on hot stone, pot stickers, and few deserts. Half/half wagyu was a hit. Definitely a must try. Love the small servings/plates options. This is must for us whenever we return to Park City
I may be the first person who has let the hostess know that
I may be the first person who has let the hostess know that "Reservations guys?" is not a greeting for guests. That, in addition to team members stepping on guests shoes without saying excuse me, and walking through groups of people patiently waiting to be "greeted" by the hostess without saying excuse me. I'm glad this place was reservation only and that we didn't get the absolute pleasure and distinct honor of being able to be served by these incredibly polite and courteous team members!!!!! I'm sure I wouldn't have had a single mishap if we did eat there!!!!
I am a fellow restaurant in Parkcity.
.. This is the best restaurant in terms of quality and uniqueness. If you're lucky enough to get into this place, you're in for a tree on top of the quality and greatness is pricing similar to four years ago KEVIN and his brother had absolutely done an amazing job moving to Park City decades ago from Chicago Just to be able to slide down the hill on their skis. If you're in Park city and don't go here you are the one that missed out.
Smoking crowded place
Extremely smoky. Really crowded. Kids were uncomfortable with the smoke. Service is negligible. Food portions are ridiculously small. Food overall is good. Not likely to return

Make reservations early because dinner time usually has long waits, especially on weekends. Once we got our table, our waiter was friendly and made sure we had our drinks filled and quickly brought out our food when it was ready, given the busy night. We really enjoyed every dish that came out. My bf had the sushi, and I had the wagu as my main meal. We shared the stuffed dates and pot stickers with our friends. All was delicious and gone by the end of the night. We would come again but will know to make reservations ahead of time.

The blistered green beans and shishito peppers were very good! We also like the freestyle edamame. Both appetizers were large portions. The vegetarian roll was good. My boyfriend didn't like their spicy tuna roll and thought their spider roll was okay. Service was okay. Tables super close together. We will probably not come back to this restaurant.
Too crowded and smoky
The first thing that hits you as you walk downstairs to the basement restaurant is the smoky air, as if something was burning in the kitchen. The second thing is that it’s so crowded in there that you have to move tables to squeeze into the seats. Once you finally feel settled, the sushi and Asian flavors are interesting but they rush you through the meal as they turn tables at least 3-4 times a night. It turns out the smokiness is from the table top steak cooking on a hot stone. It’s fun but my asthmatic child had trouble breathing through the whole meal. I would not go back as it was just too crowded and uncomfortable. Clearly I’m alone in this review as the restaurant was packed but this is how I felt.
Favorite spot in PC.
Excellent Sashimi selection. Try the Sushi bar - Tim and team will take care of you!!
Shaba is a great find in park city! We go to park city
Shaba is a great find in park city! We go to park city every year and started to go to Shabu about 3 years ago and the food and service has always been awesome! The black cod is to die foe! This year Jolie was our server she was from Argentina and WAS EXCELLENT!!, She handled a large party without any issues ( I might add she had a few large parties) the only reason I gave 4 out of five is not anything with food or service but it is a small venue and you need to make reservations as soon as they open for the date you are interested in
This was a recommendation form a friend.
Our expectations where not met. The service was sub par. Fir example. Lay a sashimi batter in front of us but not describe what type of fish is where in the plate. A lychee maritno with no lychee fruit.... Small portions. Dusty metal art on the wall. Music that had NOTHING to do with the ambient. Think "Alexa, play music you want nobody to like from the mid ninties" and "Hey Alexa, turn it up to a volume they is just loud enough to be pretty annoying." our waitress was obviously done with the night in terms of effort. Basically, wouldn't go there again. Clean the place, get a better menu. Better prices while you are at it.

This review is for Amber!! My fiancé and I ate at Shabu last night for Valentine's Day and it was such an amazing experience. The food was absolutely incredible and the service was amazing! Amber was so friendly and helpful - with us as well as the tables around us. My fiancé and I both work as servers in Park City and we agree that the restaurant experience at Shabu with Amber is unmatched!
We LOVE this place!! Always our date night spot.
Wagu hot rock is fun and delicious!
Upscale, small restaurant
Upscale, but a great atmosphere. Small, intimate. Good food. Shareable. The service wasn't completely great, but it was fine. They were busy for the evening.
Great sushi and Japanese food in a dive bar setting
We have dined at Shabu during ski season and chose to take our grandkids and their parents on our summer visit. We managed to survive mostly because the service was very attentive. The sushi, Ramen, sashimi, tempura, and cocktails were excellent. The down side here is atmosphere unless this is what you thrive on. The layout is a dive bar. Below grade, tight, and loud. This night was a little worse with a large raucous group but overall still worth it.
What an amazing experience.
We ordered their Bao Buns, Edamame, Thai fried rice, and their Tonkatsu Ramen. Everything was fantastic but the Bao Buns were the star. Oh my were those some of the best Bao Buns we have ever had. The pork belly was cooked to perfection, the slaw was tangy mild and refreshing, the pickled onions added a little bit of a bite, and then you add the spicy mayo. Oh man! These things were fantastic. Wonderful dinner. We will absolutely be back.
Best service, great environment and overall very welcoming.
Tim the Chef was amazing and very attentive, Would definitely recommend again
Very nasty hostess.
Jessica was incredibly rude. Have been coming for years so it is very disappointed to be treated like this. Food has gone way downhill.
The name of the restaurant is Shabu.
Guess what they don't have??? Shabu!!! If that's what you're lookin for this isn't the place.
Amazing Food, Excellent Service and Wonderful Atmosphere!
We made reservations same day, although recommend planing ahead. The staff was very accommodating and worked us in. I had the Lawn Mower sushi roll and noodles and my son got the hot rock Wagu with a side of rice and we both enjoyed our meal tremendously. The hot rock and cooking the steak yourself is a unique experience and it was amazingly good. Service was excellent and the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We highly recommend dining here on your visit to Park City. We will be back.
No longer the great consistency it was
I suggested to my friend. Since the past 6+ years my experience has been always amazing! Haven't been in about a year. I regret suggesting. Server was good but didn't care enough to actually know the menu or the restaurant. I had to ask what sauce came with the tempura seafood. 5 employees (our table was at the server computer) said "I don't know.... I think it has.." I stopped them there and went to 2 sushi chefs. One I used to work with. I asked him to smell it and tell me what it was. Oddly he wouldn't mell it but knew from it's container what it was. Said aswell "I don't know what it is" and proceeded to start telling me what is in it. The fact that everyone literally said "I don't know" and my face probably saying wtf?? Then proceeding to say random ingredients. Makes me think. It's made up from a chef there Or most likely out of a bag and thawed improperly. Total waste of over $200. I would have rathered tipped the server and not paid for the food. Also an embarrassing moment to take a friend to what used to be my go to on main for sushi. For service, food and atmosphere. Now.. my suggestion will be the other couple places down the street. Or not to be completely rude. Just my opinion. Oh shucks in pinebrook 5pm-6pm. Half off, horrible service, but consistent as ever with my favorite roll. That Shabu has basically the same exact roll except 3 times more expensive. Crazy to see if they should be competing with better than oh shucks. P.S. it wasn't my money that paid. So for me to write a review without the money even being a factor out of my pocket. Should say a lot.
I can't remember exactly how long ago we tried Shabu for
I can't remember exactly how long ago we tried Shabu for the first time but we went again on 2/28/23 after a friend recommended the place. We started with an arugula and poached peach salad. The dressing seem to have a anise flavor possibly from 5 spice but overall was good. The wife was excited since she is gluten free and they had a version of miso cod that was gluten free. I had a bite and they did a remarkable job of making a gluten free version that was similar. I had the tonkatsu ramen with egg, Kim chee and pork belly (one has a choice for the protein) and it hit the spot on a cold winter's night. There's also a good selection of sushi and mixed drinks.
Not even worth 1 star! Never been so humiliated and
Not even worth 1 star! Never been so humiliated and disgusted by people in my life. Such a shame.. I'm sure the food is great but the snobby hosts probably won't let you sit down because they are literally too busy with their heads shoved so far up their backsides.. cheers shabu, would have loved to have a taste but the trolls guarding the door wouldn't let this billy goat cross.
My friend took us here, first I was excited cuz I love
My friend took us here, first I was excited cuz I love shabu shabu. You go down the stairs like Matsuhisa in Aspen. But the first thing I was told once we sat down, they no longer have Shabu shabu... Then they need to change the name! My friend ordered us green beans, firecracker shrimp which were ok, $25 duck friend rice was very small, no flavor with little bit of duck, and $36 for soggy noodles in salty soup, I can't even call this Ramen!! It's such a insult for somebody like me from Japan!! And $65 lamb would be good if they didn't put the same sweet sauce that they put on green beans... The steak on hot rock was decent but it was so little... And people keep bumping into me while dining, this place is just overpriced restaurant we were so unhappy and I will never go back, the Japanese or Korean top ramen that I get from a store is much better than their $36 ramen... The place has a Nobu price with Panda Express quality... I don't understand why people say they have the best food...
Great ambiance and perfect for family dinners.
Would recommend the appetizers/noodle/soup dishes more than the sushi rolls. Sushi is good but not the best I've ever had and doesn't stand out when compared to other dishes (which were DELICIOUS). This was my second time there. Would recommend and would return (again)!

My favorite restaurant in Park City! The food and atmosphere never disappoints. The staff is so kind, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Best sushi you will find! I'm from south Louisiana, so I'm
Best sushi you will find! I'm from south Louisiana, so I'm a bit picky about my seafood, and I come to Shabu every time I am in PC! The rising sun roll could be my last meal and I would die a happy woman! We also had the aloha and a daily special roll, and they were both excellent! We love the cozy atmosphere of this underground hideaway of a restaurant, and we were able to reserve a same day 6pm reservation at the bar, which never happens. If you want to dine here, book a reservation in advance! Would recommend dining here time and time again!
Fun ambiance and I wish I could cook like this!
Super menu! Hard to decide because their dishes incorporate several styles of food prep. We are locals. Every dish we've had here was great. And we can't help checking out the dishes passing to other tables to see what we should order next time. Fun atmosphere and don't overlook the interesting art! Thanks to Yuli from Ushuaia for our recent experience. Reserve ahead!
Ever single thing there is delicious.
Cool atmosphere. So worth a visit I make it a point to go there every time I go to Park City.
Sushi and Asian fusion food SO GOOD!
The food is truly outstanding. Our server helped us pick such tasty and interesting dishes. Fun cocktail and beer choices, too. Highly recommend!
Food was pretty but not worth the money
This place was actually quite expensive for what you actually get. I mean with the prices it should have felt fancier. My wife had some fried rice for $22 that was really indistinguishable from the stuff you can buy at the grocery store for $2 per bag. Now, my sushi rolls were very pretty to look at....really nice presentation and one of the two was really good, but the other tasted as if the fish was a day past it's prime. Also odd dress code for the staff...the bartenders had unmatched Hawaiin shirts on, one didn't look clean, and they wore baseball hats backwards. It was just kind of odd for them to be mixing $20 drinks but look like my kid's frat brothers. Had really good service here though and were treated very well by our waitress.
The food is great! The experience even better.
Sat at the sushi bar tonight (captain'ed by Arvin... joined by his sushi boyz) they "brought it" and made our unexpected night super fun and yum! Coming back soon.

3.) Finding the Reservation
