My partner and I have tried for the last 12 years to make sure we have an amazing meal at our favorite restaurant for our anniversary. This year it's a long 4 night holiday weekend in Chicago. We are dinner on Saturday night and it was an amazing experience (as always). Our bar server, John, recommended delicious Chardonnay to start our evening. Our primary server, Jack, was so welcoming and so attentive to us. The food was freaking amazing!! I had the bone in ribeye with creamed spinach. Stephen had his favorite filet mignon with mashed potatoes. Prior to our main courses, we shard the calamari and rock shrimp, a huge delectable crab cake, the BEST Caesar salad I have ever eaten and then the steaks. We finished our meal with the walnut brownie with ice cream and chocolate sauce as well as a slice of coconut cake. RL is an experience not to be missed. We travel 700+ miles each year to dine there. If you have a special occasion to be celebrated and remembered, I highly recommend reservations at RL so that they can celebrate your occasion and make you feel so special. See you next year RL
Worst fine dining experience I've ever had.
Made a reservation, took a 9 pm one so I didn't have to sit on patio (the point of an RL Restaurant is the decor). I was given the worst table in the whole restaurant, first come bar tables were much better. I was bumped by every single server, the serve line to order drinks backed up to my table, every single person walked by me and the picture shows my view. I would have been better off on the patio. I left after 45 mins & it would have been sooner but I couldn't get my waiter (who never gave me his name) to check on me. On top of all of it, the food was mid. Bread was cold, butter hard as ice, my bisque was lukewarm at best. I should have just gone back to Gibson's for my big vacation celebration meal. What a terrible food experience in city with such great food

Came here for a pre-dinner cocktail with my cousins visiting from Italy. Can you get more American than Ralph Lauren?! Had not been here in years. And I mean many years! Never just sat at the bar so I did not remember the bar being so small but three of us got a seat right away. The turnover was fast. The bartenders were amazingly attentive and one even spoke Italian. Highly recommend!

Booked a reservation for early in the evening (Main dining room). Was seated right next to the busser area/entrance and was constantly run into my whole meal. Meanwhile there were many other seating options. We ordered a few cocktails which are hard to miss at RL restaurants and were good. Food - I would equate to a tourist trap being a local to downtown chicago this does not live up to price and is no where compared to the NY location. I have been to numerous upscale restaurants all around chicago and have not had such a poor experience as I did here. Food was very "mid". I will finish with Ambiance, it was terrible as we were seated next to the busser area and constantly had dirty plates and butts in my face standing around the bar area meanwhile a handful of other available tables that were not given to us. If you are a local there are many better spots for either the same price point or very close. (Literally any Hogsalt is light years better) Overall very poor experience and felt like was not truly taken care of. Specials of the day were not shared nor an offer to walk through the menu. Overall very disappointing experience for $200+ meal for 2. Lastly I usually do not share reviews for negative experiences but felt the need to here.

This place is a MUST visit if you want class , good service and a beautiful environment to watch. It's a little on the pricey side but we were expecting this . Reservations were easy and finding the place was easy too . The service was impeccable from beginning to end . My friends and I all had the RL Burger that was delicious and the fries even better . The place looks like you should be dressed up ....and you should but we were nice casual and were fine . A MUST VISIT
A must try if you are in Chicago.
Great service and amazing food, our waiter Tyler was excellent and was very helpful when selecting our entrees. The escargot is a must try along with the mini lobster rolls for an appetizer. Will definitely look forward to returning

This is one of my favorite restaurants although a few things have gone a little downhill since the pandemic. The bread option that I like wasn't available. The waiter said sometimes they get it and sometimes they don't. Our food took a long time to be served. I'm very, very disappointed with the key lime pie. It used to be the best in the city, but no more. I love, love, love the calf's liver. The drinks are amazing. Our server lacked in enthusiam and was quite blunt. Two of my guests ordered the veggie burger which was hard and lukewarm. My last guest ordered Dover Sole which she always loves.

Love this place.
Located just off of Michigan ave, the large clubby room has a very eclectic menu has everything from pigs in the blanket to burgers to lobster rolls and the real deal Dover sole. The clientele include tourist of course, highrisers and local celebs. It has a good feel to it.
Crowded small popular restaurant.
Was lucky to find a small table in the bar since I didn't have a reservation. Was searching for a burger near my hotel and this popped up. Smallish menu with tasty options. We ordered the lobster rolls. These were the best I've ever had and I've had plenty in New England. The hamburger was really good but I've had better. To finish I ordered to the coconut cake, yum! #thedessertdude
Memorable dining experience.
I had a fantastic dining experience at RL Restaurant. The food was exquisite and beautifully plated, showcasing the chef's expertise. The staff struck the perfect balance of professionalism and attentiveness, enhancing our evening. The prices were very reasonable considering the high quality of the food. Overall, it was a memorable dining experience that I would highly recommend to anyone.

Finally crossed the RL Restaurant off my bucket list! My boyfriend and I love Lobster Rolls and let me tell you they were to die for! He claims the burger is his new favorite. To my luck, we were seated next to the main book case- I was able to find some new reads.

This restaurant's food and service were the highlight of my trip to Chicago. If only there were additional locations in the states.
Lovely Fine Dining
Wonderful dinner and experience! The food was delicious and expertly presented; the staff professional and attentive (while not being intrusive). The only drawback is the space is too crowded - fewer tables would reduce theme noise level and all diners to more easily enjoy the beautiful artwork and decor. I highly recommend RL for a fine dining experience in Chicago.
Reliably delightful
On our most recent visit to Chicago, we dined at RL on a Saturday evening. The place was packed, and yet, service was attentive, friendly, helpful and timely. The Escargots, an RL standard, were delicious, bathed in garlic butter and sitting on fresh brioche. It was soft shell crab season, and RL delivered. One large crab, perfectly fried, with light batter. The Chilean sea bass was another RL standard and, again, the chef delivered: a beautiful thick piece of bass, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The pan-seared Dover Sole came cleanly filleted and flavored with lemon butter. The Strawberry -Rhubarb pie was delicious, but the key lime pie stole the show.

5 stars. Space is a little bit tight in the restaurant but it adds to the ambiance in my opinion. Margarita, dirty martini, Caesar salad, burger, and lobster bisque were all amazing.

During my vacation in Chicago, I decided to have lunch solo at a Ralph Lauren restaurant and chose to sit in their bar area. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the lunch was delicious. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich, and it was probably one of the best I've ever had. Having never been to a Ralph Lauren restaurant before, I was thrilled to try this place and left extremely satisfied.
Every time I come here it delightful.
Today was great weather so we sat outside for brunch. There is also valet parking. The service is great and food is always divine. Today I tied the turkey burger and my friend ordered the Sea-bass.

For the bar experience only; really good dirty martini and espresso martini (a very nice twist by adding a bit of cinnamon powder). Ordered Calamari with rock shrimp which was awesome. Both wife and I would like to come for dinner next time. Bartender was kind and quick to provide service.

THE MOST RUDE AND IMPOLITE SERVICE EVER. AT 22:55 THEY TOLD US WE WOULD LIKE TO CLOSE GET OUT OF HERE!!!! VERY EXPENSIVE AND MODEST QUALITY OF FOOD. DO NOT EVER VISIT THIS RESTAURANT….

Great spot with great food! Would go again. Pigs in a blanket were god as was our corned beef sandwich. Very popular so make a reservation.

Solid spot, service and vibe are incredible but food is just good. Don't come here expecting haute or Michelin cuisine. Expect a solid meal but cuisine is a little simple and predictable. Waiters are conscientious, give solid recommendations and detailed. Drinks are solid and balanced. Salmon Benedict and croque madam are nice but neither were extraordinary, just solid. Plating and presentation was nice. Now let's talk about the space, incredible with attention to detail. Floral arrangements on every table, art work from floor to ceiling and the overall vibe is real. Waiters don't rush you out of here. Service feels very personalized and tailored to your experience. I recommend dining in the main room. Overall considering the experience, great hospitality and vibe the price felt reasonable and worth it. I would recommend this place to people who are visiting as I think it is a well executed concept, in an iconic location. Outdoor seating seems good too but being that Chicago is a Windy City I would heed caution.

I popped in for lunch today after not having been here in 10 years given I live on the East Coast. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the burger is. I would highly recommend their burger. Overall I had a great experience. Bartender & staff were outstanding. If you're looking for a smooth Old Fashioned drink look no further and be sure to have Blake make you one. It couldn't have been a more pleasant experience.

We went here for a birthday lunch and it was a decent experience. I don't know what possessed me to go with the fish of the day option but it was the sea bass that came with its own gravy when I went and that little piece you see came out to be $51. While the fish was good, it was also by no means phenomenal in any way and also wasn't very filling. To try to make up for the disappointment we also just got fries and majority of the dessert menu - the coffee ice cream ended up being my favorite. The service was nice and so is the atmosphere, although there are quite of few Chicago restaurants with the same style. Overall this is the place you go with a corporate card to splurge but I wouldn't recommend for any other reason.

it's been awhile since I've been to RL and was excited to return and order some of my old favorites on the menu. Unfortunately, my lunch fell short of past experiences. The shrimp and calamari appetizer was incredibly small. There were maybe 3 pieces of shrimp and the rest were tiny calamari rings. Nothing spectacular and certainly not worth the price. I ordered a cocktail, which I had to ask for a second time after the appetizer arrived. The next course was the much anticipated lobster bisque that used to be one of my favorites. How disappointed was I when I took my first bite and it tasted like flour. Rookie mistake for bisque which I embarrassingly had to send back. The main course was the steak frites on special. It was OK. Maybe I would have enjoyed it more had the wait staff given me some time and space to actually eat. Every minute someone was asking if I was finished. At one point someone took a plate and I had to say, I'm still eating that food, can you please not take it. Even the to go box was messed up! Sad review from a sad customer that remembers how great this place WAS.

The room is insanely beautiful and the service is consistently wonderful! Everything on the menu is YES and moderately priced as well!

Great buzzy restaurant. French bistro style atmosphere. Food was very good. Had the Oysters and Skirt steak special with truffle fries. However, was very disappointed that the steak came out 20 minutes after my oysters while in hadn’t finished them (6 oysters). I was enjoying them with a glass of white one when the steak arrived at the table. Would have thought the server would have realised he was too early but instead asked me to move my phone so he can place the food down. While the food was very good, for the sense of being rushed out to turn over the table. Not what you expect in an expensive eatery.

Such a gem! The inside takes you back the ambiance is great as for food I only ordered the fries with truffle - I can't complain they hit the spot!!! Our martinis were fantastic not to mention the bartenders Blake and the other one in the photo were top tier!!! Will definitely be back soon!

RL is always a spot that can make you feel like your sitting in someone's home, a fancy once, and enjoy a nice American meal. I've dined here for years and the service and food have always been consistent. The RL burger is delicious and leaves you satisfied, while various appetizers and salads are delicious as well.
Better than Great-Superb
RL Restaurant is better than great, it is SUPERB! There are not enough adjectives to describe how great our dining experience was. The food was excellent and large portions. Five (5) large shrimp were served in the Shrimp Cocktail. My wife’s escargot was excellent and the lobster roll was excellent. Save room for one of the multiple desserts-we had the coconut cake. The service was beyond outstanding. Don’t go if you are in a rush—sit back, have a great conversation and enjoy a great meal and a wonderful dining experience.

Great vibe and food
I have been here couple times and always love the warm atmosphere. We had lobster roll and RL burger for the weekend brunch and both were tasty. The drinks were pretty good as well. It’s always a nice spot for brunch or dinner in this neighborhood
The worst chicken sandwich in Chicago
The worst $25 chicken sandwich you’ll ever have. The fries were so oily and looked like they had been cooked the night before. I had the worst stomach ache an hour later as a result. The service was average: we had to remind the server to bring out our desert. Never going back.
REALLY RL!
Luxury dining with abundant energy, great service (despite being crazy busy) and superb food. This is a very appealing grand old style dining establishment that speaks of elegance, attention to style, and a fine dining experience. I was a bit surprised how "casual" it seemed given upper end price point; I guess T-shirts are always "in" for some...
Lying, pathetic employees
The lying, unintelligent host and manager at RL cannot keep up with their own incompetence and dissembling. Just tried to walk in for a quick drink - they have removed half the bar stools and half the bar tables and put them inside the retail store (on SATURDAY NIGHT at 8pm). They claim that they are fully staffed but cannot keep up with the orders, and it will be ½ hour, minimum, to get a glass of wine. BS. This place is a dump and has completely collapsed. It used to be a great neighborhoody place: visitors, businesspeople, locals. There are still two or three of the original staff who know how it's supposed to run. But basically, now it's just pathetic.
Our best meal in Chicago in several years
Perhaps underestimated because of the many trendy (some Michelin-starred) restaurants in Chicago, RL is a steady, solid restaurant with elegant ambience, great service and excellent food. The Monday evening we dined there, the place was packed, with people waiting out side the restaurant for tables. Our waiter was excellent: polite, helpful, patient and efficient. He was there when we needed him, otherwise, he was not. The Escargots were excellent and the seared tuna was perfect! Dover Sole, fileted at the table was perfect and the Veal Milanese was as good as I remembered it from my last one in Milan. A bottle of Plumpjack Chardonnay was the perfect accompaniment to a great meal. This was out third perfect meal at RL and we will be back, as soon as we can.

Classic club type of restaurant with white linens and leather booths. Great artwork, impeccable service, and delicious food. Great place for a really lovely and even special dining experience.

Superb service -- from the hosting desk to the servers ... friendly and professional insisting on creating the most memorable experience for their guests. They went above and beyond to move us to 3 tables to let us stay longer! The place was intimate yet lively ambience that feels both exclusive and welcoming. I'd highly recommend.

I ordered the NY strip and it was cooked perfectly. The sides were all amazing as well. Only downside was that service was a little slow, but the restaurant was extremely busy.

1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* BraveCloth47, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* BraveCloth47 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to BraveCloth47 for any questions Peter may have as BraveCloth47 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* BraveCloth47 now uses their connections at RL Restaurant Chicago to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If BraveCloth47 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, BraveCloth47 receives the $200 reward which is credited to BraveCloth47's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at RL Restaurant Chicago!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
