Razza Jersey City Reviews
Some would say it's the best pizza in the area.
It's indeed good. Funghi is a popular one and my favorite. We had another one with tomato that was also popular (don't recall the name) but it was not as unique.
Great food and service.
Quite the hidden Jen in Jersey city. I had wished my drinks were a tad stronger but the pizza was amazing. Started off with the meatballs which literally melted in my mouth. The atmosphere was great, lots of different groups and I would love to return just to hang at the bar. Table was a bit small but we managed to get everything on there without spilling.
i'm giving two stars because the service was very good.
everyone was friendly and we got our food without much wait; however, the pizza itself was lacking in flavor. we got the funghi and santo; for the santo, there was no spice to the chilli oil and the tomato sauce had no seasoning to it. it seemed like we were eating pureed tomatos. the funghi was a bit better purely because of the flavor of the mushrooms, but it was dry because there was no sauce. overall, both pizzas were dry, burnt and unflavorful. i would not come back here and frankly, i've had better dollar slices in the city.
Amazing, highly recommend! The salted caramel panna cotta
Amazing, highly recommend! The salted caramel panna cotta was one of the best desserts I've ever had. The pizzas are delicious and the menu has a great variety. Service was excellent!

I would give this amazing pizza spot 5 stars if they didn't keep your credit card hijacked to hold one's reservation! Fortunately we got seats at the bar on a Saturday evening and had some really awesome pies. We tried the margarita and pepperoni pies and the meatballs - all were perfect!! We love the service and wait staff, very friendly! Coming from New York it's hard to find decent brick oven pizza but this spot serves up a pie with a smokey crust and savory flavor that hits home! There could be a little more cheese on the pies but the sauce is just sweet enough that compliments the whole pizza. Someone please tell the owner to stop forcing patrons to give their credit card for reservations. Very discouraging and you'll get customers even if you don't follow this rule (which should be against the law for all businesses!!)
Great pizza.
The meatballs are also incredible. Post renovation plenty of room and easier to get a table than it used to be

Everything was amazing! The meatballs, hazelnut pizza, margherita pie and the bread and butter were all unreal.

Had to try this place after hearing so much hype and glowing reviews. Let's start with the positives. Great ambience and service. The meatballs and ricotta were good, and the pizzas were reasonably good, but I was not blown away by them. They reminded me a bit like Nomad Pizza in Princeton/Hopewell. The pepperoni pizza was my favorite and had a fair amount of topping, and the margherita was OK. The guancia (with a meat that reminded me of prosciutto) was unique with its aromatic cheese, but the amount of thinly sliced meat topping was stingy vs. the price. It seemed like there was 1 slice of the prosciutto-like meat spread across the pizza. Bottom line: it was worth trying, but I don't plan on returning.
The best --- somebody feed Phil inspired wife and I to go .
.. great service - friendly staff and amazing pizza .. each pie has unique and creative toppings ..can't wait to go back !!!

Freshly made very good pizzas, the vibe and service is great too. We had Calabrese and fungi pizza. We liked fungi better.
Soooooooo good! Razza has been on my list of spots to try
Soooooooo good! Razza has been on my list of spots to try for so long, but as the poor planner that I am, I never think to make a rez with enough time, anddddd they never have anything free. Luckily I turned a year older which means someone else made the (surprise) rez and I celebrated 31 with great pizza, wine and panacotta. Upscale pizza is the only way to put it. You could come in jeans and sneakers and a sweatshirt or a little on the dressed up side and fit in either way. The space is so cozy and nice and now I know to try to get a couple seats at the bar the next time I want to come in without a rez, I am sure I'll get luckily with a little wait time. Our waiters were so friendly, let us take our time, made suggestions, all around great. For appetizers, we started with the ceci (chickpeas in olive oil and parm) and the kale caesar. Ceci was tiny and tasty! And as a chickpea fan it was a nice little app. The dressing on the kale caesar was pretty perfect as well. I ordered a little side of bread to scrape of every bit of olive oil and caesar dressing that I could. On to the pies. I am a sucker for a red pie and a white pie on the table so we got the funghi and the burrata pies. Funghi was incredible, and if you are a mushroom lover like me, you need it. The burrata pie was also a winner. There were so many tasty pies on the menu and I cannot wait to get two new ones on the next visit. Anddd lastly dessert! The pannacotta (new to both of us) was so good. Like a delicious custardy flan. Oh and the bottle of wine we got was just *perfect*. Thanks for a great bday din, Razza!

Delicious and consistent from the meatballs, to the funghi pie and the crรจme brรปlรฉe to top It off! The service is impeccable all around but I must shout out Steve Logothetis on his knowledge, passion and attentiveness!
The menu could be a little more diverse.
I love the ambience however if you're gonna cap me at 90 minutes this is not the true Italian experience. What are you willing to sacrifice in a sea of typical American cuisine. Wine is god.
Good evening good people of the yelp universe.
Soooo I took my family out for some dinner this evening. My girlfriend suggested Razza. Their pizza is really good. But Jesus 16$ for shredded kale and ceased dressing. Incredibly over priced. No cheese, no seasoning, nothing. Very bland and not worth the money.

Everything at this spot was awesome Our server Sean P was very attentive and friendly. One of the best service teams we've seen a a restaurant in a long time. Everyone on the team was accommodating, and really on their game. The food and drink was fantastic as well. Definitely lives up to all the hype. Great restaurant, food and staff.

As a self proclaimed pizza eating pro and lover, this is truly been the best pizza I have ever eaten. The crust was a perfect blend of crunch and fluffiness while maintaining perfect structural integrity. The flavors were spot on from sauce to cheese to toppings. My only problem was not having enough stomach space to order all their pies! Also, you need to get the bread and butter. Worth the cost for something that is often free. An added bonus was that Phil from Somebody Feed Phil was casually eating dinner with family when we were here on a random Tuesday!
Reservations recommended.
I tried booking for four people a month out and was not able to get one. Tried emailing and calling numerous times with no response. We ended up booking two tables for two people and they managed to squeeze us together when we got there which was much appreciated . We started off with meatballs, sourdough, and kale salad. It was all good but the pizza was fantastic, especially if you like thin pizza. Extremely light, we split three pizzas (pepperoni, margherita, burrata) among four people and no one was really full after. Not the best pizza I've ever had but very good and glad I tried it out
We had an amazing time at Razza.
We had a 6 pm reservation but showed up early. We were able to grab a drink at the bar and it wasn't too crowded yet. Drinks were delicious- Sergio was a great bartender. We were seated and had wonderful service throughout the night. We started with the polenta, meatballs, and butter flight. The bread was phenomenal!! Everything was so good! Next we had an amazing off the menu calzone that had phenomenal flavor -clams, leeks etc. next was our pizza course. We got the margarita, the santo and another that I can't remember - all the pizza was so so good! Dessert.. of course. Tiramisu was phenomenal- and I don't even like tiramisu ... You literally can't go wrong with anything at razza - highly recommend!
Having heard about Razza many years ago I finally made it
Having heard about Razza many years ago I finally made it cuz they didn't used to take reservations and the wait was often over an hr. The servers were nice and attentive. My party of 6 shared apps. The ceci (chickpeas) was pitiful and kale Caesar salad boring and bland. Meatballs w/ricotta were tender and tasty. Polenta must've been a fine milled corn cuz it was creamy and delicate. It was topped with a mushroom ragu that complimented it well. We got 3 pizzas, burrata, funghi and pepperoni. The pizzas run small and each feed 1-2 people only. The crust was thin, chewy, just the way I like it and the toppings were quality ingredients. Everything was pretty pricey tho. The rest of my party were happy with the pizzas. We got the special clams and garlic confit "calzone", which I do not recommend at all whatsoever. They tent pizza crust over a dozen clams in their shells. It was very hard to eat cuz I had to tear apart this scalding steaming pizza pocket by hand and get the clams outa their shells. The top of the so called calzone is plain dry pizza crust. The bottom part of the so called calzone is wet and soaked through with clam juices and copious amts of roasted garlic. Stick with the tried and true pizza.
Made our reservation super in advance.
Food was good, but definitely seems overhyped.
Service is great and the ambiance too.
That's where it ends. The pizza from here has been overrated. Even for Jersey pizza it's mid at best. Overpriced. Small. Lacks flavor. I can name way better pizza that's priced more reasonably. It lacked so much. Definitely no reason to go back and have told people how mediocre it is. The tiramisu is delicious so a star has been added.
Not sure of the hype; but worth a visit.
I have a mixed opinion on this place. The atmosphere is fantastic and the staff and service were incredible. They hit the high notes in some areas but flavour was a bit disappointing. We ordered the "special" clam calzone. My expectations were gorgeous dough; filled with garlic, herbs, oozing with cheese and clams. What we received was beautiful dough; with clams in their shells, and 2 cloves of roasted garlic for a price of $28. It was flavourless. We had some lovely salads that were beautifully presented and full of flavour and texture. They were perfectly dressed and delicious. The meatballs were delicious although not really stuffed as described on the menu with ricotta, but rather served with ricotta in the centre of the dish. But quite tasty. I must say all of the pizzas were beautifully prepared. The crusts were perfectly baked; but the toppings lacked in some that we selected. The Funghi was superb. Flavourful and the perfect ratio of toppings to crust. The Guancia barely had any (Guancia) on it. Which was also disappointing. The East Coast Margherita lacked seasoning and was a bit puddled with oil. I guess if I hadn't had the build up of how incredible this place was I would have been a bit more satisfied; but given the hype it wasn't all that incredible. Still all in all; worth a visit.
The Best Pizza
Razza pizza is by far the best pizza Iโve had in the NYC / NJ area. Everything is made from fresh, seasonal ingredients and cooked perfectly. It is incredibly popular and very busy so Iโd recommend getting there early if you havenโt booked. Given the business, it can take a while to get your food but you wonโt be disappointed.
Excellent pizza and service
Excellent pizza and service, wildly busy! Not the best pizza in the area, very good places within driving distance -less than an hour. Would definitely go back again. One negative, not with the $$ - is a bit overpriced for what you get. Understand inflation, but 23 $ for a margarita is a bit much. but great atmosphere, great service, and great pizzas !
Fantastic pizza !!!
Living close to Razza, I ordered a pizza for takeout. It was one of the best pizzas I've ever eaten. It's great to have such a fine place near my home. The next time I dine out with friends, I'm going to go to Razza.
Old World Authentic Pizza in Jersey City
If your in the Jersey City area and need some โrealโ pizza, you must try Razza. Absolutely the best old world (Italy) recipes. Nice atmosphere and definitely worth trying out at least once.
Top ranked pizza worth the hype!
Best pizza ever! it lives up to its reputation and always being ranked on the top 5 nationwide. Service was excellent, our server checked in on. us often and was so kind. the food is just unforgettable. We had the margarita pie and mushroom pie both equally delicious.
You can't get things more right than Razza gets them
We finally visited Razza after reading glowing reviews and hearing from friends. I was almost afraid it would not live up o what I'd heard (which happens sometimes when a place is over-hyped ) If anything, this place is way under-hyped. We did takeout because we had our dog (we were enjoying a lovely Saturday walking along the JC waterfront and Liberty State Park) but we probably could have eaten there because there is so much outdoor seating and no one seemed to mind when we were sitting out there waiting for our order. The place is beautifully but subtly decorated and laid out with plenty of seating. The staff is just over and above nice, helpful and welcoming. the young lady at the front desk who took our order could not have been more pleasant but everyone else I encountered was too. We ordered a Margherita Pizza, Calabrese Pizza, a Meatball Appetizer and a loaf of their baguette (all as kindly suggested by the hostess---thank you). I am a pizza fanatic and have had great pizza all over the world, but especially in the NYC Metro area where a pizza place has loads of competition. This was easily in my top 3 of all time, possibly even my new favorite (albeit a bit of a drive to get there for me). Everything about it....the crust, the toppings, the proportions---was absolutely perfect. And those meatballs, spread over that delicious crunchy crust (soft on the inside) bread was other-worldly. this place is worth visiting, no matter where you live, even if you have no other reason to go to. But you can also make a day of it on the beautiful Hudson riverfront ant top it off with late lunch or early dinner at this man-made wonder of the world. Outstanding, just outstanding.
Personally my favorite pizza joint in Jersey.
I never have a chance to take shots of our food because we immediately scarf it down. Glad that they expanded their restaurant by the time we moved back from Seattle. Always get the bread and butter, meatballs, and sometimes order a pizza or two depending how hungry my husband and I are. Service is great - I personally like eating at the bar area and watch them make drinks. Good spot to take friends out of town or date night.
I heard about Razza from the Jersey Girl newsletter, and
I heard about Razza from the Jersey Girl newsletter, and was curious to try it. The pizzas are expensive in an attempt to target the demographics of downtown JC. That's fine, it is not a charity. The average price for a pie of pizza is $26 for what could be an personal serving...Maybe 14"? The price is in line with the establishments dotting the downtown area. I ordered the "funghi" pizza and the core was delicious, but the crust was bitter and burnt. It was not the thick soft crust you see in a Neapolitan pizzeria. The bitterness ruined it. The rest of the menu looks yummy though, so I will give it another try but not pizza. The meatballs look promising. Their website clearly mentions that there are no walk ins. Reservations are mandatory through the app Resy. Alternatively you can order for pick up through Uber Eats. I would reserve because the location is cute.
Excellent
What a great restaurant. The pizza was really delicious. I've never had a pizza that was so well put together, a perfect balance of flavours. The meatballs were excellent also. Very reasonably priced for the quality and the service was excellent. Highly recommend visiting Razza.
I tempered my expectations given the hype, but it's easily
I tempered my expectations given the hype, but it's easily one of the best pizzas I've had. Service is also professional and attentive.
Our friends in Jersey City told us about all the great
Our friends in Jersey City told us about all the great things they were reading about Razza, so we knew we had to go on a recent visit. We easily made reservations online for 4 of us on a Saturday night. It was a dark and rainy night, so I can't speak much to the exterior of the building, but Razza was easily accessible by foot. The space is pretty small inside, but it feels intimate rather than cramped. The ambience is on par with the intimate feel - it's very modern and clean with mood lighting and a great view of the pizza oven. It was a Saturday night, so it was busy and a little loud, but to be expected. Our server was attentive enough to us throughout the night, and he provided helpful suggestions as we asked, which is always appreciated. The menu is compact, telling me that what they do make, they make well. I have no qualms with this since it makes decision making easier! We started off with beer on tap, pleased that they had a variety of local options. Based on Yelp reviews, we split the meatballs with ricotta and the ceci. The meatballs were tasty - the meat of the balls themselves were standard fare, nothing too crazy, but I did love the meld of the flavors with the ricotta on top. The ceci were also pretty standard - we make a lot of chickpea dishes, and I feel like this is something we could easily replicate, so it lacked that "wow" factor. Of course, the pizzas are what brings Razza it's fame, so we were excited to try a few. With the help of our server, we opted for the santo with sausage, onions, and chili oil and the eggplant supersalt with fresh moz, eggplant, ricotta salata, and basil. The crust was perfectly crispy to my liking and had the right touch of char on it. The flavors of the santo were a tad better than the eggplant - while the supersalt was a unique addition, I felt like it was missing some flavor. Maybe if the eggplant was more roasted, the flavors would have stuck out more? I did love the addition of the ricotta salat (not something I see often on pizza) and the fresh basil, though - a very fresh pie! The sausage on the santo was nicely flavored, and the onions and the chili oil provided a nice sweet and spicy balance. It was well done! Despite my slight criticism, the pies at Razza did deliver and we enjoyed them! I had my eyes on the Di Natale, but no one in my group was as interested in the raisins and pine nuts as I was ... so we'll have to return another time! The prices for Razza are reasonable, ~$20-25 for a pie that serves 2 people comfortably and that sources fresh local ingredients. The quality is certainly high, and I love that they use seasonal ingredients to make unique pies. I would definitely recommend Razza for anyone in NJ looking for a solid Neapolitan pizza, and I would love to make it back to try more items!

This was my second time trying Razza, but this time in the restaurant since I got takeout last time - it really does make a difference! I ordered the Di Natalie pizza which was reallllyyyy good. I was uncertain about raisins on pizza, but it works! My boyfriend got the sausage pizza and enjoyed it. We shared the tiramisu, which my boyfriend said was comparable to what you'd get in Italy. The crust is very good, especially when dunked into chili oil. Overall, definitely recommend eating in over takeout so that you eat your pizza hot. That said, it is quite disappointing that you can only get takeout on Sundays - I was hoping to bring my family tomorrow so they could try it out for the first time.

My friend asked for balsamic to put in his dessert (he knows something about the taste profile? ) they stated the had none ! In a pizza restaurant?!?! They are snobby there is a overall vibe that your lucky to be eating there .no comfort beer like (Guinness) good pizza but no pizza is worth the attitude
Best Neapolitan pizza in jersey city.
Will give any place in New York City proper a run for its money. Meatballs also very good.

Nice place to hang out and have a few drinks, the pizza is good but with very little toppings , you can barely taste it for the price you pay... so it was a little disappointing
tl;dr exceptional crust meets fresh and flavorful
tl;dr exceptional crust meets fresh and flavorful ingredients, culminating in top-tier traditional and innovative pies, even by lofty New York standardsRazza is a Neopolitan-centric venture devoted to naturally leavened, wood-fired bread and Jersey-sourced ingredients. Although it's in Jersey City across the Hudson, the New York Times famously generated a stir in 2017 by proclaiming Razza to be the best pizza in New York. That glowing review, coupled with a buddy ranking it as his personal favorite pie (despite only having eaten takeout from there), landed Razza high on my restaurant bucket list.Outside, Raza has a Parthenonian awning on the first floor of a classical, light brick building. The interior is sleek and modern with an industrial bent. A marble ordering counter, a petite dark-wood bar, and many shelves of freshly baked bread decorate the left, while a faux leather half-booth wraps around the exposed studs and whitewashed brick to the right. The remainder of the room heavily features accent lighting and light wooden finishes. Trendy lo-fi music mixes softly with the chatter of patrons.A few friends and I arrived right when Razza opened for Sunday late lunch, and the space was already buzzing with guests awaiting their takeout. Tables were almost entirely cleared out of the center of the room, foreshadowing the takeout-only service. With strollers and small children a-plenty, the restaurant immediately felt approachable and unpretentious. We quickly logged an order for 3 Neapolitan pizzas: the Burrata, the Margherita, and the seasonal Potato Pie. The hostess took my name and phone number, promising that I would receive a text within half an hour signaling my order's completion. We grabbed some booth seating, and sure enough, I was handed 3 pizza boxes after about 20 minutes. Each personal-sized pie sported a thin, perfectly charred, leopard-spotted crust. I'm by no account a crust connoisseur, yet I found myself devouring even the springy cornicone plain with delight (although it certainly would have benefitted from a side of olive oil or red sauce). My favorite pie was the burrata, highlighted by rich dollops of the eponymous cheese and bursts of vibrant tomato sauce. My only criticism was that this pizza was not as piping hot as the other two pies. The margherita pizza was quite similar but heavier on the cheese and oil, overwhelming the magical subtleties of the sauce. Finally, the potato pie was entirely unique, reminiscent of elevated scalloped potatoes. Even the two pizza purists in our posse were blown away by this more whimsical white pie. The delicate flavor of potato excelled beside globs of rich raclette, although the combination sorely needed a pinch of ground peppercorn. The drinks were no slouch, either, offering a freshness fit for spring. The staff was the perfect combination of efficient and friendly, and interestingly they didn't mind patrons staying indoors to partake in 'zza (just without dedicated table service). The pies run $20-25 each, and an individual can reasonably eat a full pizza. While no doubt premiumly priced, I was left spellbound by the burrata pie. Expertly executed and mesmerizingly delicious, it was quite possibly my all-time favorite Neapolitan pizza. I would recommend Razza in a heartbeat to anyone looking for a fabulous pie in the Greater New York area.
So let's put the pizza aside.
.. it's really good! But here's what you need to know:this is an unmitigated rip-off:$18 bread board, which is a 2x upgrade from the regular bread board. Ignoring that even $9 for a "regular" bread board (I'd suggest $5) is obscene, I don't mind paying if I'm getting! And what am I getting, over the regular board? Literally two microscopic smears (maybe one inch by 3/4 inch, and sbsolutely flat) of two "boujee" butters. They were delish, but tiny!!! Not a good startWine. $15 a glass or $60 for a bottle. WOW... the glass is a deal (which is unusual since in most places the per-glass bottle price (using a 6-oz pour) is less than by the glass). This was "even", meaning the glass is the way to go since it gives you flexibility. Well, the mystery was solved when the glasses came out... thimbles of wine (maybe 4 ounces). Not cool.Dessert: Delicious, and highly recommended. But at $14 and tiny, rip-off city. But, the pizza... oh my!
A really nice place
The dinner that we got was really tasty. We really enjoyed it. Chase did an exceptional job as a server.
