The place lives up to the hype. Reservations are a must! Private Chef's table is worth the splurge for a special occasion. The chef comes out and takes pictures with the party.

This. Is. The. Best. Dining. Experience. I've. Ever. Had.

5/5 by 👻 @Linda C. on 08/28/2025

This. Is. The. Best. Dining. Experience. I've. Ever. Had. Providence deserves every Michelin star and then some. The food is simply outstanding. Each dish is a perfect balance of creativity, precision, and flavor. And so beautifully presented!!! The service is nothing short of phenomenal: attentive, warm, and refined without ever being stuffy. The ambiance is elegant and fitting for such a special meal, striking just the right tone. We did the truffle add on along with the wine pairing and highly recommend both. Honestly, my only complaint is that I can't eat here every day without my wallet getting skinner and my waist getting fatter. I can't wait to come back for another unforgettable experience.

5/5 by 👻 @Alex H. on 08/14/2025

You don't need to read my review to know Providence is highly recommended. My focus will be from a solo diner's perfective. I sat in the bar, received exactly the same service as the dining room, the added bonus is bar tenders are also knowledgeable with food. Unlike some high end restaurants, you can enjoy Providence by yourself. I guess the only complain is I'm too short to sit on bar stool, lol. Restaurant offers two tasting menu and five optional add-on. The difference between the classic choose and chef is chef gets all three main courses but slightly smaller portion of the rest. I ordered the Classic Tasting menu and two add-on, Salt-roasted Spot Prawn and Uni Egg. The presentation is on the traditional side, not as eye catching as Vespertine, but the taste is definitely no less. Highlight a few, the Salt-roasted Spot Prawn is alive leaving the kitchen and by the time it's gets to your table, it's cooked, about 90 seconds, the taste is sweet, soft and slightly sticky, what an amazing experience; dry farm fife wheat sourdough bread is still steaming hot when I pulled a slice, with Normandy butter it can be a whole meal; duck breast is glacéd in rich brown color source, it looks overcooked but it's actually tender enough to slide down my throat without chewing; I was amused by a glass of yogurt flavor drink that's clear as water, was told made with liquified milk and yogurt... blue fin tuna amuse-brioche wears Gucci perfume...I can go on and on, but I think the best review is for you to try it and form your own impression. Providence got their third star in June 2025 and is one of the six Michelin three star restaurants in U.S. received Michelin green star for serving only sustainable and local food (three are in California).

5/5 by 👻 @Brandon S. on 08/11/2025

After hearing that Providence got their 3 michelin stars, I decided to make a reservation here for my girlfriend's birthday celebration. We got the chef's table menu and a bees sneeze cocktail. Starting off the meal, we were given complimentary amuse-bouches: uni in a cracker boat, wagyu tartare topped with caviar, some cracker tube with cured fish wrapped around, fried parmigiano reggiano with black truffle, and a mini lobster roll with a milk bun and black truffle shavings. We then started getting the dishes from the menu with a few other complimentary ones inserted in between: an uni egg, red fife sourdough, a bowl of corn cream with corn bits and corn cracker. My favorite main dish was a cooked kinmedai, which replaced the black cod on the menu. The duck breast dish was a very close second as I've never had duck meat that deliciously prepared before. All the other dishes were incredible. For dessert, my girlfriend got a nice chocolate birthday surprise while I got a strawberry and nut ice cream since I can't each chocolate. We then got a mango sorbet in the shape of a michelin star, also the best mango dessert I've ever had. Finally, we ended the meal with some small sweet bites. Overall, the food was stellar 10/10. Service was just as amazing and the ambience was great for our two party birthday celebration. I will be coming back whenever I am able to book another reservation.

I started to the Yelp review thing within the last two

4/5 by 👻 @Miguel R. on 08/05/2025

I started to the Yelp review thing within the last two years. However, I have been to Providence a few times, more than 9 but less than 12. I new this place before it had three Michellin stars, in fact, I started to eat at this place about 10 years ago. Please excuse my blatant error but I do not have pictures. I tried to find them in my icloud, and all I found was a video that was more than 30 seconds long. And Yelp doesn't allow for videos that are more than 30 seconds long to be uploaded. So for this review my words and memories will have to do. The first time I went to Providence, I was hooked, it felt like I had been washed into the beauty of the ocean floor and had arrived to a sophisticated dining room. Meaning that I had stepped into a space reserved for sea monarchs and the high-sea-shell wearing crowd of the ocean. It was fresh, it was beautifully beige, and to my newborn foodie eyes, the place made me feel like I had sunk myself into the depth of glamour that high-end eating promised. The room aesthetics were one thing, but the food, the people, the small graces was what made me fall in love more. The place swirled with sparkling novelty and quiet theatrics, it allowed me to view a world that was not my own, but I was building entrance too. For instance, I saw people given small flashlights to read their menus. I saw the fragility that comes with expensive dining. Like, this other time, when I was given a skewer I was instructed to eat it carefully because I might puncture the top of my mouth with the large tooth pic that was basically the skewer. Thus, if you want to experience the service owed to Triton then please be their guest. One of the items, that drove me to attend, this place on routine was their dessert tasting menu. They had it back then. I always felt so special having 5 courses of dessert. It was gleeful and indulgent, just like enjoying a dessert tasting menu should be. When I was learning about sou-vis, I had sou-vis caramel apple in their room. Seeing something on tv, and tasting in person, made me feel like a minor celebrity, and for someone who is not waiting for an Oscar these types of moments make life splendid, cause you know, for a lower being like me, observing the minor moments of life and celebrating them, makes life wonderful. In terms of food, I have had knock-out bites, and disappointments. To be fair, this is to be expected. But for the price tag that Provdence commands, and the stars that it now boasts, I expect for every bite to be of dream quality. But at the end of their day, they are human. So some errors should be understood. I do remember one time, I took my parent's to dinner, and the food and the service was subpar. Their salmon dish was basic. And for a place that holds so many accolodates, including its main chef being a guest judge on Hell's Kitch basic is a tragedy. At the end, people will visit this place as it enjoys an august reputation, an environment and presence that is strong, strong like a pearl inside of clam, and, frankly, no one should be denied the chance to eat in grandeur and alongside splendid food. All I hope is that when you go, you are offered a world class dining experience because that is what a restaurant with three stars should offer. I did have moments where I felt blessed by the opportunity to here, and others where I felt my money was ill spent. Do what you want with this information and with my lack of pictures. One time I was taking a food tour of Hollywood and we passed this place. The tour guide asked if anybody has been here. I raised my hand. The tour guided commented that i was the only person, he has had in his tours that has gone there. So this place is an experience, a landmark of LA dining, but still their luxury and greatness should be a standard, not just a claim of experience.

Providence delivers on every level, exceptional service, incredible food, and a beautiful, intimate setting. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Every course was timed perfectly, and the team's attention to detail was top-notch without ever feeling overbearing. The food was absolutely stunning, both in presentation and flavor. Each dish felt thoughtful, refined, and incredibly fresh. You can tell the chefs here are true artists who care deeply about what they create. Providence is the kind of place you go when you want more than just a meal, it's an experience. One of the best dining experiences we've had in LA. We highly recommend!

Went for my birthday, and got to sit at the chefs table

Went for my birthday, and got to sit at the chefs table peering into the kitchen through glass windows. The menus were customized with my name, and made the whole experience welcoming. All of the staff were generous and attentive. We had several courses and some side appetizers which made for a fantastic dinner. Come extremely hungry because by the end you will have no room for the chocolate desserts. This is truly a place for celebrations, and needs to be experienced in a lifetime.

Cool, understated decor.

3/5 by 👻 @Dave S. on 07/26/2025

Lively and friendly atmosphere. Everything is well-cooked and plated beautifully. The salmon main was about as perfect as can be. Several courses are kind of samey (seafood in a broth with adjacent tuille), and with the exception of the chocolate tea, the flavors weren't particularly innovative. Pre-dinner cocktails were great. Wine pairings were good but ill-timed and a little stingy. One course was served while one of us was away from the table. Our friend's almond allergy was addressed by leaving the macaron off her dessert plate; no replacement. This is not a bad review! Am I being extremely nitpicky? Absolutely, but it's a 3-star spot that's been around for 20 years so the expectations are high. It was my third time here since they opened, and IMO it's gotten surprisingly mid for a restaurant of this caliber.

Best SoCal Seafood Tasting Menu

5/5 by 👻 @OCAnn on 06/23/2025

So we visited again, our annual June dinner at Providence. It's nice that the automatic Yelp-sort defaults to your own past reviews; so I did a quick rereading of past write-ups. And there's no real change of how I feel about Providence. Our experience, like the menu, was different; though, there is no change in how I feel...I still LOVE them. This year, we brought my sister and BIL (who had never had a tasting menu). Our reservation was for four, and when the call came to confirm our reservation and check for allergies/dietary restrictions (there were none), they also asked if we'd like the Chef's Table!!! Well, YES, absolutely! We had dined at the chef's table once before (2021). And in that time in between, there was a remodel. The chef's table is a luxurious U-shaped booth: it seats two facing the kitchen, and one seat each side, with a fifth seating (a chair) with the back to the kitchen (so optimally, you'd want no more than 4, but a fifth seat is available should your party need it). After a quick review on OpenTable, my guess is that we were long-time diners (since 2010) and a party of four (instead of our usual two) that lead them to offer us the coveted table. Then came the cocktail and food menus. Carlos, who appears so serious and professional, is actually very charming and engaging. In fact, they ALL are; they all have this air of professionalism, astuteness, and graciousness, but they are all so extremely personable, each in their own way. Enoch, our other service professional, is mellow, sweet, funny and informative. Then there's Mr. Poto, famous for his congeniality (admittedly, I'm a fan), who has the best table-side manners anywhere. He comes by, welcomes us, shakes our hands, and everything feels right with the world (even though this administration just bombed Iran that evening.) New this year is that there are now TWO menus: a $325 Classic and a $450 Chef's Tasting. The difference is that for the Classic, you'll select your main (usu salmon, duck or A5 wagyu); with the Chef's Tasting, you get all three. Knowing our appetites, we all elected to do the Classic (the men ordered duck; my sister and I chose salmon) and added a couple of their sinfully delicious and artfully beautiful uni egg. (The only reason we did not select A5 wagyu is that we all visited Japan this year, where we had wagyu. Also, Providence being a seafood restaurant, it only made sense for us to stick with seafood [duck, while poultry, is kinda seafood adjacent].) The thing about Providence that my sister and I - who spent half our pre-adult lives in Japan - absolutely love is the Japanese aesthetic, through and through. Their logo is evocative of the Zen/Japanese enso/circle. Their approach to seafood is of a thoughtful, masterful craftsman, continuously working toward improvement or kaizen. The flavours are deliciously understated. Everything is just enough, nothing is heavy handed or 'extra'. Both the food and the flavours are delicate, ephemeral and harmonious. Their service speaks to 'omotenashi'. For anyone who's been to and raves about Japanese service, omotenashi is that underlying trait...with an Italian flair (a nod to Mr. Poto's warmth). The evening went by extremely smoothly and far too quickly; a three hour dinner sounds long, but our evening went by in a flash. My BIL was wowed by the evening. He was in amazement with the 'inexplicably delicious' food, the mindful service, and being able to see a busy kitchen working so smoothly. I had to apologise to him that this experience will ruin him to all others, because nothing will compare. And huge appreciation to Chef Michael Cimarusti for acknowledging us in person. My apologies that you had to chase us down during a busy kitchen service, but I'm extremely grateful you caught us at the front door. It was an exceptional, memorable dining experience and we look forward to visiting again for many years to come. Congratulations on your 20 years!

Make a reservation. It gets super crowded. Providence is one of the best seafood places around. It is very expensive so we can only afford special occasions. We dcine there whenever we can. They have the best seafood. We love all of it, from their oysters to the scallops. Their crab is amazing and any side you order will be great. They have wonderful bread and a pastry chef so save room, it is so worth it. The place is just so pretty and clean and always looks new. It is comfortable and you are not rushed. The service is very nice and they have a great wine list. They know the menu well. We are saving our pennies for the next meal.

Two star Michelin experience

5/5 by 👻 @Shanelle on 01/16/2025

Two Michelin star meal with on point service. Everything was so well thought out and it was a lovely experience to celebrate New Year’s Eve. We paid for the meal when making the reservation (tip included) so you just need to pay for the drinks/any additional add-ons like oysters or white truffle. We had an 11 course menu and left feeling stuffed. Valet parking is available but we found street parking. This is a good spot to celebrate a special occasion. There is a private room for larger groups as well. We ate the following: - Amuse bouche - hash brown with uni, preserved Meyer lemon, and white truffle. This was a great start to the meal. - Spiny lobster in brioche and black truffle. my dad promptly declared it to be the best food he’s ever tasted. - Wagyu beef tartare wrapped in a puff pastry with truffle aioli and a truffle goldfish. The meat was tender and even. - Wild Japanese tai sashimi with yuzu shiso blossom. They added a crème fraîche that was made last winter. - Raviolo - Santa Barbara uni and scallop mousse with beluga caviar and chèvre from their garden. The uni tasted so fresh it - King crab tart - it came with a leg and a tart with English pea purée, king crab, pea tendrils, and pea blossom. - Sourdough Bread with Normandy butter and sea salt - it was freshly baked and apparently takes - Scallop with black truffles, green chile poblano, and a “scallop tea”with pine nuts - Golden tilefish (a prized deep sea fish) with chanterelles that were foraged by Victor and Olga in the Sierras and a brown butter and basalmic vinegar sauce - A5 Wagyu with sautéed greens and onion with a potato cake in clarified butter and truffle sauce - Japanese muskmelon with a champagne gelée on top of bergamot granita and mint on top - Apple tartin wrapped in puff pastry and black truffle ice cream with a caramel swirl

Tasty and delicate seafood dishes

5/5 by 👻 @Simon K. Nutt on 12/10/2024

A 2-Michelin Star fish-focused restaurant in Hollywood. I really enjoyed my meal at Providence. The tasting menu consisted of plate after plate of delicately crafted and beautifully presented fish dishes. Dishes like the canapés, caviar and potato, salt-baked Santa Barbara king prawn, roasted scallop, and salmon main dish were particular standouts. I was slightly underwhelmed by the desserts, especially the citrus-based pre-dessert, which I thought was too simple and slightly undersweetened. Overall, it was a great experience.

An excellent find in Los Angles for fine dining.

In looking for someplace to take my visiting mother for dinner, I stumbled upon Providence. The venue has a fantastic ambiance and we were greeted and seated promptly.... Starting with a cocktail, the menu of libations is quite varied and interesting. The tasting menu is what one would come for, but there are several options to start, including caviar service, to tailor your experience. The tasting menu itself has options for the main course to suit every taste. I chose the duck, but there was also a wagyu beef option. The is a fantastic wine selection available should you choose to have wine with dinner. However, there are two wine pairing options available, classic and premium, that are worth considering.

Overall, everything was fantastic.

5/5 by 👻 @Kevin W. on 07/23/2024

It was an 8 course set menu with the option for some add ons. The meal started off with amuse-bouche and there was a good balance of a citrus infused cracker topped with caviar, waygu beef tartare, alaska smoked king salmon, and a lobster dish of some sort. Then came our first dish which was the oyster mixed with caviar in a wonderful warm sauce that paired very well and felt very comforting. Our next dish was a light sashimi bathed in citrus and 400 year old sicilian olive oil. We opted to add an uni egg which was one of the highlights of the meal. The sea urchin with the combination of the sauce and croutons were an explosion of flavor in your mouth. The sea urchin didn't have a strong flavor and all the ingredients complemented each other very well. It all came out in a delicate egg shell and the presentation was amazing. In the middle of the meal, they brought out a house made red fife sourdough with French butter and Santa Barbara Maldon sea salt to pair with the next courses of the meal. Next came the norwegian king crab with sea urchin, fava bean and aged ham broth. It was followed by a lobster dish with spring onion and fennel. My favorite dish was probably the black cod which was cooked to perfection with a crispy skin paired with asparagus and nori. The pairing of it all just worked so exquisitely. We also added the black winter truffle on top of a pasta alla chitarra to the set menu and this was definitely a treat. The portions of the shaved truffle were quite generous and delicious. At this point we were quite full but the food kept coming. For the last course, I chose the liberty duck breast with duck sausage. The duck was done very well paired with a nice red sauce. My friend chose the alaska king salmon which came with a truffle, pancetta, and sunchoke mixture. The sauce for the salmon was similar to the pasta we got. For dessert, they started us off with the strawberry with bergamot sorbet which was so refreshing after our flavor forward meal. It was followed by a house made chocolate flourless cake with a cherry compote. Lastly, we were treated with a petit four which had a pistachio citrus dessert, hazelnut chocolate, chocolate caramel tart, and a blood orange jelly. They complemented it with a house tea infused with their chocolate with chocolate infused honey which was the perfect amount of sweetness. This was definitely one of the most intricate, elaborate, memorable meals to date. It is clear that the chef thought of every little detail in each dish. Everything was paced very well and they were attentive without being overbearing. The service was impeccable. Overall, Providence exceeded my expecatations. Definitely a place to go to for a nice celebration! Valet is $13 but there is also some street parking if you're lucky.

From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable, with every detail attended to with care and precision. The ambiance was elegant and inviting, setting the perfect tone for an unforgettable evening. One of the standout features of Providence was the cocktails. Though priced at $60, they are absolutely worth it--each one a masterpiece. The craftsmanship and creativity behind the bar are evident in every sip, making these cocktails the best I've ever had. They were perfectly balanced, with flavors that delighted and surprised. The culinary journey continued with an array of dishes that showcased the finest ingredients and masterful preparation. I came here for dinner a few weeks ago with a friend when her husband got sick 6 hours prior to their dinner reservation. I didn't know much about the restaurant going in except that I was nervous it was going to be stuffy and pretentious since it has 2 Michelin stars. However I was very pleasantly surprised and had a fantastic time. Food: everything was presented beautifully and was very tasty. It was also very filling. We added on a truffle risotto and that really pushed us over the edge to being way too full. Drinks: the mixed drinks were creative and very tasty. Service: the service was excellent. The staff was very nice, professional, and created an environment where I felt very at ease. Ambiance: the restaurant is beautiful and also had good background music. I am impressed with how comfortable and at ease this restaurant makes patrons feel. I have been to other Michelin rated restaurants where I felt a bit uncomfortable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a fine dining experience!

I probably can't say anything about Providence that hasn't already been said by real foodies/critics. This comment is more for people who very rarely do fine dining or haven't ever, but are considering going to Providence: DEFINITELY go. It's so very worth it. The service is excellent, the craftsmanship of the food is pristine, and overall the environment feels very elegant but accessible. You really feel like you're taken on a journey with the meal and you'll leave very impressed and satisfied. I think if you're considering this kind of price point for a special occasion dinner, Providence will more than deliver. Some specific notes: 1) I had to change my reservation same day from two to one because my friend's flight was cancelled; staff was so helpful accommodating me. Also, they called me to let me know my table was ready early which was very thoughtful 2) The volume in this place is perfect. As someone with bad hearing who is also used to going to "cool" restaurants where they're blasting music at club levels, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate being able to communicate without anyone having to scream. 3) Add on the Uni egg to your meal. It is in fact life changing.

Providence is amazing. The execution is fantastic and we genuinely enjoyed every single dish. My husband still says the amuse bouche trio is the best thing he's ever eaten. The customized menu for our anniversary was a sweet touch. We have it hanging on our fridge. Our waiter was a tall younger Hispanic man with glasses. Phenomenal Food, Non-alcoholic Pairing, Service & Atmosphere

5/5 by 👻 @OCAnn on 06/23/2024

This is my annual love letter to Providence; our annual visit to the restaurant that began over a dozen years ago when they offered their four-course tasting menu ($90 back then ?) to celebrate their anniversary month of June. The food was so good and the experience so memorable, we've continued to go every June since then, to commemorate, to celebrate, such a wonderful, special restaurant. If you're a regular, everyday, working person (like me), and you've previously dined at Providence, the first part of the excitement begins when you've scored a reservation for the time & date of your choosing. And as the day draws near, anticipation builds. Then, they call a couple days prior to confirm your plans, ask about allergies, or whether you're celebrating anything. That call reawakens your excitement. The day of, you think about what to wear and when to leave so you don't run late. And if you hit traffic, that's when anxiety sets in. But if you make it within their 15 minute grace period, you're set for the evening's feast. If you valet, keep your ticket out until you're at the hostess station; they might ask for the ticket number so that your car is ready & waiting when you leave after dinner. Once seated in the beautiful, adult grotto, you finally relax, ready for an adult beverage. This night, we asked for one of their signature cocktails prepared tableside. Your drink is made before you, with a beautiful storytelling of each ingredient going into the glass. For me, I felt mesmerised...like a child, eyes-wide, watching a puppet show. It added to the specialness of the evening. They also started a non-alcoholic beverage pairing some months ago. I don't often drink (alcohol) when I go out these days, so when I heard about the mocktail pairing, I was keen. The drinks were DELICIOUS. About half were house-made cocktails with house-made or house-grown herbs; the other half were commercial beverages. Either way, they were all really good, with my preference leaning to the house-made. I strongly recommend this pairing; it's a must try. If they keep this, it's something I'll order each and every time. As always, the multiple amuse bouche, the courses, the supplements (salt roasted spot prawns and the cheese course) were scrumptiously phenomenal. I was elated to see salmon back on the menu; our last visit, it was not. The dishes were dialed-in like never before; it was the best meal & experience, more than any previous year. It was perfectly beautiful and delicious. For me, dinner here is the Gen-X equivalent of an e-ticket ride. It was fun. It felt good. It felt life-affirming to get dressed up and enjoy and celebrate a night with someone you love. On the whole, it an was exquisite, amazing and phenomenal evening of food, service (thank you Mr Peoples!) and atmosphere. You leave satiated, content and walking on Cloud 9. This is my annual love letter to Providence; our annual

5/5 by 👻 @Ann E. on 06/21/2024

We initially checked OpenTable for reservations but nothing

5/5 by 👻 @Young C. on 06/15/2024

We initially checked OpenTable for reservations but nothing was available and added ourselves to the wait list! We weren't sure if we'd be able to get one so made separate reservations at a different restaurant. 1 day prior to the said date we wanted to- Providence reached out and we were so excited they did. While I had previously dined at Providence before, my husband had not and really wanted to go for our anniversary. Fast forward to dinner. We arrived 10 minutes early and valet promptly took care of us as did the host as soon as we entered. Service was phenomenal as expected. Food was delicious as expected. What was not expected but delighted us the most was Carlos. CARLOS IS A GEM. Never lose him! It was almost like we had always been Carlos' friend and he dropped by to say hi. He took care of us in a way that most restaurants do not. My husband was obsessed with the bread and Carlos so generously brought him an entire loaf in a bag to take home! (He ate said bread to r next day). Thank you Providence and Carlos. We can't wait to see you again!

5/5 by 👻 @Brian H. on 03/15/2024

They don't serve normal food or drinks, they only serve heaven on plates and in glasses. I have no idea what the name of my drink was but I never had anything like it. UH-MAZING. That was before I ate a bite. Doesn't matter what you get, because my party got half the menu and we tasted. Everything was fit for an emperor. UH-MAZING. Most of us didn't even realize food could taste this way. Never had anything like it but I very much hope to again. Didn't know service could be that kind of good. Absurdly expensive, yes, but worth twice the price. If you can afford it, you most definitely should eat here or drink here or just walk in the front door for a smell. UH-MAZING.

My birthday dinner at Providence in Los Angeles was an

5/5 by 👻 @Joyce Y. on 03/13/2024

My birthday dinner at Providence in Los Angeles was an absolute delight, and a big part owing to the fantastic service which was incredibly courteous and thoughtful, making us feel truly special. The ambiance was romantic and indulgent, setting the perfect tone for a memorable birthday treat. While the food was delicious, I did find it to be on the salty side. Although considering Providence's seafood specialty, maybe I'm just not used to the brininess that surprised me with some of the dishes. I liked the Asian influence in a lot of the dishes. The wagyu was an absolute standout, melting in my mouth with every bite. I've never had such a thick cut of wagyu and it was such a treat. I'm glad our server talked me into the upgrade! The drinks were delicious and thoughtfully made too, adding to the overall enjoyment of the meal. One aspect that truly impressed me was the use of in-house grown or made ingredients, adding a unique and thoughtful touch to each dish. And let's not forget about the granola they send you home with - absolutely delicious! Parking is either valet or there's a lot of street parking. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Providence. It was the perfect way to celebrate my birthday, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience in LA.

Perfection is an understatement.

5/5 by 👻 @Alex J. on 03/11/2024

Expectations are left at the door because Providence exceeds any idea of an expectation you even think you could have. Excellence is achieved in every single aspect you knew, and every single way you did not even remotely imagine could be possible. I had a solo dinner on Friday and as soon as I entered, the host was incredibly kind and asked my name directly, confirming it was for my reservation. I sat at the bar which, at first, I was a bit hesitant but upon finishing this experience, the bar is an absolutely amazing place to enjoy a Providence dinner. My bartender Kim was a fantastic human and an incredible bartender. Of course the menu is set but I added a few supplemental items like the Uni Egg, Truffle Riosotto, and A5 Wagyu. I also ordered a couple drinks. I'll start with the drinks. The first, Japanese Penicillin, was incredible. Smooth, bold, sharp, refreshing, tart, sour, it was one of the best cocktails I've ever had. One of the other best cocktails I've ever had was my second drink, the Suavecito. An off-menu special for the night, I was confused when it was first served, as, pictured, it's clear. When one of the waitresses first explained that it used coconut milk, guava, etc, I expected it to be sweet and "colorful". But this clear glass of liquid heaven was INSANE. It was so light and smooth while still packing a punch with flavor and the booze. Now for that service. I think I encountered 20 people, between hosts, wait staff, bussers, bartenders, and of course, Chef Michael Ciramusti himself! Chef was waiting for me at the front before leaving and I had the chance to not only thank him endlessly, but chat a bit about some dishes and just the overall experience. He couldn't be more humble, gracious, and talented. Every single member of staff was so genuinely kind. Not the "I'm gunna be nice for a bigger tip" but the "I love working here, I enjoy serving these people, and I am proud to represent this two Michelin star establishment". The food was, simply put, to die for. Every single dish was perfect. The Amuse Bouche alone kicked me off to such a great start that I would've been happy ending it right then and there. But wait - THERE WAS MORE! Uni Egg. Unequivocally Excellent. Uni with mushrooms. Fantastic. One Potato, Two Potato - a classic redefined and revolutionized. Tai Sashimi. Profound. Sourdough Loaf from Tehachapi. Cozy home warmth. Truffle Risotto. Sublime. Wagyu. Bold. Salmon. Heaven sent. Scallop. Simply put? The best scallop I've ever had. Striped Bass. Traditions. All the chocolate was like what you want every Valentine's chocolate to actually be. Those 3-4 plates of chocolate brought Belgium, France, Switzerland, Italy, Hawai'i, right to your mouth. The chocolate tea was MIND BLOWING. You smell hot chocolate. You drink literally "chocolate tea". WHAT. And that citrus fruit dessert was like waking up and dying on an orange grove. Seriously. Anyone who says otherwise about Providence needs a psychiatric evaluation. I'm ready to come back and I'm ready to experience this all over again.

Something I wouldn't even want to indulge in often because it was so special. Of course we had to get the uni egg and salt roasted Santa Barbara spot prawns outside of the prefixed menu. Everything was divine. Our server Ivar was above and beyond knowledgeable, kind, and witty. The restaurant had an atmosphere that felt extremely high end but not gaudy or pretentious. I savored the entire experience and can't find a single reason they don't have 3 stars at this point. But when they do, I'll be back!

Once in a life experience! Their food, ambiance and service was superb! Each piece was a work of art. Initially you see the food and think so little?!? Why can't they serve couple pieces of each but by the time you get your first dessert dish you're absolutely full! But there are two more dessert dishes! So make sure you come with an empty hungry stomach! Their cocktail was really good too. Also because it's a course meal you should expect to spend at least 3 hours to eat the full course. I'd suggest the earliest time when the restaurant opens.

What an absolutely gorgeous experience! The food and wine

What an absolutely gorgeous experience! The food and wine easily deserve another star...on par, or better, than any 3 Michelin we've had. Every bite was a masterclass in elegance, balance, and beauty. The somm was charming and provided perfect pairings throughout the evening. If I'm being hyper-critical to the point of silliness, there were the tiniest of minute hiccups in the service that didn't impact our experience in the slightest but could explain why they haven't gotten their third star. Nonetheless, we felt it was a perfect evening and are so thankful to have a destination-worthy restaurant of this caliber in Los Angeles. Bravo Providence!

Due to last-minute reservations at the bar next to another individual from New Orleans area. We both thought the restaurant was overrated and overpriced (food good, not outstanding at these prices) certainly compared to even Paris or New York City. But was particularly annoying to me is I thought they missed giving me 1 of the courses and rather than replacing it up as each of the courses were very tiny, they said no, you're given a course. Obviously they do not believe that the customers always right.

A Meal for the Memories

5/5 by 👻 @OCAnn on 07/02/2023

This was our annual trek to Providence from OC. A 90 minute drive up that's usually abt a 30 minute drive home (though this visit, the PGA US Open was in town and doubled our time home). We rarely return twice to a fine dining location unless it's really THAT good...and Providence is one of those rare restaurants. Over the years, I've become a fan of Mr Donato Poto and he's part of the reason I return. His FOH table-side manners are just so exquisite, understated and lovely. Last year, I dined at another Michelin starred restaurant and had a chat with the chef; he asked what my favourite restaurant was. How do you answer THAT question? He said he wouldn't be offended and would appreciate a frank answer; so I told him on balance of food and service, it would be Providence for fine dining. And then he added, that, yes, chefs Michael Cimarusti and Tristan Aitchison create delicious menus and the service by Mr Poto is one that's hard to beat. So Mr Poto has fans in other chefs. Anyway, to my dismay, Mr Poto wasn't there that evening. But, his son Nick was. Mr Nick Poto, like his father, was generous and gracious. He was also friendly, energetic and kind, as was our server Ivar. We were in good hands. Also, the restaurant underwent a gorgeous remodel this spring. It felt like a nice, romantic, adult, elevated grotto, awash in oceanic green. There were fewer tables, adding to a more exclusive ambiance. It was a nice change. The food was delicious. This summer, the menu tasted more French inspired with the sauces. Before, the flavours were more Japanese-inspired; clean, vibrant, yet subtle. This go-around, it was more luscious, requiring us to use the red fife sourdough to get every bit of the sauce. And there was one dish that had red shiso, that was so yummy it blew my mind. As a fan of seafood, I love returning here each year. My favourites of the evening are depicted below; of those, the playful One Potato Two Potato caviar dish was stunning. I've had caviar at the Petrossian Cafe inside Tiffany's a month prior and Providence's was better than anything they offered. The amuse bouche always delights, as does the salt-roasted spot prawns served table-side, the chocolate husk tea and the takeaway granola. If you pick one fine dining restaurant in LA, this would be it.

I had never heard of John Dory till I dined here, it was so fun to try a new fish and I was in love with the way that they prepared it! It had such unique and delicious flavors. The chocolate dessert was so delectable and the apple one was extremely refreshing. I love everything about this restaurant, the beautiful dining room matches the beautiful food being served. I really wish that they gave you menus at the end but I loved that they gave us a providence bag as well as some house made granola on our way out!

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Providence Los Angeles at 6 PM the same day.
