Paperboy Austin Reviews
Tried Paperboy in Austin for the first time for breakfast.
We usually go to The Well but decided to try something new. The food felt very fresh and clean which I really loved. Our waitress was so sweet and made the experience even better. Safe to say I would come back here again next time I am in Austin.
My first time in Austin, straight off the plane to paperboy
My first time in Austin, straight off the plane to paperboy east and can I just say 20/10 experience!! The entire staff was incredible. It started with Justin and Alexa at the front who were so welcoming, friendly and helpful! We had our bags and were just trying to find a place to sit down and eat for a while before our hotel check in. They went above and beyond to take care of us, on a busy Sunday brunch too!! The food came out quick, fresh and delicious! We had a hectic travel day and this turned it around completely! Meg and Hannah took amazing care of us and just continued to enhance our experience!! Justin even came to the table before we were done to check in and suggest other things in Austin that were a must if we've never been here. The music was also perfection. Will be telling everyone I know to go to Austin and to come to Paperboy East!! -Bella & Gill!
We came to Paperboy for brunch around 10am and waited about
We came to Paperboy for brunch around 10am and waited about an hour, which seems pretty common. The wait was worth it. The space has a great vibe with indoor, outdoor, and rooftop seating, though the waiting area and parking are both limited. I had the chicken and biscuit with gravy and it was amazing. Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. My husband ordered the Migas and loved it. Everything tasted like it was made with really fresh, high quality ingredients. I had a mimosa and he got a cocktail, and both drinks hit the spot. Overall, Paperboy lives up to the hype. If you do not mind a wait and can manage the parking, it is absolutely worth checking out. I recommend coming early and being prepared to wait, especially during brunch hours, since it gets busy fast.
What a cute perfect rooftop for easy breezy casual brunch!
What a cute perfect rooftop for easy breezy casual brunch! The coffee was decent, bringing me back to their coffee truck days, but the key lime brioche, suggested by an attentive expo (when I was told the guava poptart was sold out,) completely stole the show! Encroyable! It was somewhat like a cinamonbun take on brioche, but with a delish creamy yet lime tang icing, yeasty, moist, and parfait with coffee. Chef's kiss! It is more than worth mentioning that the staff, especially my impeccably polite, attentive even though she was super busy server, went above and beyond to accommodate us, allowing my late bff to order as an exception even though it was slightly after 3, and just so friendly and cheerful, five stars all around! Possibly the best, least pretentious waitstaff in Austin. Go Paperboy, inspiring, delish surprises, hipster and cute!
Paperboy has 2 locations, and this one is their location
Paperboy has 2 locations, and this one is their location along E 11th. In terms of parking, there's a small lot right across that fills up really quickly. There's a decent amount of street parking nearby too. Highly highly recommend making an online reservation for the best use of your time! This was my second time visiting Paperboy, and the business has grown a ton in terms of popularity. The first time, I got the Texas Hash and wasn't super impressed (3/5 for flavor and price). This time, decided to check out some of Paperboy's sweet breakfast/brunch options. We were seated at the shaded patio area upstairs, which made for a really nice, relaxing vibe. Our server was also very attentive. Paperboy Pancake ($12, 4/5) - More than enough to fill you up! It has a dense, cornbread consistency, which I personally liked. If you're someone who likes pancakes that are fluffy, though, would recommend trying other things on the menu. - Comes with brown butter and a bit of sea salt on top, with the usual side of maple syrup - Option to add blueberries or chocolate chips for $3 Earl Grey Cold Brew ($5.5, 4.5/5) - Made with oat milk + earl grey honey syrup - Really liked the earl grey flavor, and it was a nice complement to the Paperboy Pancake Also got to sample some of the cinnamon toast and strawberry & pecan pop tart, which were both tasty! Overall I still think that Paperboy is a tad pricey depending on what you order, but I would be happy to come back for the sweet options on the menu. Note: There's a 3% kitchen gratuity that automatically gets added to your bill.
Super busy when we came! Parking is confusing.
Food and drinks were excellent! Server recommended hibiscus tea with the ginger lime sweetener, definitely a refreshing choice on such a hot day. Ambience was great, although it was hot that day, it didn't feel as hot when we got seated outside. At least there was shade. They provide water if you are waiting, wait time came definitely be long

Food was great, Emily was a great server! She was very attentive and helped us decide what we wanted to order. Her recommendation of the green matcha lemonade was really great!

So happy I finally got to try this place after hearing so much about it! I'm not much of a brunch person, but I appreciated that they have lighter options that don't just make me want to nap for the rest of the day. The Earl Grey latte is really good. The pancake was fluffy and the brown butter is divine. The lox toast was also nice. But overall, the meal didn't blow my mind. Ambience wise it's pleasant, nice outdoor seating, and I really like the area for vintage clothes and household goods shopping. Service was relatively quick and friendly. Keep in mind the bathroom line can be kind of slow.
The ambience is very nice.
Great food, great atmosphere. my wife and I enjoyed this place.
our server maddie was awesome! so fun to talk with.
the patio was so cute and the food was great
Super fun for Sunday funday! They have bottomless mimosas
Super fun for Sunday funday! They have bottomless mimosas and great food for a decent price for dt Austin!
Took a recent trip to Austin and ate here on our last day.
Of our 5 day trip, this was potentially my favorite place. Food: bussin'. Coffee: wow. Service: fantastic. Vibe: wonderful. I would have to go weekly if I lived in Austin.
Drawn by the "locally owned and operated" to this little
Drawn by the "locally owned and operated" to this little gem... and I visited after fasting for a doctors appointment, so I was starving! Parking is pretty limited but I found parking in the neighborhood since it was around lunch time. I was so happy that I was able to be seated immediately at a little table looking at the bar area. It seems like a great place to bring someone for a fun atmosphere, but I would come here by myself everyday just for the food. I ordered the migas and added pork carnitas, which were crispy and delicious as they should be. Served with the migas was an avocado lime Serrano sauce that I could probably drink. Just the right amount of heat to round out the carnitas. Last but not least, the almond horchata!!! More people need to do this take on the classic drink. Thanks yall, I will be back for the chicken and biscuit, it felt like betrayal to do that without my partner!!
This spot gets super packed to the point where at times
This spot gets super packed to the point where at times they're so busy you can only get in with a reservation. We stopped by on a Monday around 9:30 am and lucked out by getting right in. However, they were still super busy. There's a reason for the busy...THE FOOD IS NEAR PERFECTION! I mean literally everything we ate popped with flavor. I had the ricotta toast and it was pure heaven. Super cute upscale diner feel. Staff were genuinely so damn nice!
After numerous recommendations about this spot, I finally
After numerous recommendations about this spot, I finally gave in! I came here on a Monday which luckily it was not too busy compared to weekend's from what I was told. It took us about a 10 minute wait and we got sat down at the bar. I didn't know they had an upstairs also which I thought was cool. I started offed with their cucumber lime lemonade. Super refreshing, I'm not a coffee person in the mornings. For entrees I had the "Chicken & Biscuit". When I tell you that chicken was cooked to PERFECTION. Just how crispy it was made it so much better. The spicy honey was such a well balanced that it mixed so well. Not too sweet nor spicy. The biscuit was so buttery, topping it off with the gravy so much flavor. I ordered a side seasoned potato wedges. It came with this sauce that wasn't too appetizing by the color or it but like they say don't judge a book by its cover. I can't describe what it was but it was their secret sauce that had these delicious flavors. Also, they don't care like brand sauces so when I asked for hot sauce it's made in house. Very tasty! Next was migas, it was definitely different from what I typically see. It looked like an omelette and the tortillas were stuffed inside topped with avocado. Can't go wrong with migas whatsoever. Lastly, we tried their pecan orange cinnamon roll. I will say I wish I had gotten it after our meal after all the savory food we had. The orange tang was just on point not overpowering the whole cinnamon, pecan's gave a good little crunch. Overall, it was wondrous experience. Staff were super friendly, I enjoyed being able to see the kitchen in action and pulling out dishes left and right at such a calm environment. Can't wait to return!
This brunch restaurant is notoriously known for its booked
This brunch restaurant is notoriously known for its booked up reservations and long waiting periods, so my friend and I decided to come at 9AM on a Sunday, and the wait time ended up only being around 20 minutes thank goodness! If you can't make a reservation, then I'd recommend coming to the restaurant early so that you can not only secure a spot, but also a shorter waiting period! With all that in mind, the food was personally worth THE hype! We started off sharing an order of the Cinnamon Toast, and rather than using butter, the restaurant uses a whipped mascarpone (soft Italian cream cheese) to layer the foundation of the toast, topped with crunchy cinnamon-like crumble! I was absolutely obsessed with its toast like crunch with a soft and buttery inside! We should have saved this order as a dessert, but I have no regrets haha! As for the Chicken & Biscuit, I was genuinely already happy to see the amount of chicken for this $20 entree because some other places might give you two pieces of chicken (on a good day lol). This order came with three meaty pieces of chicken with the perfect amount of sweetness and tenderness, complimented by an airy, fried chicken crunch. The side of gravy was the perfect blend of a savory and sweet entree for me! If you don't know what to get at this place, you absolutely won't go wrong with this choice! I'll definitely need to come back again to try out some of their other dishes and hopefully will be able to skip those horrendous wait times again haha! :)
The best breakfast in Austin
Paperboy was a great find and just a couple block east of Franklin bbq. Paperboy started as a food truck and is now in a relatively small building. We had to wait 30 minutes but they have a take out window where you can get drinks. The Bloody Mary's here are superb. We ordered Texas hash and the chicken and biscuit. Both were excellent but the Chicken was the star.
Best thing about eating with your friends is splitting
Best thing about eating with your friends is splitting dishes and getting to try multiple dishes! We walked in at 10:30 am on a Monday and there was a slight crowd outside but we were sat immediately on the rooftop. The interior of the restaurant is so charming and modern yet simple. The rooftop, since it is exposed to the elements, does come with its share of circling birds and flies so keep that in mind when deciding to sit inside or outside. The almond horchata was nice without being too sweet. I typically get horchata at taco trucks so this one was definitely tame in comparison. I got the b.e.c and I loved the creamy aspect the jam and pimento cheese added to the sandwich. The folded scrambled egg and bacon was perfectly proportioned to the bolillo roll which had a nice crunch. I had a few pieces of the arugula and radish but it really didn't serve much purpose. The cheddar hashbrowns were yummy but I didn't get much of the cheddar flavor. They had a nice crunch and the green onions plus the sauce brightened up potatoes. The chicken & biscuit was a great portion size. The chicken had a great crunch with plenty of seasoning. The biscuit was nice and soft, not dry at all. I will say I visited Paperboy about a year ago and I was incredibly impressed. This time the food was very enjoyable but I don't feel as strong as a pull to return as I did before.

Favorite spot in Austin! Great service, great food, and worth the wait. Breakfast on their rooftop (when the weather is nice) is one of the best ways you can hope to start your day in Austin.

We loved our brunch here, recommended by a local who waits tables at another spot. Delicious food, tasty coffee drink, friendly staff. Good vibes all around. We came back the next day!
We came here straight after getting ENGAGED!
This place has such a special place in our hearts. We came here, straight after getting engaged (at Mount Bonnell). We arrived at about 8:00am. We told them what just happened, and they brought over some champagne, we must have looked absolutely crazy due to the fact it was 8:00am on a Tuesday, but were on such a high and it was much appreciated! After sipping my champagne, and trying to read the menu without being distracted by the new rock on my finger, we finally decided on the 'Chorizo, potato & cheese empanada' the 'Cinnamon Toast with whipped mascarpone, walnut streusel' and the 'Cheddar Hash Brown', also 2 coffees. We loved absolutely everything, so delicious, and a memorable first breakfast as Fiancรฉes! We loved the vibe of this place and its chic interior, we would love to come back, it's a shame it's so far away from us, as we live in London. Next time we're in Austin, it's an absolute must!
Probably the best brunch place Iโve been to!
Went here three days straight during a stay in Austin for business. I ordered Texas hash, Kale bowl, Granola bowl and the empenada. All of them were 10/10 imho. Donโt miss if youโre around
Wow what a place!!!!!!
This is my favorite breakfast restaurant in Austin. I hate writing a review itโs so good and what a selection of food. The pop tarts are the best, fresh and delicious. Everything on the menu is soooo great!!!!!
Worth the wait
Like many popular restaurants thereโs a long wait to get a table. We knew that in advance so we took the time to walk around this little neighborhood. Unfortunately, the Texas music museum was not open but we explored the neighborhood and vintage clothing shops etc. etc.. The food was exceptional. I had the Migos and my wife had the blueberry pancakes, blueberries were extra. We had a hash brown with really spicy sauce. Sat outside, which we couldnโt do back home on day like today so it was really enjoyable. Service was outstanding and I would highly recommend it
Read all about it!
This was a fantastic breakfast. I had the migas and my husband had the chicken and biscuit. Our waiter, Jacob, was superb. The hash browns were an added treat. We cannot say enough good things about our experience.
Great breakfast
Reviews are right - this was a great place to eat breakfast. A full range of breakfast choices which included good gluten free options. We sat outside despite the cold weather and were warm under the heaters. We went mid week and there were no lines
Fantastic
One of the best breakfasts I've had in years! So good, I had to make the long drive through insane traffic for another meal the next morning.
First time to Austin
First off breakfast isn't my favourite meal. So I was happy to see other items on the Menu. The atmosphere is nice. We sat outside, there were fans blowing and great ambience music that was not interfering with table conversation. Our server Lindsey was a great. She was the perfect amount of attentiveness!!! There were 6 of us with different taste, one of us celiac, and there was something for everyone. Everyone's food was spot on and very delicious Paperboy exceeded our expectations and would recommend for sure!!
My Favorite Place in Austin
