Every visit to Nobu Malibu with my wife is a fantastic
Every visit to Nobu Malibu with my wife is a fantastic experience. The food is always amazing, the drinks are excellent, and you just can't beat the breathtaking ocean view it makes every meal feel special. The staff is a huge part of why we keep coming back. Kat always greets us warmly at the host stand, Luca brings out our food with great care, and Chef Anson prepares sushi that's truly unforgettable. The service from Sappier, Chris, Samantha, and James is consistently outstanding friendly, attentive, and professional. Great food, great drinks, great people, and an unbeatable view Nobu Malibu never disappoints.

The food here was absolutely outstanding -- truly worthy of praise. Every dish was expertly prepared, with flavors that were exceptional and memorable. The ambiance was equally impressive, creating the perfect setting for a flawless evening. The service itself was excellent -- warm, attentive, and professional -- but there was one major missed opportunity that stood out. Our host, a highly successful business owner from a well-established family, paid with an AMEX Centurion card -- often referred to as the "Black Card." Fewer than 200,000 people in the entire world have one. This card is more than just a payment method; it's a strong indicator of elite clientele and a chance for a restaurant to go above and beyond in creating a remarkable experience. Unfortunately, the staff and management didn't seem to recognize its significance. There was no acknowledgment from the manager, no extra touch to elevate the experience, and no effort to build a relationship with a potentially very loyal and influential guest. While the evening was wonderful overall, this was a major missed opportunity. I highly recommend that management train staff to recognize the AMEX Centurion card -- and similar signals of high-value clientele -- so that they can act accordingly, even if it's as simple as having a manager stop by to thank the guest personally and make a note for future visits. That level of attentiveness is what transforms an already excellent restaurant into a truly world-class destination.
This is a long overdue review for Nobu.
The food was delicious and enjoyable, though for the price I feel there are other restaurants that could offer more variety and flavor. The ambience is a real highlight. It strikes a balance where it can feel casual yet also a little more formal depending on the occasion. The restaurant overlooks a body of water, which creates a relaxing and scenic atmosphere while you dine. The service was also very good. The staff was attentive and the food came out quickly without any long waits. Overall, Novo provides tasty dishes in a beautiful setting with great service. While the value may not quite match the price point compared to other options, the atmosphere and experience make it worth visiting.

We came here for my wife's birthday this year, and WOW! First off the setting by the water is amazing, and the experience you get from your waiter is great. They helped us try a little bit of everything. Next time I think we will probably be able to order what we know we want but everything we tried was so good. 5
We went here for my birthday.
The wait was long but the view is AMAZING! It's overpriced but it's LA what do you expect??? Famous people are there but want to be left alone so they go here. I don't think it's as life changing as it's made out to be but it's still fantastic.
We love coming to Nobu Malibu -- definitely worth the hype
We love coming to Nobu Malibu -- definitely worth the hype The interior seating is very elegant, but the outside patio is exceptional with one of the most beautiful ocean views you can imagine, as the restaurant is literally right up on the water The food is spectacular with some really unique and creative dishes, as well as some classics that you can't miss The lunch omakase is the best value if you want to get a nice selection of hot dishes, cold dishes, cooked fish, meat, and nigiri The first appetizer we had -- jelly with seared toro, uni, caviar, and gold flakes -- was one of the best dishes I've ever had The sauce on the prime tenderloin was so tasty and the meat was perfectly cooked Black cod miso lettuce wraps and the creamy rock shrimp tempura are staples that you can't miss and won't regret ordering The salmon belly with sea salt truffle oil was truly one of the best bites of nigiri I've ever had The service is excellent as they're very attentive and kind Definitely worth checking out and trying if you're considering

I've been eyeing this spot for what feels like forever, but reservations are notoriously hard to snag. So when I finally secured a booking for my birthday night during sunset, it felt like a small victory! (booked exactly at 12am one month in advance on OpenTable) From the moment we arrived, the view alone was enough to take your breath away--golden hour spilling over the city skyline, casting a warm glow on every table. It truly set the tone for a magical evening. We kicked things off with their famous lychee martini (a must!) and another cocktail whose name escapes me, but the taste didn't--both were sweet, refreshing, and expertly balanced. To start, we ordered the tuna tacos and the tuna atop potato chips. While the portions were definitely on the smaller side, not worth it for the price...but the quality of the fish more than made up for it--fresh, delicate, and full of flavor. Then came the star of the night: the miso black cod. I had high hopes, but it exceeded every expectation. The marinade had an almost unagi-like richness--sweet, savory, and perfectly caramelized. It was melt-in-your-mouth tender and easily my favorite dish of the night, with the crispy rice tuna coming in at a close second. Overall, the I think it was worth coming for a special occasion or a once-in-a-while indulgence, it's an experience that hits all the right notes--scenic, flavorful, and uniquely LA.

We sat at the bar while we waited for our table and had a couple drinks while we watched the football game, such a fun place for Happy Hour! At the bar we had an appetizer - 2 regular oysters and 4 miso oysters, we absolutely loved the miso oysters. Staff is so friendly and kind here. They were attentive, helpful and knowledgeable about the menu items. Once we sat we ordered: Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeños - (10/10) Wow! So yummy, they serve the best ponzu sauce with this dish. Must order if you're a yellowtail fan. Rice Crispy Spicy Tuna - (10/10) So flavorful with the perfect balance of rice and tuna. Fluke Sashimi with Dry Miso - Amazing, highly recommend! This dish is SO yummy and unique to Nobu. Chilean Sea Bass with Dry Miso - (15/10) Wow again! This dish is amazing, we highly, highly recommend. Fish was so fresh, served with asparagus. Must try! Spicy Tuna cut roll and Yellowtail cut roll - Both were amazing, I don't typically like Seaweed but I love how fresh the Seaweed is here.

Worst service worst restaurant ever don't even waste your time. Don't even waste your money. It's not worth spending 100a even thousands of dollars to be under strict rules. The sushi is horrible for the price you're better off going to kabuki . I travel the world never saw a service like this. If you stand next to the beach, they will tell you go back to your table. If you take a picture with the flash, they will come to shut it down And birthday celebration. We had they ask to order the dessert and the best thing they can do is to add a candle. The food is bad quality. I'm wondering how people are still going there. Nobu has built a name the only thing they have is the name there is nothing behind it.

Amazing experience! The food, the view and service was terrific! Our server John G was personable, attentive and gave us a memorable lunch! Best sushi ever!
Still My Favorite Spot in Malibu
This was my second time dining at Nobu Malibu and this time I wanted to bring my husband so he could experience it too especially the gorgeous sunset. The view is honestly one of the best you’ll find in Malibu, and it really adds to the whole experience. We had a table on the patio, and the timing was perfect. Watching the sun go down while having dinner there is something you just can’t beat. The staff shout “Irasshaimase!” to welcome you such a spirited tradition. The food was excellent. We started with the crispy spicy tuna—a must. It’s slightly different than other Nobu locations and even better here. We also had the yellowtail jalapeño, black cod miso, rock shrimp tempura, and padron peppers. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly done. Service was great friendly, professional, and well paced. Our server knew the menu so well and gave great recommendations. It’s definitely a spot to book ahead and go around sunset. The setting, food, and vibe make it worth it every time.
Disappointed in service
Although the food was excellent, when I go to a restaurant and spend a lot of money I expect the service to meet the same quality as the food. My experience was sub par and very disappointing! Our waters were only filled once when glasses were empty and waited a very long time for the dessert menu, which our server said he would bring. Server finally came after 10 min of sitting there and asked if someone took our dessert order and said no we are now ready for our check! Disappointed in this experience!
Extremely disrespectful host
The main host was extremely rude. She kept contradicting herself the manager was clearly siding with her but tried to accommodate and failed because our issue was never resolved very badly treated for a place that’s charging so much money and is suppose to be an experience not worth the visit at all.
NOBU NO-GO
This is a review about a restaurant I’ve never dined at. Nobu. Be it Nobu London, Nobu Dubai or Nobu Malibu. I was refused a table at all three- I did not “book a month in advance”. Today, Nobu Malibu invited me to come in and take a chance. My (white) brother in law went inside, got the go ahead for seating but when we three (Indians) joined- the offer vanished! The explanation was garbled- we meant we would seat you at the bar, we are waiting for no shows, but even if so, we can’t give it to you etc. This was a Wednesday afternoon at 4pm with tables empty. And finally - the “book a month in advance” line. So let’s test this - can you book me for a month ahead? Sorry, we can’t. It was disdain calculated to hurt and offend. And so we left. Was this racism, as my angry brother in law called it? Sometimes white folks detect this faster than us brown ones. Or was it Nobu Restaurants just being itself. If it was racism, then Nobu Hospitality is being foolish. Today, Indians are one of the world’s biggest spenders in the luxury segment and ruffling them is just bad for revenue. Belittling a guest could never have been the vision of founder Chef Nobu whose Wikipedia entry states that as a child raised by a single (widowed) mother he “witnessed first hand the reaches of poverty and hunger” or even co founder Robert De Niro who “befriended many street kids in Little Italy, NY” growing up. And why the attitude- with over 56 restaurants, Nobu is not sui generis. It’s a (luxury) food chain. Fine dining, like art, is a measure of my ability to appreciate fine food, the ambience and the company I choose to share it with. I don’t need to “know somebody” to get a table. Or impress a restaurant to give them business. I patronise (and pay) for the experience of being served. Even assuming we include status as a parameter, how can a restaurant manager make this assessment by simply looking at me? Any banker will tell you that the first rule of true wealth is that it is disguised under the cloak of unassuming casualness. Wealth also assumes that I am not going to wait a month for a meal. Frankly, I do not know where I will be or what I would like to eat a month from today. I didn’t know I would be vacationing in Malibu a month ago. Isn’t this the other measure of true wealth? The ability and time to do what I want to - on a whim? If so then Nobu fails both these classic tests of luxury. It’s time this approach is called out and cancelled. The MICHELIN Guide and world renowned food critics like Jay Rayner, Helen Rosner, Bill Addison, Harriet Fitch Little, Tim Carman would rate this too - does a restaurant make a guest comfortable and “at home” or is it calculated to awe and overwhelm. If so, then I’ll take my food and business some place else. As will my friends- Indians and otherwise. Great food but ….
Service was abysmal. Table wobbly so food dropped on floor. No one offered us new food for ages Bill was wrong ,overcharged by 25pct.Wrong dish was served. Food was tasty especially the miso black cod but they need to sort their act out before we go back for more .
Lovely setting
I have only recently started eating Japanese food. As a very picky eater I am reluctant to try new food. Anyway I did and it was all wonderful. The setting (overlooking the ocean ) is perfect. The service was excellent and I couldn’t fault the whole experience. Expensive, but Nobu always is. Would definitely go back again.
What the heck happened to my Nobu?
Going to Nobu (and the Malibu locations) for 20+ years. Simply put, the food sucked at our last visit. It was average a few months back but the location made up for it. No longer the case. Even the service has gone downhill. But, it’s the food that’s shockingly bad. If Nobu Malibu was a stock, I’d short the heck out of it
Alarmingly, Disastrous Customer Service. Non-celebrities proceed with caution entering this establishment.
This is not my first time at Nobu and the experience today was alarming as I was excited to invite my family to dine with me here instead of the LA location where we usually dine. Sammy the manager and Tina at the front desk are two of the rudest individuals I have EVER come across while fine dining. My mother and I came in earlier for our reservation at 2pm at around 1:25pm. We came this early because Nobu almost NEVER seats on time, or at least in my experience they haven't, and because of the guests I had with me, I wanted it to be the case that when they arrived, we would have checked in and already be sat. The hostess at the front desk told me that CLOSER to 2 is when we would most likely be seated. It was about 1:52pm and I went in to check in with them to see how much longer we would have to wait. I never demanded to be sat down immediately, I just came in to ask when we'd be seated since the previous hostess said check-in closer to 2. This is when I unfortunately met the incredibly rude Tina. Immediately I could already tell she didn't want to talk with me but I ignored that as I understood she might have been stressed due to how busy it gets working in a restaurant, especially one like Nobu. I asked her if I could get somewhat of an estimate when we'd be seated since it's almost 2. She IMMEDIATELY gave me attitude saying that I do realize I came in early and each person has two hours to eat. I told her I knew that but our the previous hostess said our table would be ready by this time. She about had it with me and told me if I wanted to get seated and if I wanted to get the outside table that I requested, then I needed to wait unless we'd just settle for indoor seating. Anytime I'd say anything else, she would shut me down until I finally said we'd wait. When they finally called us in, the seating was inside. So not only was I spoken to in a rude and demeaning matter, we didn't even get the table we were waiting so long for. That's when I became upset and requested to speak with the manager with my father which was an even worse experience. Sammy the manager was immediately dismissive and basically insinuated that I lied about the situation and exaggerated what happened. She then began to throw all sorts of microagressions towards my father and I for being angry with how we were treated. They even tried to micromanage how my dad spoke with his hands? Which I have NEVER experienced in my life and I am still highly disturbed by. Sammy called us aggressive and that we were attacking her which, as a black woman, is ALWAYS thrown our way when we defend ourselves so I was disappointed but not surprised Sammy went that route. Finally, after deciding we wanted to leave because we were tired of the treatment we were facing, our table was ready. Neither Sammy or Tina apologized for the whole ordeal even after we finished eating. Instead Sammy said that we were seated at the table inside all due to a misunderstanding as Tina had said I said I wanted to just get the table inside. See what happens when you're dismissive to your customers instead of listening to them? Because I NEVER said that. So, If you are black, especially of darker skin, and coming in a group of more than 2 black people, BEWARE because you WILL be treated like scum. And if you want to be insulted and treated like you're this "aggressive, scary black person" well than Sammy is the manager for you! Seeing that several people have already complained about the management and staff at Nobu shows me that they truly could care less about the customers unless you have a Wikipedia page. And I'm sure they don't even check these reviews as they do not care about the average person dining there. That is why this review is for future customers who intend on coming here expecting to be treated like a person. Well you're in for a rude awakening. Mind you the guests I brought were not regular people and Nobu unfortunately missed out on a GREAT business relationship as I know they will never want to come again. But as most black people know, it does not matter how much money you have because when it comes to us, we are automatically judged by our skin color. And even if we were random people, who didn't make a lot of money, and coming in to dine, it shouldn't matter!! EVERYONE deserves to be treated with respect. Customers shouldn't be treated like dirt for asking a question or for any reason at all. And I also have to note that today, we were the ONLY group made up of only black people there in the entire restaurant and received this service which I found interesting. The one star really for Kardell who was so kind, funny, and respectful to us and almost made us forget about the terrible service we received before eating. I wish him nothing but prosperity. The Vietnamese busboy was incredibly sweet too but I did not get his name, which I regret. I'm grateful for the training I received when I worked in the food service industry and I hope Nobu one day begins to prioritize customer service in their future staff/managerial trainings. Good luck to non-celebrities trying to eat here.

I was so disappointed with Nobu Malibu tonight that I wanted to share my experience. I was enjoying a work dinner, the food was amazing as well as the service when the whole experience was made extremely uncomfortable by an over zealous security guard who interrupted our dinner with our boss and colleagues. My boss, who I should mention is famous in some circles, asked that I take photos of him and our colleagues but when I started to I was interrupted by a Nobu security guard. I guess he thought that as an Asian woman I was a crazy fan or paparazzi???? I told him we work together, but he obviously didn't believe me and asked my boss if he was he "alright", and was I "assaulting" him. To which my boss assure the guard that I was a member of our team and that he wanted the pictures taken. Later other people came to talk to our boss and didn't get warned or interrupted by the guard. After this first incident the same security guard continued to stare at me making me even more uncomfortable, so much so that I could neither enjoy the food nor take a photo with coworkers without feeling subconscious. All this in an environment where many other guests were taking photos without being questioned. After the initial incident I tried to take a video of the ocean from the area of the restaurant that faces the ocean. I took 2 videos in total, one 19 seconds, an one 7 seconds, for a total of less than 30 seconds of filming total. While taking the last video the same guard approached me and said "you can't stand there, you will block view..." While I understand the sentiment and was being respectful of the other guests by keeping my time at a minimum there were a number of guests who were also taking videos and photos none of which were reprimanded or approached by the guard. The whole experience made me so sad, the good food and service all brought down by a bad atmosphere created by the guard ...and it was clear that I was being treated differently than the other guests. This treatment felt more like a result of being an Asian with a camera than an attempt to limit photographers as all around me there were people photographing without being harassed by security. Nobu, I understand the desire to limit photography but If you are that cautious please treat ALL your customers equally and not single out guests for no reason. I have been to a number of Nobu restaurants around the world and have never been treated in this manner, I am very disappointed. I wanted to share the videos I shot just to demonstrate that I was standing in front of the ocean view for a combined 26 seconds of time.

Nobu never disappoints! The food, views and service are unmatched. We recently celebrated a friend's birthday and couldn't be happier! Each dish was better than the next. Our waiter was awesome because he kept making recommendations based on what we liked which elevated our experience! Highly recommend it! Reserve a month in advance to request a table with an ocean view because that definitely makes the experience more special.
Very Good
The reputation of this restaurant is well established, it's very good and the produce is really fresh.I recommend it if you like fresh fish
First time at Nobu, and it did not disappoint.
We sat on the patio and wow, what a GORGEOUS view. Food and service were great, and it was so nice to take a walk on the beach after a lovely sunset dinner. We will be back!
Unprofessional and rude staff and management.
I'm standing in front of the front desk host and she's on her phone, no greetings for almost a minute until she acknowledges our presence. I had to wait for nearly an hour after my reservation time to get the table that I requested. After about 90 minutes I'm still waiting for the rest of my order to arrive and planning to order desert and champagne bottle for my wife's birthday but the server says there's not much time left on my reservation. I called the management and the same rude front desk woman shows up with her hands crossed, with the worst attitude and zero acknowledgment that I'm having a birthday celebration. I called the restaurant manager and he gave me the same unconvincing reasons. When you make the reservation they tell you the table is yours for 2 hours but somehow yesterday it was for 1 hour 45 minutes and I was not even within that time frame. I paid my check and left because I didn't want my wife's special day to get worse than what Nobu Malibu made. They also refused to give out the woman's name because they were afraid that I'd be writing this review. I've been to thousands of upscale restaurants in California and all over the county including the LA and Las Vegas Nobu locations but never once wrote a yelp review. Me writing this should tell how horrible of an experience I had and how they ruined a perfect birthday celebration.
Nobu is definitely as fancy as all the social media queens
Nobu is definitely as fancy as all the social media queens make it out to be. Nobu Malibu has a beautiful view of the ocean which adds to the fancy ambiance. The staff are friendly, attentive and accommodating. We never went a moment without a full glass of water and the waiter made sure we were happy with our food. The food is of course very pricy with small portions, nobu is meant to be enjoying family style so get ready to order as a group and share the experience together. The food was good, not excellent like I expected.
Overall, the experience was pretty good.
I know this place has a huge reputation, but most of it is hype. I think majority of the staff is really kind; everyone is helpful, some more than others. Their food is good, but definitely not worth the price. Their portion sizes are also small so I'm not sure where they get the concept of sharing "family style". I had the luxury of sitting on the patio, which was gorgeous, and we actually got to see dolphins. I think the entire bill came to $500-600 for four people (sorry I was hungry so I didnt get pics of everything). None of us drank alcohol, so that helped. Valet is 20$ **WARNING DO NOT WEAR HEELS YOU LOVE*** I made the mistake of wear stilettos and got stuck in the wood floor half a dozen times. This is an experience everyone wants, but it's really not worth coming more than once; maybe special occasions, but if you're a real foodie, you can find better hole in the wall spots in weho.
I want to start by saying thank you to the wonderful front
I want to start by saying thank you to the wonderful front desk staff who immediately got us a seat by the water as we were walk in and had no reservations. Also our server who was very thorough and attentive. The food was good tastes great but you are paying for the real estate as you can get the same if not better at other restaurants.I think it's the hype and more celeb watching/tik tok/insta crowd. Tried it not impressed as you can get the same view at moon shadows and spend less .
Good sushi
We had dinner there. We had a sushi plate wich was nice and tasty. In my opinion you pay alot for the brand as usual. What was really akward, that every new guests were greeted by the whole crew by shouting out loud. It was really disturbing the conversation and couldnt be more far away from the japanse culture.
The service here was very quick, just keep in mind you will
The service here was very quick, just keep in mind you will need to reserve before coming and it can be a decent sized waitlist. Overall the food was decent, I would recommend the king salmon. Prices are pretty high, however it's what you would expect at a fine dining restaurant. Parking it Valet only out front. The whole vibe of this Nobu is chill, I love the view of the ocean.

The Yellowtail Sashimi was amazing!! They make sure you stay hydrated. We didn't have an empty water glass once. The crashing ocean waves and view really add the perfect vibe.
I'm shocked at how poor the customer service is.
I called today at 5:15 and they told me that I need to call back between 10-5 and slammed the phone down. Being rude is simply unacceptable.
Best restaurant in Malibu!
Best restaurant in California! Food is insane the views are amazing. Staff is so nice! Drinks are simply awesome. It's a must place to eat!!
SUPER BEAUTIFUL VIEWS WITH FRESH SUSHI AND SEAFOOD
I went here and it was a beautiful dinner complete with my favorite sushi and fresh seafood. The views were absolutely amazing and it was a bit crowded, but that is always expected. I love coming here because it is particularly beautiful all year round, but especially when you want to celebrate a special occasion.
So worth the money
The food was delicious. Even though it was a bit pricey totally worth it. Service was great and staff were so kind. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Great Private Dining. Awkward Ending.
We hosted a private event. Everything was great and we enjoyed the service and the food. Great view and a really good price for a private event. We had a slight situation at the end which kind of “left a bad taste in our mouth” with one of our servers, which wasn’t great.
Great Food; Service Disaster
We’ve been going to Nobu since the very first location opened in Manhattan 30 years ago. We’ve been to Nobu Malibu at least 10 times. When I reserved 30 days in advance, I informed the reservationist that we would be celebrating a birthday, graduation, and Mother’s Day and would like an outdoor table. She said that she would try. When we arrived at 2:30pm, there were 4-5 outdoor tables empty for 5-6 people. The hostess told me “you are sitting inside” and was extremely rude. Upon asking her about the empty tables, she informed me that they were for VIPs and the owners’ friends. One of the women seated at one of the outdoor tables happened to be in the ladies room at the same time as me; when I asked her about the table, told me that she was a tourist and was just seated there without even asking. Things went from bad to worse. Tables that were seated after us, were served before us. It took hours for our meal. Our server was out to lunch. Net/net, the experience ruined our celebration and everyone left in a bad mood despite the great food. Yes, Nobu is a destination and does great business. However, with this level of service, it will go downhill. It will no longer be my restaurant of choice. Extremely disappointing!
Nobu offers a consistent experience across the globe but
Nobu offers a consistent experience across the globe but the Malibu location is special. It's worth the trip. The ocean front setting is incredible and the energy is high -- even on a random Tuesday night when we were there most recently. It's fun to people watch. I didn't recognize any celebs but the crowd was fabulous. My go-to favorites are the artichoke salad, modern sashimi (salmon), and rock shrimp tempura. Insider's Tip: Reservations are a pain, but call at 10am one month in advance as instructed on their website. Be patient. Bar seating is first come, first serve - maybe you'll get lucky!
Excellent service and food.
Outdoor would be much better. The wine paired with the food was recommended by my waiter, which s fabulous.

People might say it's overrated but you can't deny it's the best sushi in the Los Angeles area. It's going to be impossible to order something that is not good here. All the food is top notch and presentation lives up to their high standards and great reputation. The reason I give this place only 4 stars are for reasons other than the food. I have absolutely no complaints about the food and the price, but there are other reasons I choose to not come here regularly. First, you have to make a reservation way an advance to get a table which is annoying because sometimes you crave a certain meal the day of. It's unlikely to get a table the day of but try it. Second, it's annoying to think you are going to go out and have a relaxing, romantic dinner but you show up and it is SO LOUD! Luckily, when we went last month we got to sit near the outdoor area and we could hear the ocean a little bit but WOW was it loud, and we went on a Tuesday. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the decor is lovely with the amazing scenery but it's kind of a waste when you sit down at a small cramped table (unless you're a celebrity which you might get more space) and have to hear loud talking and silverware clanking. I get it, it's a top of the line restaurant which will make it busy and noisy but this is the reason why I choose other sushi places to go on a regular instead of Nobu. Again, I highly doubt you can find better sushi than this place it's just the other stuff that annoys me.

The food was good, the ambiance was nice, it's very beautiful. Our service was not good at all. We were significantly neglected, had to ask many times for a drink menu, and were never checked on. Half of our food did not come out, and we had to remind the server that we did not receive half of what we ordered. Additionally, we never saw the same server more than twice, which is part of the issue. The staff were not communicative amongst themselves.
Experience the best
Expensive but half the cost is experiential, and 100% worth it. Craft cocktails with crashing waves and freshest seafood… no wonder it sells out. Miso Cod a MUST! Reservations are definitely not impossible. You just need to call 30 days out exactly at 10 AM West Coast time, and Stay patient.

Similar to another person's review that it is not worth the hype that this place gets. But definitely a fun experience none the less. We had the table side tasting menu where our server would pick out recommendations and things that were popular. He catered to any preferences and allergies for the table and made it according to a rough budget we were looking to spend. Started with three different orders of sashimi, Tuna and wagyu tacos, miso cod, king crab tempura, shrimp tempura with creamy sauce, sea bass with miso, ribeye with truffle sauce. All the sashimi tasted good. Our sea bass was a bit over cooked on one side of the fish. But still tasted good. The king crab wouldn't personally get again. The sauce tasted like sweet and sour mixed with vinegar. The shrimp dish would also not recc compared to everything else (personally feel like walnut shrimp tastes better). I think everything was overall good. No new flavors, all relatively familiar if you've had Filipino, Japanese, Chinese food before. But I think the overall experience and ambiance was still exciting. Getting things served individually and having them go over each of the courses.

This is my second time here! I must say that, its an exceptional dining experience. Food was fresh and delicious, as are the cocktails. Super high quality, but with prices to match. Staff were very attentive! and the view is spectacular, One of my all time favorite places!
You're paying for the atmosphere, not the food.
Malibu is beautiful, the spot on the beach is beautiful, the ambience of the restaurant is also very upscale and beautiful. The food was pretty bad, honestly. The spicy garlic edamame, which you usually can never go wrong with, were way too spicy and seemed like they were just bathed in Sriracha. The charred Brussels sprouts were beyond charred - they were burnt, soggy, and way overcooked. All of the sushi rolls had way too much rice, making them enormous in diameter and not able to be eaten in a single bite. The lobster tacos were laughable - literally, we laughed when they were placed on the table. They are very tiny - eaten in a single bite - and quite frankly were pretty unpleasant looking as they very closely resembled part of the female anatomy. Overall, I'd go again if somebody else was paying just to enjoy a leisurely lunch on the patio in the sunshine. If I were to be sitting inside, I'd say you're better off at PF Chang.
Looking for the perfect place to celebrate a special
Looking for the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion, Nobu should be your go to spot! The ambiance is beautiful and the vibe inside exudes tasteful fun for ages 21+, however kids & dogs are allowed. My waiter was amazing and fun was delicious. My favorite 2 dishes was the jalapeño yellowtail & the toro tuna. Their raw fish is so fresh that it melts in your mouth. However I wasn't a fan of the tempura shrimp, it lacked flavor & under the tempura the shrimp were small. None the less, it was a great dining experience.
My experience here was pretty epic.
We came here as a group of 8 for my bachelor party. The waiter mentioned that this Nobu was Japanese/Peruvian. We ordered the omakase but some add ins for large groups. I've only eaten at the Nobu in Hong Kong which was also very memorable. This location has an epic location with views of the Pacific, but the only issue was the rain we experienced that night. Initially, I wanted to arrive early 1830 in order to capture sunset views but the weather did not cooperate. The food came out at a good pace, never having to wait long for the next dish to come out. When I left to use the bathroom, someone came over to fold my napkin. My glass of water was always filled. Service was definitely top notch. The food was also excellent. Some of the extra bougie courses were the A5 Wagyu and the uni. There wasn't really a bad course, surprisingly. I would definitely come back again, when the sun's out.
Everything was amazing i was able to get last minute ,
Everything was amazing i was able to get last minute , front desk were very friendly, server was very friendly and knowledgeable.. Food was very good , Albacore sashimi, lemon meyer sashimi, crispy tuna rice was soo fresh!! Drinks were pretty great as well! but I will say this the place was beyond overpriced for the average civilian! But its definitely a experience , enjoying the waves , the sounds of the waves while devouring your food is priceless:)
Expectations
"Expectation is the root of all heartache" is a quote I've learned the hard way when it comes to trying restaurants like Nobu Malibu.... and in other areas of life but I'm not tryna trauma dump on here. The Carbones and the Peter Lugers of the world let me down far more often than not, as I'm expecting to be BLOWN away by them. I think it's a mix of my expectations being near impossible to meet, and these businesses know that people will come just off of the hype alone, so it's hard to stay locked in. For context, my girlfriend was coming to LA for the first time and her one and only request was to go to Nobu Malibu, even quoting the Drake line "Eatin crab out in Malibu at Nobuuuuuu" smh. After calling and trying to make a res 24 days in advance, we were put on the waitlist. By the time our trip came around, I was hinting to pookie that God may just not want us to go…. but she said we could go right when it opens and could probably get a seat at the bar. I understood the low probability of this, but thought a spiritual drive up to Malibu would be worth it anyways. Plus, you try telling pookie no. Pookie gets what pookie wants. After the beautiful 58 minute drive from Manhattan Beach filled with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and BlueBucksClan spilling out my Toyota Rav4 speakers, we arrived at the promised land. The valet parks my 2017 Rav4 between a matte G-Wagon and a big body Range, and we walk through the beautiful little courtyard lounge area with the Pacific Ocean maybe 20 feet from us to get to the entrance. We get in at 11:59am (it opens at noon), and it is already PACKED. I was like baby no way we gettin a seat ahahaha...I was ready to just grab an early drink and enjoy the elite ambiance and head up to Point Dume for a meal. We got to the host stand and I put on my best puppy dog eyes, and the host says a table may open up, but we can sit at the bar as there is a full menu. She points over my right shoulder to the bar, and it is completely empty lol. Pookie was right. Before we could even order a drink, the hostess comes up to us and says a table opened up as someone canceled a res. WE UP! I don't even really need to say this, but this ambiance is everything it is cracked up to be. Whatever you're thinking in your head, it's even better. Waves crashing, sun shining. An absolute spiritual experience. We were buzzin that we got in, so we ordered a FEAST: Edamame & Shishito Peppers to start (do both I promise), Spicy Yellowtail Jalapeño, Crispy Rice w Spicy Tuna, Wagyu Tacos, Rock Shrimp Tempura, Black Miso Cod, Spicy Tuna Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, Baked Crab Roll. The quality of food at Nobu is just on a whole different level. It really is artistry what they are doing in here. Every bite we would look at each other like DAMN THIS IS HITTIN. Our favorites were the Yellowtail Jalapeño, Crispy Rice, and Black Cod. Those 3 dishes are like the Heatles. Yellowtail Jalapeño is LeBron though. I need to shout out my man Brett, our server. He was delivering the type of service you would expect here. Engaging, funny, and knows the menu like the back of his hand. Just one of those dudes who is happy to be alive and those kinds of people are infectious. Yeah, it's expensive. A special occasion only type beat. Being well north of $400 after a couple drinks each, my pockets were on featherweight. However, it was an experience we will talk about for years to come...and that's exactly what I was paying for. The experience. It is something we will always have together. To me, life is all about stacking these types of experiences with the people that you love and the people that love you. You can't take it with you. So yeah, it was easily worth it. In closing, I can't help but equate Nobu Malibu to LeBron James. The weight of the world on his shoulders, dubbed "The next Michael Jordan" and "The Chosen One" at age 16 comes with a level of expectation that could only set him up to fail. Yet, he still blew them out of the water. LeNobu. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

Connect with users posting reservations for Nobu Malibu
AppointmentTrader is a community-driven platform where users can exchange their reservations or leverage their personal relationships with Nobu Malibu. Buyers can make informed decisions using automated seller ratings, which reflect past transactions and reliability.
Each posting on AppointmentTrader shows you which user submitted it and along with that provides a trackrecord of that user which indicates how much experience
the user has and how many percent of their transactions resulted in them issuing a refund.
If there is no user posting that fits your schedule, you can bid on your preferred time.
Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Nobu Malibu at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Nobu Malibu page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $5.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $5.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* ImmortalStep65, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* ImmortalStep65 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to ImmortalStep65 for any questions Peter may have as ImmortalStep65 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* ImmortalStep65 now uses their connections at Nobu Malibu to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If ImmortalStep65 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, ImmortalStep65 receives the $5 reward which is credited to ImmortalStep65's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Nobu Malibu!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
