Wow! This place is insane! From the decor to the staff, from the drinks to the food, everything is spot on. It is absolutely a 5-star spot. I couldn't believe the egg yolk/truffle ravioli. Best meal I've ever eaten! Our server, Angel, was fun and kind, and super attentive. The price is way more than reasonable. Great for dates and hangouts with friends.

All the staff are professional and helpful. The idea of the place is great. The food is meh. When I enter an Italian restaurant I expect to smell garlic. While they do use garlic it's not even noticeable.

The service has always been good as the food comes at a decent time. The food is great. I usually get the pasta dishes which are good but they have other options as well. Their oysters are very good too.

A group of 21 coworkers and I had a great experience at Mad Nice this week. The food was very good and the service, especially from Shade, Alaina, Bri and Adia was extraordinary. Located right downtown Mad Nice could be a good place to visit before events at Comerica Park, Ford Field and other downtown venues. Thank you Team Mad Nice!

When you go for brunch don't ask for eggs, they won't make them. You can get a side of bacon, toast, and potatoes, but they won't make you eggs. Pretentiousness to the max. Have never been to restaurant less accomdating in my life. You're in hospitality, do better! They should change the name to Mad Pretentious. Will never go back.
Great vibe.
Large bar in center of restaurant in a horseshoe shape. Smaller tables envelope the bar. The perimeter is composed of large booths that can easily fit 6-8. The entire back wall is the kitchen so you can see everyone work in their crisp white uniform. Plenty of staff so service was impeccable. Polite and professional. Bucatini Cacio e Pepe was marvelous
What a great restaurant.
Everything here was on point. Our servers were pleasant, knowledgeable, and helped us make sure that our night was special. The style and consistency of the operation was stunning. Of course, the food was great as well. We tried many wines, an appetizer, pastas, pizzas, and even a dessert. There were no misses. Next time I find myself in Detroit I will be back. This restaurant was mad nice.
This contemporary restaurant just keeps getting better.
This time the gem salad was on point, it is fresh and delish. We loved the duck pasta. Cocktails always on point. Easy and convenient valet, even let us park our car there all night while we went to the Willis bar for a show.
The appetizers were a little disappointing.
I didn't love the patatas because they lacked flavor but were a good texture. The margarita pizza was stupendous. Crust was delicious and the ingredients were great. The pastas we got were just alright. The bucatini cacio e Pepe was the best. Classic flavor w amazing texture. The duck pasta was a little strangely sweet and the spring mafaldine was too salty. The zeppoli were good but not amazing.
Cool VIBE GREAT FOOD
We went to Mad Nice for my birthday and my daughter had picked this spot. She made the mistake and booked for 2 people instead of 4 and the restaurant was packed. The hostesses were great and led us to the lounge to have some drinks to see if they could work something out to accommodate us. Within 45 minutes Shade, Becca and Amado came back and had found a table. The hostesses were fantastic upon greeting and they were very professional. The esthetic is beautiful and very friendly staff. We started with the Little Gem salad which is enough to split among 4 people. I loved the buttermilk dressing on this salad. I had the Shroom pizza and added sausage and it was fantastic. We also had the Egg Yolk Ravioli, Rigatoni Ragout all I would order again. Emily was our server and she was great. Finished off with the cannoli(lemon Cheesecake) it was amazing and the Zeppoli was delicious. We will definitely be back!
$2 a glass for tap water. $20 bread and butter. $15 mandatory valet parking
Tap water is $2 a pour. Bread and butter is $20. The Little Gem Salad is mixed greens drowned in Ranch dressing with halved sugared almonds $18. The Duck Confit was dry and cold $44. The Pork Shoulder Ragout $28 was an insult to Italians and cold. The Braised Short Ribs were actually a large beef rib (a different area of the cow entirely) served with spicy broccoli and fried potatoes...all cold. Our charming server was walking slow due to a double shift. He encouraged sharing, but the only thing large enough to share was the gelato. The Detroit chocolate cake with Luxardo cherries was tiny and the two cherries were dry with no sauce. Our waiter encouraged sharing, so now we are all sick with head colds. Valet parking was mandatory and $15 plus tip. The food is expensive and arrived cold. The house white was triple the cost elsewhere. TIP: Dine across the street at Selden Standard.
Overrated
Beautiful dinning room. Staff was great. Good food but was way too expensive for what you get. While they bring it out very quickly, it is hardly a "dinning experience" Easy to be out of there in an hour or less. Food was excellent but in the end, it is just pizza and pasta. I also found their bill paying a nuisance. You have to scan the bill and pay on the Toast app. Not so easy for an old guy like me.
Subpar experience
I was eager to introduce my cousin visiting from Toronto to the charm and deliciousness of Mad Nice. Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by subpar service. While the restaurant's ambiance is undeniably lovely, our server, Keith, seemed indifferent and unhelpful. His dismissive attitude towards our requests for recommendations was disappointing. It was clear that he was more interested in catering to another larger group. It's a shame, as I've heard great things about the food. However, the service is undeniably a significant part of the dining experience. I'm hesitant to return given this encounter. Hopefully, this feedback will encourage Mad Nice to prioritize guest satisfaction.

Galentines day here! Fun vibes. Restaurant decor is gorgeous. The food is pretty good. Maybe 7/10. What kind of gave us a negative ick is the fact that they included a 22% gratuity with the bill. Which is pretty ridiculous. I agree with including gratuity of 20% for larger parties (we were 8). But 22% seemed presumptuous. The service wasn’t that good. Actually subpar to be honest.

LOVED this place. First the ambiance was stellar. The retro vibe was carried out in a beautiful way. Fun and also not over the top. Service was wonderful and friendly. And then the food is amazing. We did lunch and I can't wait to do dinner. Real pizza the pasta was scrumptious. The sourdough bread was amazing. I didn't get to sample the drinks or wine menu but it was robust.

I was treated to dinner at Mad Nice and thought it was fantastic. It is expensive, so let’s get that out. A dinner of a whole branzino was $68. Yes, it was good. But was it out of this world good? Probably not $68 good. We also had a couple pizzas (Margherita and Shrooms). Of the two the Shrooms is definitely better. We also had a plate of cacio e Pepe which I hear was okay. Cocktails were good, including the 0% versions. The real feast is the decor of the place and the vibe. We were there late at night and it has a cool retro look…kind of like a 60s Barbie Haven. It’s really fun and the music is booming too. The staff are all very professional and kind. Overall, it’s a good meal if you are not concerned about cost. If you are concerned about cost there are probably better meals to be had in Detroit, but not with the same hipster vibe. I enjoyed it. If you have a rich uncle coming to town, take him here. ;)
OVERALL: A BIG OK
As someone else noted it was strange that the only signage was on the exterior door handles. But walking in is impressive - a large bright, dramatic contemporary space. And exactly as another noted, the pretensions were over the top when we were being shown to our table by a preening, dramatic "concierge" - whose arms sweep around to point out the "California contemporary" design of the entire room with a huge center bar. We actually had a subtle laugh over that performance. The food is ok and over priced. They do not make substitutions or customize pizzas - and none were all that exciting. We chose the margarita pizza which was ordinary. A nearby table did have a mushroom pizza that looked very good. The gem salad was flavorful but had very limited salad ingredients in it. The "tomatoes" side dish was unremarkable. The "Detroit Aristocratic Club" cocktail with green chartreuse was awesome - I had 2. The food wasn't really worth the expense but the experience was one we're glad we had - just don't need to rush back.

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Mad Nice Detroit at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Mad Nice Detroit page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* MaternalRecord73, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* MaternalRecord73 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to MaternalRecord73 for any questions Peter may have as MaternalRecord73 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* MaternalRecord73 now uses their connections at Mad Nice Detroit to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If MaternalRecord73 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, MaternalRecord73 receives the $200 reward which is credited to MaternalRecord73's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Mad Nice Detroit!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
