This was one of the highlight meals of my trip! The pecorino and pear ravioli was divine! 🙏🤍…especially with a glass of white 😁 Please ignore all the unnecessary hate and low ratings about this restaurant, if you aren’t willing to pay €20 for a great plate of pasta, why are you even in Italy?!?! The older Soldano was super friendly and pays close attention to every customer entering his restaurant (especially on weekends). Be sure to reserve in advance, as this is a very popular restaurant. Highly recommended and worth it.

Definitely not worth the hype.
I don't really write reviews but felt this restaurant needed an honest one. Having seen this numerous times on platforms as a must do in Florence it was one I told my husband was non negotiable. We arrived for the 9.15pm sitting to be held with a large crowd in the small bar area with a queue forming out the door rather chaotic! Not what is expected from a fine dining restaurant. After 20 mins we were moved to the restaurant where the waiter was more intent on redressing tables than taking our order. Our meal was disappointing. The fillet steak with a balsamic sauce was covered and I mean covered with what can be only described as balsamic glaze a rather vinegary one at that. I had 5 tiny rosemary potatoes. The mood went down hill very quickly after that. No investigation from the waiter just took it away after my comments. Also interesting to note that they charge an extra 5 euros per glass of wine in the restaurant as the bar. Shame as the restaurant is quite pretty but found much nicer around Florence. 5 stars 500 times over is what La Giostra deserves!!! Dining at La Giostra was nothing short of unforgettable. Dinner reservations were hard to find and we grabbed ourselves one for lunch. Absolutely loved the experience. From the moment we stepped inside, we were transported into a world of warm hospitality, rich Tuscan ambiance, and food that speaks to the soul. We settled in and were served a platter ( on the house) that had richness, flavors and amazing taste written across the board. The house bread is amazing as well and has a very unique taste associated with it. Post that, we ordered ourselves the Pear Ravioli and Steamed Octopus carpaccio with boiled ( finely sliced potato) which were so delicious ( big quantity served as well).We took our time to enjoy each of these a morsel at a time and they were simply sumptuous. For our main course we ordered Grilled steak with garlic, olive oil and rosemary ( which I didn't taste though got amazing reviews for it) and Baked Branzino with zucchini, tomatoes, olives and capers. The fish was cooked to perfection and the veggies added the much needed fiber alongside and as well were cooked to just the right degree. Loved the bites immensely and took our sweet time while we devoured through the meal :) After the check formalities were done and we were headed out, we ran into the man the legend, Soldano who happens to be the owner and runs a perfect culinary orchestra at La Giostra. Had a fun little conversation with him and definitely left with a lot of good feeling, vibes and felt that truly amazing customer care that they have built in the very fabric of La Giostra. It wouldn't be remiss to say that his warmth and charisma are reflected in every detail of the experience. La Giostra isn't just a restaurant -- it's a story, a tradition, a feeling. If you're in Florence, this is an absolute must. Thank you, Sandro and team , for making our lunch so memorable. This definitely has been a bright shining highlight of our trip!! Absolutely recommended!!
Not sure this spot is worth the hype.
A few weeks in advance, we made a 9:45 reservation. They were incredibly busy when we got there and we had to wait a bit to get our table, which wasn't a big deal. But when we got seated, we were offered water and the menus. Awhile later, a waiter came and said "are you ready?", took our order and that was it. We had heard great things about the service, so we were pretty off put by that. The complimentary appetizer was great and honestly it was the best part of the meal. We also order the buffalo mozzarella appetizer, a bottle of wine, caccio e pepe and the tagliatelle. It was all good. Fine. Nothing amazing. The ambiance is great, but there is better food and better service at plenty of other places that aren't as expensive or hyped up.
Woukd never return
We were so excited to return to this restaurant after 10 years from our last visit. We were disappointed and would never return again! Our waiter barely said hello and we had awful service. The bread was stale. The waiter spilled our expensive bottle of wine, did not apologize And never cleaned it up. This was a huge disappointment !!!
Excellent Italian Food in an Authentic Florence Restaurant
On our final night in Florence we had dinner reservations for 9:15 at La Giostra. Of course we started with a glass of prosecco at the hotel and then a second at a wine window so we were more than ready for dinner when we arrived. Upon sitting down we were offered gratis a plate of goodies: Spinach puffs, Artichokes, Bruschetta and more, all delicious, we did though pass on the Chicken Livers! For dinner we shared four dishes and loved them all: Zucchini and Eggplant with Pecorino, all sliced so thin and they were a joy to eat; Ravioli filled with Ricotta and Spinach; Steamed Asparagus; and our very favorite, Pasta Sorrentina. Don’t be fooled by the celebrity pictures which adorn the restaurant walls, this is a true Italian classic and a spot in Florence well worth making an advance reservation at.
Overhyped
The food was decent, but the drink prices were extremely high. Very unprofessional behavior from one of the waiters who was openly flirting with a single female customer at the table next to us and brought her multiple free shots. It felt awkward and inappropriate. Overall, not the kind of atmosphere we were expecting.
AMAZING!
My husband saw this restaurant on Yes Chef video and boy it did not disappoint. I HIGHLY recommend making a reservation because I doubt you will get in without one. The food and service were amazing! We wanted to go back but no reservations were available during a time we wanted to eat. I can’t say enough about this restaurant. If we return to Florence we will definitely eat here again.
Gorgeous evening at La Giostra
We had the loveliest night at La Giostra for our anniversary during my first trip to Florence. We were greeted really nicely and the service remained impeccable throughout - friendly, professional, warm. The restaurant is truly beautiful, an absolute pleasure to visit. I love the carousel story and the fairy lights. All the food was amazing but I particularly enjoyed the seafood linguine and the tiramisu. Highly recommend!
La Giostra is my favorite restaurant in Florence.
Make a reservation. Show up early and grab a drink before your dining experience. Order the pear ravioli and a steak. You won't be disappointed. This is a very special place inside and out. Buckle up, you'll kill 2- 3 hours here but just enjoy the ride.

Overall the food was good- but for the price point I was hoping it would be amazing! The restaurant was very cute and had a great atmosphere - and the service was good. Our first waiter was great and extremely attentive. Our tomahawk steak was cooked the way we asked, but I felt that the steak lacked a depth of flavor for the price point. Maybe our fault for not getting the Florentine steak? I felt the same way about the pear ravioli. Was good- but not life changing. Best thing we got were the free crostini appetizers (lol) and the tiramisu!

Not sure this one was worth the price.
The restaurant itself was beautiful and comfortable, service was good. Food was ok but for the price we had higher expectations. Our favorite part of the meal was the complimentary apps they brought out. $20 for a spritz felt excessive. If money is no object to you, give it a try, otherwise you'd probably be able to find something just as tasty for half the price somewhere else.

I was really excited about this restaurant but I left very disappointed. The waiters didn't really know where they were going and they brought stuff to the wrong tables . We ordered the most popular thing on the menu, the pear ravioli and the basil pine nut and tomato pasta. The ravioli was drenched in butter (not the good way) and it had little to no flavor. The tomato pasta had cheese in it that made it taste like feet . We were disappointed to say the least. And also there was a cover charge?!?!?! What even is that? Guess we got charged just to come in. Do yourself a favor and instead, go to Trattoria Zà Zà. I had the best pasta of my life there. The pasta was their boccalona style spaghetti (tomato garlic chili pepper and parsley sauce). This pasta changed my life and it is only $10 unlike the $22 tasteless pasta I had here. Do yourself a favor and go there. Oh, and the Steak Florentine was incredible as well. Enjoy!

We had a wonderful time at La Giostra! From the moment we entered we felt very welcomed. The wine was poured and decanted very well! The meal itself was delicious! We had the BEST tiramisu EVER! The chef was very personable and spent time speaking with us. I would HIGHLY recommended La Giostra to anyone visiting Florence! We can’t wait to return on our next trip!
Beautiful place and Beautiful food
Some of the best food I had whilst on my trip. Incredible tiramisu! The menu was varied and the portions were huge! A little pricy but so worth it for the volume and quality of the food. The staff were friendly and helpful and the atmosphere of the place was elegant but lively. They also gave us some freebies.
Everything is tasty
Interesting how what and where you eat can be a highlight of a visit, as this was certainly one. They started out bringing a tasty treat with breads loaded with toppings & dipping souces. We had an amazing mozzarella cheese like appetizer, the sea bass and a fillet cooked to medium perfection. Outstanding service, amazing flavors. What a memorable evening in Florence! No reservations? Get there a few minutes before seven & you’ll likely be in good shape for the no reservation line.

We got the Florentine steak and it just melted in our mouths and was enough food for 3 adults. It comes with 2 small sides and they were seasoned amazingly and were filling enough. The environment of the restaurant was very friendly and aesthetic.

I never leave food reviews but i have to! First we had reservations for July 10th but unfortunately the power was out when we arrived. Natalie was so amazing. She suggested we go have a drink at a bar around the corner . Once the power was resorted, she came and got us. We sat down and ordered a nice $ bottle of wine and our food. Shortly after, the power again went out. The staff could not have been more apologetic- even though it wasn’t their fault. They did all the could but ultimately one by one, it emptied out. They rebooked us for the rolling night and holy smokes- it was the best meal we have ever had. The pear ravioli was a mouth gasm! Every single morsel of food was delicious. Make a reservation and go! This is a must go to place in Florence

Did not live up to hype
My wife and I had a reservation for 9:30 on a Friday night. We got there early and the hostess, Matilda, was very friendly and gave us a great recommendation for apertivos before dinner. We were seated promptly when we returned, and received a complementary appetizer dish with some great bruschetta, chicken liver, and vegetables. The waiter gave a solid wine recommendation, but it arrived a bit warm, noticeably above cellar temp. We ordered beef carpaccio first, which took a while to come out, and quite honestly it was flavorless. The serving size was more than enough though. For our mains, my wife ordered the pear ravioli, and I ordered the Tuscan risotto with prawns. My wife gave the ravioli a 9/10 for flavor, but there were only four pieces. For €26, it was absolutely not worth it. The risotto, however, was absolutely horrible. The best I can describe it was barely-seasoned watery Uncle Ben’s minute rice topped with chopped up shrimp. I would give it a 3/10 and I feel like that’s generous. It was about this time when we realized we heard only English being spoken at the tables around us. No locals should be a red flag right? We decided to give dessert one last chance for this place to redeem itself, so we got tiramisu at a waitress’s recommendation, and we both agreed it was the best we’ve ever had. 12/10. In conclusion, we both agreed it wasn’t even as good as our favorite Italian place back home in Alabama. That’s not to knock our spot (Mazzara’s Vinoteca), but only to express genuine surprise at how underwhelmed we were. Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes (except for the tiramisu), but our visit was a letdown for sure. It’s possible La Giostra used to be incredible and quality has declined only recently, but it seems like this place has been overhyped by English-speaking influencers. We won’t be recommending it to anyone in the future.
Eclectic and popular!
The restaurant has an eclectic atmosphere and there is always people waiting outside… hoping to get a table! We confused our reservations but the hostess still got us in. She was marvelous. The food was great especially the goat cheese ravioli and ossobuco. There was a wine spill at the table next to us and they cleaned it efficiently…. please leave the kids home for this one.

Dinner was exceptional. The florentine steak and balsamic filet were awesome. The pastas were the best part. Service was flawless and warm. Delightful. It was a privilege to eat here. charming. Would not miss.
Food amazing, atmosphere not so much
Don’t get me wrong, the look of the place inside is so romantic with the twinkling lights and ambiance but that’s where it ends. It was SO loud in the restaurant I could barely hear the waiter and my partner. The tables were squished so close together and they were constantly banging and moving chairs so it took away from the charm of the restaurant. The food was actually very good but I was just way overstimulated by everything else. It was good to experience once but probably won’t be back.

Beyond Expectations
This was a dinner but also an experience in having the chef, Alberto, literally at your table making sure everything was perfect. And it was. Such a memorable experience for all of us and I will definitely return when I am in Florence.

Very beautiful inside, but tables were a bit close together, not unlike many of the spots we stopped in for dinner in the area. The staff was friendly and attentive, but it was mainly English speakers in the restaurant so I can see why some call it a tourist trap. Expensive, for sure, but a really nice dining experience, steak was delicious and every other thing we had was tasty. Loved the pear pasta, and would definitely recommend it as one of your dinners if you have the chance!

I highly suggest you don't do the same thing. Florence was over run by tourists, but frankly that's not our fault. This restaurant seems to be profiting from tourists while at the same time rude to Americans. I have to say the food was good, but the service and the attitude of the staff at this restaurant was absolutely awful!!! I'm disappointed with our 5 star hotel "the place" in Firenze for not dissuading us from dining here. We were a party of 4 and we ordered 3 bottles of very good wine and ordered what was a very good dinner. However during our dinner someone complained to the staff that we were loud and in turn the staff relayed this message in a rude way. Saying something about having to take our knives away scared what we would do with them. This was incredibly out of line, rude and frankly quite strange! Prior to this they rushed us into ordering and then proceeded to try to rush us to pay the check. However, they were exceedingly slow to bring some lemon cello when we asked for it and when we did they brought 4 shots of it. Needless to say I do not recommend this restaurant at all!!!! Go to buca Lapi instead we had an amazing politely and well served dinner there last night!!

My best friend and I were here to celebrate our 10 year friendship anniversary. We booked out our reservation over a month in advance. To say we were disappointed was an understatement. Their service was extremely underwhelming. We were rushed through our appetizer and our plates were taken before we were done. The pear ravioli was delicious and we did really enjoy it. However the penne was very bland and the pasta was too hard. By the time our steak came it was cold and not cooked correctly, extremely rare and bloody when we asked for medium. No one asked if we were happy with our meal as we left the steak completely untouched. While the atmosphere was beautiful, the couple next to us making out and groping one another made us extremely uncomfortable and again no one spoke up about the issue. We were so excited for this meal yet are really disheartened by the evening.

A hidden gem on a side villa. The T-bone steak was the best I ever had. The ravioli was as fresh as it comes. The service was perfect and the room was warm and inviting. I loved this place.

Mixed experience
Generous portions of food (including an enormous Wiener schnitzel I ordered), however the place was very hot and claustrophobic. Other osterias and trattorias have far better value for money compared to this place.
Best dinner we had !
I thought this restaurant was going to be more about the scene and the hype. More of a fun dinner out with a good vibe rather than amazing food. I was wrong. Best meal we had in Florence. Actually, best meal we had after 5 days in Rome as well. And we ate amazing food all week. The fried artichokes, stracciatella, Florence steak, boar bolognese, and cheesecake were amazing. Service, wine and cocktails were great too

Everything was delicious. It is a local place. I recommend make reservations since it is very famous for having the Authentic Tuscan flavors and refined hospitality. Under the twinkling amber lights, super romantic place I recommend it.

We live in Florence part of the year and have been meaning to eat at La Giostra for some time. All the great reviews and Soldano's pictures with his happy patrons made it a must do. Today, my wife and I finally made it for Valentine's Day, albeit at lunch, because dinner had been fully booked for weeks already. To start, we shared their Seafood, fennel and orange salad, which was delicious. For Primo piatto she ate the Papardelle al Cinghiale, deliciously Tuscan and I had Tagliatelle with Artichokes, a steady simphony of honest Italian cuisine. A beautiful bottle of Sangiovese wine provided the context of a wonderful experience, which ended in us sharing their awesome Tarte Tatin. Service was impecable. Their prices are commesurate with the experience.

I removed a star due to seating. Our table was very close to another table basically touching another table. At one point, I had to stand up to let other guests to get to their table. They do bring around a complimentary appetizer. The homemade ravioli was absolutely delicious. The stealer of the show was the Fiorentina T-bone steak. Hands down would return to have the steak again!! We also ordered fried artichokes and friend zucchini but should skipped these. Our eyes were way bigger than our stomachs.

We saved the best restaurant for our last day of vacation 1/4/24. The dinner was great and we really wanted dessert also, but after a very long wait we finally just got up and walked towards the door to ask for our check.
The food.
.. wow! GET RESERVATIONS! We did not have a reservation and Matilda said we could wait and she would do the best she could to get us seated (which rarely happens). 45 minutes later they squeezed us into a great spot... and the food was over the top! It started with a visit from Sahin who shared the menu choices and served us some Preseco and bruschetta appetizers. We finally got our meal of spinach ravioli and steak. It was credible! We finished the night with Isabella offering us some choices for dessert and had probably the best tiramisu we have ever had! This is a must visit location! At the end of the evening we shared a few laughs with the owner and ended the night feeling better than when we walked in the door... Thank you again! Matilda, sahin Isabella
Everything about La Giostra was a 10/10.
My boyfriend and I went here when I was studying abroad in Florence and it was the best meal we've ever had and amazing service. The waiter was really great and accommodating and strongly suggested the pear ravioli, which I'd had other places in Florence, but nothing was quite like this one. Inside the place was also very nice and the steak we had was genuinely unforgettable. Highly recommend!

Service was nonexistent. Server never checked back. Any support staff never checked, we always had to flag them down. My first cocktail was never cleared, we had no olive oil on the table, when flatware was changed it was carelessly placed, unfortunately i would categorize it as a tourist trap.... The exact opposite of what was expected. The decor is intimate, the space is intimate, yet there was no service. A fine dining cafeteria at best, and it breaks my heart to write these words.

1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* ImmortalStep65, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* ImmortalStep65 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to ImmortalStep65 for any questions Peter may have as ImmortalStep65 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* ImmortalStep65 now uses their connections at La Giostra Firenze to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If ImmortalStep65 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, ImmortalStep65 receives the $200 reward which is credited to ImmortalStep65's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at La Giostra Firenze!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
