Cru Nantucket Reviews
Fun evening
3rd visit to Nantucket and 3rd visit to Cru! Went on resy at 10am on June 1 (earliest opportunity) to secure a July reservation as many people say it is very hard to get in without. We both had the lobster roll which was delicious. Service was good even with the place very crowded. It is definitely the place to see and be seen.
Still has its magic!
We ate at Cru three times during our annual visit to the island. It still retains much of its magic both as the place "to be" with food that often rises to similar heights. Everyone in (or outside) the restaurant seems to be very pleased with themselves for having secured a table. Service is warm and incredibly efficient despite the mob scene. Oysters are remarkably well shucked and get to the table quickly. We ordered a second platter and then a third. The fried clams are well prepared and available as a main course at lunch and an appetizer at dinner. A crab cocktail, U8 shrimp cocktail (sold by the piece) and the beef carpaccio are good staples of the menu. I know the lobster roll is famous, but we usually skip it, preferring those served at local clam shacks. Sea bass and the halibut mains are always excellent and the NY strip is a nice piece of beef for those who do not want to go with seafood for the whole meal. For our family though, it is largely a feast of oysters with glasses of champagne or a crisp rose. The place invites a joyous celebration and if you indulge, bring a big wallet.

The location is great and our server Corwym was awesome! So kind and fun! The foccicia is great and liked the dinner
I attended CRU restaurant during the bar hours (8pm- 12pm).
I was a male at the restaurant looking to buy drinks for some friends (Female & male) and the bartender denied me from buying a drink because he thought I looked mean. (I am a white male). They were very disrespectful and prevented me from ordering a drink after too. I was respectful in every way. Disappointing that a good bar/restaurant is biased towards people they don't know. Great bar and location other than their bartenders. Super disrespectful to younger adults age 21-25. Actually a disgrace they disregard people they don't know/visitors . Disappointing and disrespectful. I don't recommend.

My main issue is the COMPLETE lack of respect or consideration for visitors time. If I could give a negative number for this alone - I would. NO amount of ambiance or food quality excuses it for me. When we asked regarding the wait, the greeter said "wait is only 20 minutes". 45 minutes later, I walked up to ask if I missed their text and was told "no. It will be 5 minutes, so sorry. They are paying". 20 minutes after that, we left, after informing the greeter that this is inappropriate. The staff did NOT even bother to give updates - just string us (and another group) along though we had only this day on the island. Regarding Ambiance, inside is too cold (aggressively air conditioned) and too loud. Outside seating is lovely. Prices for what they serve are more than the quality, for the most part. I would suggest getting a fish sand-witch close by for a better value and without the aggravation. Otherwise, walk 5 minutes to MISOGI NOODLE BAR - surprisingly good!
Cru is a Must Visit When Coming to ACK
You know you're on island when you're at Cru. The service is always exceptional, the people/yacht watching is second to none, the warm lobster roll has been and still is the best in ACK, the oyster selection is vast, the crab salad with fried chicpeas is the perfect starter and the Cru-Cumber cocktail must be ordered to cheers with and don't skip on the pistachio soft serve ice cream at the end!

CRU is definitely one of the "it" restaurants in Nantucket! We really enjoyed how beautiful the restaurant/location was; our table was by the water and it was so relaxing. As for the food and cocktails, we had some delicious bites including oysters and warm lobster rolls. The food was good, but the service was slow so my lobster roll was soggy when it arrived (bummer); it was yummy though which was the saving grace. Overall, the location alone is worth a visit so I definitely recommend!

I love oysters, and CRU had the absolute best oysters I've ever tried. Nantucket is known for their seafood, and this may be the best establishment to try them. The price is correspondent with the degree of friendly and knowledge service they provide here, in addition to the wonderful view of the sunset and the boat docks. CRU is also the only place on the island that stocks size 8 jumbo shrimp I highly recommend trying them.
Cru is the "it" spot on Nantucket.
You can drive your boat up and park, but call the harbor master first. Parking is not free. We sat outside this time. I have sat indoors before and they keep the doors open and the breeze is incredible, as it is right on the water. The servers are very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. The food comes out very quickly and is delicious. I had a lobster roll. My husband had a cheeseburger. We also shared some little necks and oysters. Most of the tables outside have ample shade. They also had a high chair to accommodate my toddler. The food is priced fairly high, but what isn't on Nantucket?
Was there for late lunch.
Limited menu (1/2 the menu is alcohol). Food and service were average - not worth the cost or 45 minute wait.
Gratuity included but poor service!
Really great lobster roll and menu in general. As soon as the server realized we weren’t ordering a bottle of wine at lunch and only got a couple beers, she stopped paying attention to us. She would literally help the table next to us (so close I could touch it) and ignore us. Then the bill included an automatic 20% tip. Food and vibe are great but their service model leaves a lot to be desired. Our service was not deserving of 20% by any means.
Don’t miss !
The team at CRU is always hustling to make sure you have the best experience. We enjoyed excellent wine, oysters, burgers, shrimp cocktail, soups and bread. Come to CRU if you want to be treated like a VIP and see how it’s done right in ACK !
Omgosh! I have never been so embarrassed.
We stopped at the hostess stand and asked if we could go to the bar . She told us yes. We got to the bar. I had a bottle of water that I placed on the bar. A lady patron next to me informed me that the restaurant did not allow outside beverages and to put it below and I apologized and followed her advice. I told her I was sorry and she told me it was rude. I again apologized and once again she told me it was rude to place a bottle of water on their bar. My husband and I decided at that point to leave. I apologized to the hostess (same hostess) and told her I was sorry that I brought the bottle in. She looked at me and said we don't allow outside beverages. I had the bottle in my hand when we asked her about going to the bar. Would have been nice to have a heads up.

Started with a few good appetizers- crudo and focaccia were delicious. The warm lobster roll was outstanding. Best lobster roll I've ever had. The service we got from Jose was excellent. The Som recommended an excellent rose bottle called Chateau Peyrassol.

Thank you to Liberty and Matias for an AMAZING experience at Cru! We were celebrating our engagement and we felt so special! THANK YOU!
The most amazing food and it is pricey but well worth it!
The most amazing food and it is pricey but well worth it! We we're just planning to have a dozen oysters then going elsewhere for the main dinner. We had the best Nantucket oysters (Fifth Bend and Pocomo Meadow) I've ever tried which made us realize we should just stay to have a full course dinner. We had the best Sommelier who chose a really great French wine. We had the crab cake which was mostly crab versus breading which is the way it's supposed to be. Then we had the Lobster Fra Diavolo and the special which was pasta scallops with caviar. The desserts were divine ice cream and chocolate mousse. The service was very top-notch and the view is a Great view of the port. This is a good place to dine for all occasions.
outrageouy expensive.
Entrees more than $50. And yet they won't seat you until everyone in your party shows up. Tacky. And insulting.
Avoid
I truly hate it when restaurants won’t seat you until your entire party shows up, especially when the entrees are $50 or more.

Tons of great seafood options, the food was good but not the best on the island. The farmers salad was probably my fav- simple, fresh- I did find it as too heavily dressed but it was a glutinous salad. The oysters were fresh although I found them super salty, the charcuterie board was a disappointment. The halibut was was a HUGE portion and was good but just too much fish for one person. This definitely seems to be the happening spot in nantucket- it was lively with chatter all around. We found the service a little spotty but it is the end of the season and a busy night.
Great location and lobster rolls.
We stopped in for lunch on a cool, drizzly day for lunch. Loved the location and were seated in the back bar area right by windows, which we enjoyed. The place was busy and the tables all occupied. I guess we were lucky to walk in without reservations and be seated immediately (well it was last week of September). Our server was a pleasant and efficient young woman. We wanted Lobster Rolls and Cru has both hot and cold. She told us most love the hot roll. We ordered one of each and split them. Though the cold one was very tasty, the hot one was really good - the winner for sure. We thought service was good. We expected to pay $$$ for the lobster rolls so no surprise. The only negative comment was that the clam chowder we ordered was basically potato soup - full of potato and not much else, though the flavor was good. One other observation - the oysters seemed to be very popular as we saw servers delivering many trays of oysters to other tables while we were there. I regret somewhat we did not try them.
Not one of the “Pretty People.”
This was recommended to us by a family member, and though we enjoyed our (very expensive) meals (Parker House rolls - $16; REALLY??), the atmosphere was “cold.” We did not feel particularly welcomed, though our waiter was pleasant. It appears this is a place for the well-heeled set to be seen. Clearly, we did not fit into that mold (even though we were properly dressed for the evening).. There seemed to be a glut of staff not doing anything. One young man walked from one dining room, past the bar, into another dining room, and back again. But we never saw him doing anything. He did bring our dessert, which he plopped on the table and left again. The view would have been very pretty had it not been pouring rain (not the fault of the restaurant); it is waterside, at the end of the wharf where the ferry comes in. Not worth the view, 7nless you have money to burn.

I wish there were zero stars -been going here since Ropewalk days. this place now caters to ferry trade and billionaires alike. so yesterday for over 160 dollars-my daughter got 3 squash ravioli and a martini, I got 1/2 dozen local oysters and a cup of cold clam chowder that was inedible-ice cold. there's 20 percent gratuity charged-I didn't add more as I usually do -so disappointed in a rainy day and it was my birthday and and and -it sucked. proceed with caution-I miss the rope walk and decent service and food.

Great setting along the docks, delicious food but the bloody Mary's we ordered before the food took forever to come out, they finally appeared just as our food was served. We asked the server about our drinks before we ordered the meal but someone messed up in getting the drinks out before the meal, for $21 drinks we expected they would do better.

before I even talk about the food, I have to call out the INCREDIBLE service here! we felt so taken care of, the service was absolutely amazing. the food was great, we had the lobster roll, salmon, and a few apps. don't miss the fried clams! last, we got to sit outside by the water and it was so beautiful. can't recommend this place enough! will definitely be back.
Great service.
Fresh seafood. Raw oysters, clams etc. Very pricey. Drinks were good. Fantastic location and view.

4.5 stars I round to 5. Love the raw bar, drinks, ambience, location, and service. Their lobster roll is unreal too - our server said best on the island and it did not disappoint. (don't bother with the mussels though. It's just okay.)
Great for a drink that's about it as view is scenic.
Food very average and waaay over priced. $15 for rolls and butter, $32 for a burger , $20 for clam chowder Hey if you want to pay 2-3X more than everywhere else go for it.
Amazing cocktails and unmatched views.
The back bar is the best! Food was incredible - the lobster pasta dish was the best
Cocktails & Oysters
We visited Cru while having a little time before catching a ferry. We ordered cocktails and oysters. Can’t go wrong with either! Staff was very attentive but we didn’t require much of their service. Patio is located at the end of a marina and has some good boat/dock watching.
I’ll exhaust all the other higher caliber eateries in Nantucket before returning.
An excellent venue and atmosphere, food came quickly, our server on the other hand, seemed more interested in chatting with his coworkers than attending to his guests. We sat with menu’s closed and made eye contact several times, before he finally came around, this happened again when we were trying to get our check and leave. I had a the lobster pasta, which while bountiful in lobster, was so overpowered by it’s peppery ‘kick’ that the sweetness of the lobster meat was lost in the sauce and buried by the ‘kick.’ My associates pasta dish ‘tasted only of spinach’ (her words). Others in my party had the Halibut, and the steak, they were without complaint. THe bread was good, though obnoxiously priced. The fried clams were excellent. The service certainly reduced the experience.
DON'T GO!
Go elsewhere. It's too loud in the dining room to have a conversation. The waiter took our credit card and overcharged it $200 dollars. The manager took the bill and came back and said we weren't charged at all. WRONG. We had to argue with him to correct it. We were given a half hearted apology. Honestly, the location is great, the view is nice, the food is decent, but the customer service is beyond horrible. Millie's on the other side of the island is much better and their service is wonderful!
Appalling Remarks From Barback
My friends, sister, and I had traveled out to the island this past weekend to celebrate my sister's birthday. We chose to ring her special day by grabbing drinks at Cru close to midnight, and the service was less than exceptional - appalling rather. We were at their smaller bar, towards the back of the restaurant and one of my friends had gotten the attention of the bar back, thinking he was a bartender. This young, blonde boy proceeded to snap back at my friend saying, "Have you seen me make an f***ing drink or touch a f***cking bottle all night?! F*** off!" As a bartender myself, this behavior from any staff towards a customer in the hospitality industry is simply unacceptable - especially somewhere like Cru. What was supposed to be a special night at Cru for my sister's birthday ended poorly, and we went elsewhere.
Great vibe
We had dinner at Cru last week, the best lobster roll and the fries were outstanding with a really good aioli. Good wine selection and service was very good.very lively place on the water.
Doesn’t live up to recommendation
We found this restaurant overrated and overpriced. Nice location but not worth it. The service could use improvement. We wouldn’t recommend for dining.
The View is Worth the Money
Every time I go to Nantucket, I go to Cru (and I've been going for years before it was Cru). It is expensive but worth the view from the back bar. If I can grab a table near the window, I get a bowl of their great chowder & a glass of white wine. They're both good. This time we sat at the bar, grabbed a drink & also drank in the view that's at the end of the Straight Wharf. Always a treat. Just too expensive for a whole dinner for me but if you can afford it, treat yourself. At least I know they have good chowder, wine & burgers. Such a relaxing view

I am an oyster lover & Cru has the best Ousters I have ever had! Everything was reasonably priced for how great the food was. The friend fish sandwich was amazing quality! Highly recommend it here for the great location right on the water, but for the great food as well
Have wanted to dine here for years.
Finally my wife and I went on Columbus weekend '22. Seems easier to get a table after 9p on a weekend. Great service and cocktails. The vibe in the main dining room near the bar is like a pulsating loud dance club. Difficult to talk to your dining companion(s). I wish Cru would wait until 10pm to crank the music, not before. Regardless, food was great. We had oysters and squid, salads and drinks. Made a dinner of their small plates and appetizers. Worth a Resy! I wouldn't return though - too darn loud.

I loved the location, right on the water, and the food was delicious. I had the lobster roll and fries- the best lobster roll I have ever had. The service was excellent- my server Grover was attentive and super helpful but not intrusive. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Another delicious meal at Cru this weekend! While all my girlfriends loved their buttery lobster rolls, being gluten free certainly didn't mean I had to miss out - I just ate the lobster on a salad and oh-my-goodness was it Heaven! Cru's dedicated fryer for gluten free fries made it easy to enjoy a meal I always loved there before I had to go gluten free. Before heading to Nantucket, I was afraid of eating out and if I'd be able to find safe places for meals with friends. But I didn't get sick at all, so I can safely say Cru took this seriously. It was a dream to be able to enjoy many meals with my girlfriends, thanks Cru and Nantucket!

Newer hot-spot on the island, the great location is easily walkable and nestled at the end of one of the wharfs along downtown. Beautiful views of the harbor, and delicious seafood-focused menu!
Just a really cool spot in general.
The food is great and the drinks are even better. Each time I've sat at the bar and the service was great.Perfect spot to grab drinks for a date. Before or after stopping at Cru you can walk the docks and check out the beautiful boats as well.

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Cru Nantucket at 6 PM the same day.

That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.

* Peter can now talk to FulfilledThread16 for any questions Peter may have as FulfilledThread16 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
