Beautiful location and wonderful meal
Breathtakingly beautiful location for a sunset dinner. 21 courses and wine flight served by friendly and welcoming staff Some of the detail on the courses was incredible and we loved them all. Our evening may have been spoilt when the ‘Princess’ American woman on the table adjacent to us asked for curtain be drawn to prevent sun on her face - which immediately stopped half of our magnificent view in its tracks. She clearly didn’t care. We had been sitting watching the wonderful sunset with our dark glasses on. Yes, it was a majestical sunset so why complain!!! All she had to do was move to a seat on her table so she wasn’t blinded! It really did spoil beginning of our meal. It turns out Chef has asked staff never to close the curtains so they should stick to that. Fortunately when we asked for curtain to be opened, it was done and she covered her face dramatically 🤣🙄. My son gently suggested she moved to opposite side of her table 😌 When you’re paying the prices we paid, we don’t want the experience being spoiled by a prima Donna. Almost was. Photo shows empty table before they arrived so you can see the view as was. In terms of difference between this and some 3* we’ve been to would be bathrooms and some very minor service differences. We loved the service here. Sometimes 3* can be a bit overbearing so not an issue for us.
Great setting , great service but non flavoured food
Great service , great setting , great presentation but TOTALY UNTASTY FOOD AT A Ridiculous PRICE. WHO gave them 2 Michelin stars what are we missing . I have been to many different Michelin restaurants but this one is not worthy.
How we spent our day in Matosinhos
As an architect I have been wanting to come here for years. I feel so lucky to have spent an afternoon in such a lovely and inspiring dining room enjoying one of the great meals of my life. We had the 21 course tasting (knowing we wanted to spend the afternoon here). It’s incredible to watch the room change through the course of the day while the waves crash outside. The adventure of 21 courses allows you to full experience the imagination and narrative carefully orchestrated by chef Rui Paula and the staff. It’s an adventure, a voyage and we were in for the ride. Everything was delicious and the staff couldn’t have been more wonderful. It was a highlight of our time in Porto. Side note: combine your lunch here with a swim a Siza’s beach pool, Piscina das Mares, a short walk away. After your meal, walk around the restaurant and take in the view from the neighboring chapel and marvel at one of the great sites of Matosinhos and Porto.
Superlatives fall short in describing this remarkable seafood experience with outstanding wines, location, and service
We were looking for a special place to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. What a remarkable experience worthy of the event. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like special guests. We had the 21 course tasting menu with wine pairing. Sounds like a lot, but the size and pace were just perfect. The location is stunning and it was fun to periodically walk around to check things out as the sun set. We enjoyed the explanations of the courses and wines and the little "activities" that sometimes went along with them. But most of all we enjoyed the preparations of the seafood and how Carlos, our sommelier, introduced us to the extensive panoply of Portugal wines. Truly one of our very best meals.
If I could give six stars
“A meal to remember” is a cliché, but truly not here. This restaurant is unlike any, a true one of a kind in all facets; location, design, views, service and food. This is fine dining with playful beautiful dishes, but without distractions or noise from unnecessary deconstructions. I also want to commend the tremendous service from the full staff, and Emmanuel in particular, who went to great lengths to ensure a magic moment. A meal we will never forget!

Simply one of the three best dining experiences of my lifetime. Absolutely perfect in every area-food, service, view, interior-everything was perfect!
A perfect experience
Its hard to find the right words for Casa de Chá da Boa Nova. The Restaurant itself is a beautiful piece of architecture that blends perfectly into its environment. The table we were given had a stunning view of the sunset throughout the evening that accompanied us during our 21 course menue. The menue itself was in a class of its own. Each course was a perfectly balanced in texture and taste and beautiful to look at. The wine pairing was excellent as well with a wide variety of portuguese wine and a few selected wines from other countries. We loved the little playful touches throughout the experience, with a little game of taste at the beginning and a few comic pages telling a little story about the restaurant. The service was accommodating, with a great sense of humour that gave the whole evening a very sympathetic touch, that is lovely to see in this kind of fine dining experience. We never felt unwelcome or out of place. All in all, we had an absolutely fantastic evening at Casa de Chá da Boa Nova, one we will remember for a very long time. Many thanks to the entire team for a perfect experience.
Wow. Phenomenal food and experience
I can't say enough about this restaurant. This is a meal you'll remember ten years later. First the setting is gorgeous on the ocean waves crashing with floor to ceiling windows. The service is superb attentive and informative and all with a smile. You really feel welcomed by Emmanuel and his entire staff. And then, the food. Wow. My wife and I had the 12 course tasting menu. Flavor explosion, am incredible range of tastes expertly curated? This meal is an experience and I can't recommend this restaurant enough. Book it.
Exceptional setting, delectable cuisine, attentive service
We arrived on a rainy, windswept day for lunch at this stunning, landmark venue. Decided to go with the 21 course tasting menu. It was well worth it. The staff were wonderful, and the dramatic ocean views complemented the seafood-based courses. Ignore the negative reviews and give this place a try for a special occasion. Well done to the chef and personnel. Hope you get that third star.
The most perfect lunch to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday
I had planned a surprise trip for my wife and I to visit Porto to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday. I had visited this building many years ago when it was a tea house and upon realising it had changed to be a 2 star Michelin restaurant, I knew this would be the perfect place to celebrate this special occasion. I decided we would go for lunch and I am very happy with this decision. The building is beautiful and views from the table over the sea and the waves were incredible and I felt it is best to see this during the day and experience a 'sunset' elsewhere in the city. Our reservation was at 13:30, which I was advised was the right time if we wanted to experience the 12 course tasting menu. There were not many other tables in at that time (it was a Tuesday lunchtime), and I think it made our experience seem even more special, almost like we had the place to ourselves and the staff were solely there to serve my wife and I. The food, was amazing; presentation, flavours and textures. The service was precise and above anything we have ever experienced. We were made to feel welcomed and special. Whilst this is very high end dining, we did ever feel it was pretentious. We felt relaxed and open to the experience. Without doubt, I would urge you to visit and experience this for yourself.

This is the best dining experience we've ever had. The food was not only over the top, the presentation and the service were incredible. We've eaten in some of the best restaurants in the world and this whole experience was the best we've ever had. Off The Chain!!!
Simply a wonderful experience
We had the best dinner experience in our lives. We did 12 takes, and each one was special; perfect presentation and wonderful flavors. The service could not have been better; on time, professional, with humor and knowledge. Well worth the price.
Excellent food and great experience
Having tried other two star restaurants in Portugal, we drove up to Porto from Lisbon just to try this place, and it exceeded our expectations. Whilst technically just as accomplished as other two star kitchens, there is a Portuguese home cooked warmth to the dishes and the service that we really enjoyed. The 'game' of discovery was a highlight, but also the sea bass, which seems slightly overcooked until you combine it with the other ingredients - very clever - and also the squid, prawn, shrimp and lobster were amazing. In fact there was no underwhelming dish in the 21 moments. Service was great. Sommelier was wonderful to talk to even though we are too lightweight for a full wine pairing. Thank you :)
Once in a lifetime experience!
An amazing experience in every way. The restaurant is stunning without trying too hard with the backdrop of the ocean and the the rocks as the star. The service is outstanding highlighted by Carlos as the sommelier. We felt like we had a history lesson of Portugal throughout. Oh yeah, the food was amazing. We chose the 21 course tasting menu. And the food tasted as good as it looked. It was magical. We chose the 11 wine pairings to go with it. The pours were very generous!! This is a dining experience of a lifetime. If you have dinners on your bucket list, make sure this one is on it!
Architecture and food at the best
An incredible building and an incredible meal. We chose the 12 course tasting menu, instead of the 22 course version, and every course was a delight. Service was excellent, wine was superb, and a great example of how fish can be so interestingly prepared and presented.
Highly recommended, book in advance of several months.
What a tasty delight this place was. Option of 6, 12 or 21 course degustation. Fantastic story with each course or ‘moment’ created from the sea. Exceptional with breath taking scenery.
Nice but with a few observations
Interesting location by the ocean a good distance from the city give the restaurant its own ambiance. We took the large menu a generally the 21 tastings was of high quality and interesting tasting. However, when we left the restaurant it was not our opinion that it been one of the two star visits. Difficult to point to the exact course as food and location was excellent. Likely a combination of a uninteresting wine pairing and a staff that did not give full attention..

2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* FluffyStar64, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* FluffyStar64 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to FluffyStar64 for any questions Peter may have as FluffyStar64 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* FluffyStar64 now uses their connections at Casa de Chá da Boa Nova to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If FluffyStar64 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, FluffyStar64 receives the $200 reward which is credited to FluffyStar64's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Casa de Chá da Boa Nova!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
