Everything about Medina Cafe was wonderful! We all really
Everything about Medina Cafe was wonderful! We all really enjoyed our food, service was great, drinks were delicious. a must try in the Vancouver area!
Delicious, Tasty and super friendly
Super nice people, very delicious food (we‘ve had breakfast) and stylish location. The waffles and the bread are self made and with some creative combinations to eat. the coffee is also very good. We did like the place. Only negative point: it is super loud. Some noise canceling installations would really help.
The food was so delicious.
I tried the fricassée and everything was perfect. There are two pieces of tender meat below the eggs that you'll love. Coffee is pretty good as well. Not to mention the waffles and the toppings. Everything very well sugar balanced. My wife tried the mushrooms fricassée and it was perfect as well, however, I'm more into meat than mushrooms. The service was good and the place very beautiful.
Food was outstanding.
We were walk ins, 45 minute wait. We walked to the HMart down the street and bought face cream while we waited. Asked for the best seller and it did not disappoint!
The ONLY place to eat breakfast in Vancouver!
This restaurant was so good, we ate there on both of our days in Vancouver! Breakfast options were amazing (and the waffles!!!!). The quality of the food was very good. Service….exceptional. Get there 1/2 hour before it opens to avoid the line.
Excellent Breakfast/brunch!
My wife and I ate here with another couple for the first time this week and were not disappointed. Two of us had the Fricassée dish, one had the Sandwich au Porc and another had the waffles. I was able to try all the dishes and they were equally excellent. I honestly have nothing negative to say about the restaurant. The food was fresh, flavourful and perfectly cooked. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Wanted to try them out after seeing liege waffles on their menu, but it was 45ish mins wait time for Sunday brunch, hubby and kiddo dint wanted to wait, so got liege waffles and cappuccino to go. Cappuccino was perfectly made, living in Austin, Tx. I'm bit spoiled when it comes to cappuccino and most of the times I find difficulty finding decent cup of cappuccino when we travel but not this place, especially when craving for a decent cup of coffee after a week long cruise trip. Liege waffles, I say 4star, it dint had those Pearl sugar, and it should have a little bit crunch but it dint, though it was thick, chewy and sticky, but was very good but not solid 5star, definitely recommend this place for waffles and coffee.
I went at 8am on a weekday and there was no wait.
The service was great and the Paella was delicious! Great spot for breakfast or brunch.
Cool spot
Grabbed a light lunch here. Superb ambience, with attentive and friendly service. Drinks and food were tasty. Wished we‘d visited here a bit more while we were in town.
Amazing breakfast spot.
. food was outstanding and so was service. Nice and clean!! The waffles were the icing on the cake.. they were so delicious.. great spot if you're in the area !!

Medina Cafe is a Mediterranean fusion restaurant that has won many Best of, Where to Dine, and Vancouver Restaurant Awards, and we just found out why. The breakfast that stood out the most was the Wolves Breakfast served with two pouched eggs, flatiron steak, bacon, two types of sausage, and focaccia with some veggies. It was all excellent, even the pickled cauliflower. It was full when we arrived, but there is always first come first serve bar seating.
Great breakfast or brunch in downtown Vancouver.
This place is fantastic for breakfast! The kids loved their waffles with dipping sauce. My wife’s cassoulet was to die for. I had the eggs with mushroom. So earthy and good. Great vibe and service. The coffees and hot chocolates were great. While a bit pricey, if you eat here a bit later, the amount of food can stretch for both breakfast and lunch.
Excellent, original, classic
Best breakfast in a long time. I had the steak and eggs with a Caesar. Will absolutely visit again. It was worth the lineup on a Sunday morning.

You'll have to wait very long if you come at noon since many customers are here for their brunches. We love everything here, though it's long wait.
Medina Cafe continues to earn its spot on every Vancouver
Medina Cafe continues to earn its spot on every Vancouver brunch list, for good reason. The menu draws inspiration from French and Mediterranean staples, but gives each dish its own thoughtful twist. This time I went with the fricassée. It's not a traditional fricassée in the classic French sense, but it's a great dish nonetheless. A rustic, rich tomato base anchors it, layered with roasted potatoes, sautéed onions, cheese, and tender braised short ribs. The arugula and apple strings on top bring a hit of brightness and just enough sweetness to keep the whole thing in balance. Hearty, flavorful, and well put together. Service was excellent. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knew the menu well, she was helpful without hovering. The space has a bit of gritty Parisian charm to it--worn-in tile, high ceilings, and a comfortable bustle. It's lively without feeling chaotic, which is no small feat during peak brunch hours.
Brunch at Medina Cafe, a true OG in downtown Vancouver.
I went with the Fricassée and it was packed with flavour (tender braised short ribs, crispy potatoes, caramelized onions, melty smoked cheddar, and the perfect sunny eggs). Finished it off with a Liège waffle dipped in dark chocolate. A classic for a reason. Last time I visited Medina Cafe was around 7-8 years ago and I hadn't gone back because I had a terrible experience. I had visited them as a group of 4 and (1) they messed up half of our orders, and (2) they brought out my order 25-30 minutes after everyone else because they had served my order to the wrong table and they didn't realize it until I asked them why I hadn't received my order a few times. The first one to two times, they said it was on its way. Later they realized what had happened and they just apologized. My order came after my entire group had already finished their food. This time around I had a better experience. But it seemed like the garçons were all over the place because (1) our garçon/server wouldn't write our orders down so after every order she would come back a few minutes later to confirm it (happened for our drinks, main, and dessert), and (2) we had two different people come and take our drink orders because they weren't aware someone else had already taken our order. Parking Food 4.5/5 Service 3.5/5 (also, the outdoor heaters ran out of gas and it took them a while to come and replace it) Ambiance
Fabulous breakfast spot with great atmosphere
Staying only a few minutes' walk, we saw this place on TripAdvisor and decided to give it a try for breakfast. The place was quite full. However, the waiter found us a table for 2. After purusing the menu for a few minutes. we made our choices. I had the salmon fume and my wife the sandwich au Pore. Both dishes were well presented and extremely tasty. The waiter was friendly, attentive, and professional. It's well worth a visit.
Very good breakfasts
Really very good breakfasts and we will be returning. I had the Tagine which is a take on shakshuka but was too spicy and not anything like what a traditional tagine should be. Nonetheless it was somewhat enjoyable. My husband had the cassoulet and that was very good. Coffees were excellent as were the waffles. Service excellent. I know I’ve given 4 stars but it’s only because I found the tagine overpowered by spices. Definitely would recommend and shall be returning whilst in Vancouver
Perfect Brunch Place
Great brunch place! I ordered the Cassoulet - this is the one with sausage, bacon, and eggs - my favorite for brunch. For dessert it was the Liège Style Waffle (one of the best waffles that I ever tasted) My meal was very filling and most of all delicious. The ambiance is awesome like i was transported to Europe like I am eating a meal in Vienna, Austria. Although there was a waiting time - yes, the place is full of diners (says something of the quality of food here) we were able to get a table after 15 minutes. I highly recommend this place for a proper brunch or meal. Wonderful restaurant!
Magical coffee and scrumptious GF English muffins, eggs with herbs were great
We wanted breakfast that was great for everyone and gluten free for me. They have a great location and vibe, fantastic service, artistry in their plating and magic in their coffee. The whole breakfast was delicious, locally integrated suppliers of their particular choices made it feel like a very Vancouver start to the day. The waffles and berries (not GF) were a hit, as was the risotto, as were the meaty sides. The bacon was very thick, and prepared well, which I add because I was expecting the thinly sliced variety, but everyone else thought it was great.
Delightful Afternoon at Cafe Medina
We were lucky to stop by Cafe Medina later in the afternoon, so there was only a short wait for bar seats. It was so fun watching the different drinks get made right in front of us. We enjoyed the pearl couscous and waffles, and the Moroccan Maria was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this spot for a delightful culinary experience!
You Need These Waffles In Your Life
Look, all I'm saying is if you're technically having breakfast with Owen Wilson (because he's sitting 2 tables away) then you've clearly chosen the right place to have breakfast. My wife and I visited Medina on the morning of our last day visiting Vancouver. It was around the corner from our hotel and the menu looked promising. We cursed ourselves for not doing the "reservation by donation" option when we showed up early enough on a Saturday morning when we discovered a crowd and an up to 45 minutes wait. (The only way they take reservations is if you make a donation to a charity via their website.) No matter, we had time and got ourselves on the list. The wait wasn't too long and the host was very attentive to the waiting area so we didn't feel lost or ignored in the crowd. She also, after being seated and noticing our server had some delaying complications at another table, came over without being prompted and stepped in to take our order. We felt really well taken care of. Everything we had was fantastic. The Tea Sparrow English Breakfast tea service was spot on for my wife. The coffee was on point...excellent even. (Sadly, never a guarantee at breakfast restaurants...they got it right here...as strong as it needed to be.) We both ordered single "liege waffles"...Belgian style waffles just don't get better than what we were brought...they're inexpensive too...though they can go up quite about with the available add ons which are plentiful...I opted for maple syrup (when in Canada...) and butter (when having waffles...) I really loved it and could see myself gorging myself into a waffle stuper eating liege waffle after leige waffle. Thankfully I had a cruise ship to get on so we avoided that crisis over over-waffleization. (But I could easily fly back for more!) We also loved the Roasted Potatoes, Smoked Cheddar with Lemon Aioli. The potatoes couldn't have been more perfectly cooked and were an indulgent delight with the smoked cheddar they were mixed with. (The aioli came on the side which is good as I'm not a big fan of mayonnaise of any kind.) Considering the volume of available and delicious looking vegetarian options on the menu, it's a miracle we got out after only waffles and potatoes...but, Harissa Burger (vegetarian option available), Paella, egg dishes and couscous...plus the fantastic coffee and thoughtful drinks of every kind...plus the really well done design and atmosphere of this place...it's no wonder it's Owen Wilson's choice for brunch...it definitely would be ours over and over if we lived in Vancouver.

On a quick visit to Vancouver we asked our waiter at dinner
On a quick visit to Vancouver we asked our waiter at dinner if he had any recommendations for breakfast he said Cafe Medina. He said there will be a line out the door but trust me it's worth it. Well we got there 15 minutes before they opened there was indeed a line down the sidewalk we hopped in line and were so lucky to get the last table inside. However they do accept reservations and they seat those parties first. When you read the reviews saying they licked their plates this is not an exaggeration! We order a couple of the waffles for the table (first come first serve so get there early) and I had the frittata with bacon on the side and literally ate every last bite of everything. The flavor was out of this world. Definitely worth the wait!
Lunch in Vancouver, BC
Came here for lunch Wednesday and it was packed! We left our name and number—we waited about 30 mins. Got two seats at the bar! Wow the food here was delicious!! The Fricassee was well flavored and the Wolves Breakfast had a great variety of meats. Highly recommend both dishes. Cocktails were great especially the Coffee Spike. Service was good as well!

Randomly decided to try this place (no reservations), but luckily, I got a seat at the bar right away. Busy with that brunch crowd - if you're rolling in a party plan ahead. Vibes are amazing. Service is top notch. Food is excellent. Locals are amazing also. Good Eats for sure!
Ok...so I'm gonna keep this short and sweet. Yes, the food
Ok...so I'm gonna keep this short and sweet. Yes, the food is as good as they say it is. Yes, their famous Lavender Latte does taste like a trip to the spa. Yes, their service is worth the wait. I love the fact that...these guys give you a time estimate, take your number and text you 10 min ahead of time and you can just get there. Saves you from waiting in line, as in that neighbourhood, there are lots of places you can chill until you get in. Medina Cafe is like someone who is a 10 and stunning, and you wanna take them out on a date. You can. You will. You spend $$$. And you'll do it all over again. Gladly. That's Medina.
My fav brunch place in Vancouver rather all of Canada.
Every trip I definitely stop by this place. Love thier savory dishes and no trip is complete without their belgian waffles with their sauces - dark chocolate, raspberry & white chocolate pistachio rose water. This time we tried their eggs with oyster mushrooms and harissa burger and boy they were delicious. Love their house latte and have ordered spiked coffee as well several times. Service is amazing. Food takes a while but its made fresh and is well worth the wait. They have ample indoor seating and some outdoor seating as well. You can make reservations online by donating $10 per person or stop by and be prepared to wait. Highly recommend and its been almost 8yrs and this place never disappoints!
SOOO SOOO GOOD!! Definitely shouldn't miss.
The brunch, ambiance, everything was phenomenal. We went on a thursday and surprisingly there were quite a bit of people waiting. We were told an approximate 45 minute wait, but it turned into 10 min since many prior to us had left. Champignon (mushroom dish), waffle with the pistachio/white chocolate dip, salmon toast, and the beef short rib sandwich were on our order that day. I would say beef short rib sandwich is an absolute must if you come after 11. If you come prior they still have a similar one with 2 sunny side up eggs. The champignon dish was great too- very special, although I do wish it came with another focaccia since one wasn't truly enough to dip. Waffles and salmon toast, both fantastic as well. It's a definite must if you're in the area. I would probably just drive to vancouver just to eat here!
Very good food, excellent ambiance, eclectic food options.
Worth the wait. It is recommended to make reservations through their web site
We enjoyed a very delicious breakfast at this cafe.
Their outdoor seating is great and the staff were all very attentive. Their coffee was exceptional, we tried their mocha. I had the fricasee which was loaded with flavor and cooked perfectly. Their waffles were a fun treat to enjoy as well. I highly recommend this place as a highlight in Vancouver.
So good.
I had several of the skillets, waffles, coffee with the coffee spike. Its amazing. A must stop by if you are in Vancouver

My favorite brunch place in town with unique food and presentation. Superb service and ambience. I love how they serve on cast iron. Value 4/5 Atmosphere 5/5 Service 5/5 Quality 5/5 19/20
Excellent coffee, energetic city vibe
If you are looking for good coffee, this is the place. Then add in a great menu and food, friendly and extremely efficient service, and an energetic inner city vibe and this is a place that will be a destination for us on every trip to Vancouver. TIP: allow at least 30mins wait list time (we were there on a Friday morning) We left our number and they text us when ready, so we could return when ready (far better than standing in line!)
Fabulous food and atmosphere. What a beautiful start to the day
We googled and found this little hole in the wall. So impressed!!! From the moment we walked in the door. Friendly and helpful staff. Very busy! But coffee and breakfast was great, snd the waffles too. Price was great too
Worth Queuing For
We got lucky, because Cafe Medina is right opposite the Kingston Hotel, where we were staying. It opens at 9 on a Saturday, and you're best getting there a bit before that and queuing. It's well worth the wait. When they opened, they did something I've not seen before, and let all the people who had children with them go in first. We don't have kids, but I thought this was a lovely idea! We got a regular table, and my wife ordered "Les Boulettes" (spicy Moroccan lamb meatballs), while I had the Pork Sandwich on GF bread. The food was great, and so was the service ... our waitress Krissy was like a human dynamo, only more friendly! Plates arrived and departed without me seeing her! Often, you find places that are hyped something of a let-down ... this one really isn't.
Not worth the wait.
Terrible for the ‘ratings’. How can you mess up one scrambled egg and a piece of bacon? Tasteless egg ( can I have some salt at least)…?… and nothing but fat for bacon? Would not stand in line for this again.
Cafe Medina, Vancouver Cafe
We went to Cafe Medina for breakfast. Everyone found something that pleased them. The food was very good and the staff was cheerful and professional
Cafe Medina offers a nice change of breakfast flavors
We stopped here for breakfast, as it was close to our hotel. It was the perfect antidote to a rainy day. The servers couldn't have been more gracious while seating us, explaining the menu and serving. We found the coffee to be exceptional - especially my salted caramel latte. If it's possible, my husband enjoyed and inhaled the paella. They were able to modify their Saumon Fume for me and make it gluten-free. Loved the combined flavors of the fried egg, smoky salmon cream cheese, onion jam and more. It was a nice change from classic breakfast options. If you're open to a breakfast/brunch departure - try Cafe Medina. Get there early, however, as it's popular and somewhat small.
Beautiful, tasty food - great location.
This is a centrally located restaurant, near the end of Robson Street, and easy to find. We went there for breakfast and the food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Also, the staff were very friendly and attentive. Can see why it is rated so highly.
Brekky in Vancouver
What a great find for a late breakfast/brunch in the heart of Vancouver! Our hotel concierge recommended it to us when we were late rising and still wanted to have breakfast. Great coffee. Innovative egg dishes. The breakfast Tagine was a tasty and SPICY start to the day. Relaxed and upscale ambience.
Medina for the win!
Always my go to restaurant for brunch or lunch in Vancouver. Consistently on point! Service is great, food is delicious and vibe is always on point.
Unique Brunch Experience in Vancouver
We dined at Cafe Medina soon after disembarking from our Alaskan cruise. There was an hour wait to eat inside but no wait if we dined at the picnic tables outside the restaurant. We chose al fresco dining with no wait! The menu is unique and interesting. We ordered the Liège Style Waffles with salted caramel sauce, the Wolves Breakfast for Two, and Dark Chocolate Mochas (see photos). We were not disappointed by our choices and even wished we had ordered more than 2 waffles. The menu descriptions were accurate & helpful in making a selection. By the time we were eating, we heard that the wait time had increased to 2 hours so this must be a very popular place.
Great breakfast cafe
Ate breakfast here during a business trip to Vancouver. Nice breakfast menu and very pleasant staff. Nice outdoor seating too. I had the granola with fresh fruit, which was tasty and plentiful. Will gladly come back.
Great food with lively atmosphere.
Make reservations though especially to get a table.
Super cute for a brunch date or brunch with a friend.
The restaurant has a NYC/European vibe, and the food is quite good! Definitely recommend the Belgian waffles with different toppings and their casseroles. One of my favourites in Vancouver.
Excellent breakfast/ brunch experience
Cafe Medina has a well deserved reputation as being Vancouver's premiere restaurant for breakfast and brunch. Expect to wait for a table if you don't have a reservation. Our wait, on a cool Friday morning, was 20 minutes. Our meals were served hot and were delicious. Our server, Kevin, was warm, friendly and professional and even had a moment for a welcoming chat. He obviously enjoys his job because he could be seen chatting with other customers and members of the staff. He was ably assisted by Charlotte and Guilherme; who both made time for a few words at our table. The decor and atmosphere at Medinas are eclectic & fun; it seems to have a distinct Belgian flair. I recommend this cafe as a special place to visit when in Vancouver
Food mwah! Service mwah! Ambiance CHEFS KISS!Been here
Food mwah! Service mwah! Ambiance CHEFS KISS!Been here twice now. Only downside is the possible wait -- but go sit at the bar
Vancouvers best brunch spot
Bring your appetite because the food here is amazing. I also cannot rate the staff high enough either. So attentive, knowledgeable and the we never waited long for our food. We booked online for a fee but it was refunded after our visit otherwise you will need to line up for a table and it does get busy so get there early
-parking 2 blocks east is $2 hour (by public library)- wait
-parking 2 blocks east is $2 hour (by public library)- wait time was 10 minutes at 9:10am- host was super friendly- server was too notch to accommodate any requests or changes- food wait time was 40 minutes once west- place was full- if you have a large body, it will be tight squeeze to sit by the window- I ordered the Frittata $20, it's really just an omelette. It came in a hot sauce pan and appeared to be a thick omelette but was just a regular omelette. I left hungry, wouldn't order it again. They have another item call (breakfast for 2) but it's really a item for one hungry person- not sure if I'd return- had the lemonade Soda, came full of ice with limited juice so I sent it back for one with no ice- very clean- atmosphere is really nice- though some tables are close (window) the conversations are still very private
