I've been to Bella Piatti only once before, but just went again recently so I've decided to post a review. I only ordered the Gemelli Al Pomodoro, which was the same thing I ordered when I initially visited. I'm a vegetarian so this is only of the only options I was able to order. But in my opinion, it's very good. It's a very cute spot for a date night. I just think they need to add a few more vegetarian friendly things on their menu; possibly a wider variety of vegetarian pastas.
Attentive bartender, though it is clearly for locals.
We were bumped from an open spot at at the bar and smooshed against the corner for a "reserved" duo that never showed up. The puréed soup was delicious but had butter. The homemade ricotta was mediocre in that it was somewhat flavorless.
I can't say enough about how fabulous our dinner experience
I can't say enough about how fabulous our dinner experience was at Bella Piatti. While visiting the Birmingham area for a quick weekend getaway, we dined here two nights in a row. It was conveniently located across from our hotel. My husband absolutely loved the pork chop and gnocchi. He loved both dishes so much that he ate the exact same thing the second night. The gnocchi was the best I have ever had. The texture and accompanying sauce were divine. I also enjoyed the puff pastry stuffed with Italian sausage, bechamel and truffle served with a little side of fresh baby arugula and shaved fennel. The cauliflower soup they had for Saturday night special was delightful. The food was top notch and all of the staff we encountered were great too. Andrea was our server the first night and Abdi was our server the second night. Both were awesome! Super attentive with pleasant personalities. The hostess, Joy was really nice too as well as Emily. As soon as our water got below a certain level, she was right their with refills with a bright smile. Everyone was very nice and we loved the decor and intimate vibe of the restaurant. We will definitely be back. Kudos to Bella Piatti and their wonderful staff for making our dining experience superb!

It had been a long while since I visited Bella but a friend chose it for her birthday- I'm not sure why I stayed away so long: the Branzino was excellent and the service was always on point Outdoor seating on a beautiful day is a plus but make a reservation as they're usually quite busy
Small but comfortable.
Was very busy but the staff was well equipped to handle the load. Food was tasty and well presented.

Quiet, understated and classy restaurant.
Very popular by an upscale crowd. The food is impeccable! Everything that was brought to the table was delicious! We had gnocchi appetizers (highly recommended), calamari in a red seafood broth, pork chop, lamb chops and a cod seafood special. All were fantastic! Tiramisu and chocolate cheesecake finished it off. Not for the faint of heart with the wallet but well worth it.

The staff was absolutely fantastic when our friend had an emergency health incident here last week. Thank you to all of you. We are sorry to have missed our meal of the best Italian food in the area. We'll be back soon.
This is one of my top 3 places to dine, ever.
Remember to call and reserve a table or try your luck at the bar early. They are always busy and for good reason! The food is impeccable. Even the small dishes (antipasti) are wonderful. Two favorites; in the colder months lamb ragu or lamb shank, rich and satisfying. Warmer months the Sea Bass. The Sea Bass we had was in a lemon broth with tiny pea shoots. It was so delicate, buttery texture and cooked to perfection. Have never had Sea Bass as good anywhere. Service is top notch. The staff will go above and beyond to be sure your having a good experience. Owners will visit you too. Being that it is across from our local premier hotel, be ready to get surprise visits from celebrities in town or local celebs. See you soon to share a bottle of cake bread and the chef's stop evening special. You cannot go wrong choosing this local favorite to dine.
Small intimate restaurant setting.
Delicious top notch food. Wound up ordering main courses off the daily menu, wagyu steak and veal chop. Both cooked to perfection with excellent crust flavor. fingerling potatoes were cooked perfectly as well and full of flavor. Puff pastry appetizer was divine, definitely wish we placed a double order. Waiter, Ryan, was knowledgeable and very helpful. When i first called they were booked solid for the day, but then someone cancelled their reservation so we were able to hop on the list. We will definitely be back again.
Food was so amazing.
I got veal medallions and my friend got a twist type of noodles with a red sauce and a ricotta cheese. Place was super cute and the server was super helpful! Will be back!!

Bloomfield. I love Birmingham. This is now one of my "Top Spots" and we will be sure to come here every time I am back in town We'll sources ingredients, created and prepared masterfully. Our waiter was da Bomb. Attentive, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable, informative, and insightful. He gave us his honest opinion, we followed his lead, and nobody was disappointed! Kudos!!! Our table drank great wine from a limited, but very well thought out wine list. A bit noisy, but lively. Eclectic interior. Festive vibe. Thumbs up! D

This place was located right across from our hotel and we decided to have dinner here. Good thing we called because they said they are a reservation only restaurant, but were able to make a reservation for 8:30pm that night. This place stays busy and apparently a lot of famous people dine here. For appetizer we shared the Involtini Di Melanzane. It was good, but the real star of the show was the Garganelli Alla Umbra. This is probably one of the best pastas I have ever had! It was so delicious. For dessert we opted for the cheesecake and tiramisu. I am usually not a tiramisu person, but I did like this one. I am more of a cheesecake fan and unfortunately didn't care for it here. I would come back in heartbeat for that pasta though. If you order anything from here, order that!
Food is delicious - ambiance is perfect.
Unfortunately, our server Merry was very condescending. She scoffed at simple inquires and made the experience very uncomfortable for my family.
Gosh dang, I love Bella Piatti.
The food and waitstaff are always amazing. But the the hostess is off-putting. She has a way of making you feel incredibly unwelcome, even when you have a reservation.. I would like to say that we caught her on an off day, but this has happened with every visit. This time she didn't even acknowledge us. We waited until a serving assistant greeted us, while she just watched. Though we love the romantic setting and the food, I doubt we will come back regularly.
MUCH ADO ABOUT VERY LITTLE
This purports to be an upscale restaurant. It's marginal. A lot of fuss over very little. The one thing upscale about it is ... it's in Birmingham. Beyond that, not so much. The hostess has a real attitude, and it was downhill from there. She needs a lesson in tact. There are so many good places just a stone's throw away in Troy, I would avoid this place.
Tasteless tomato sauce
Did not care for this restaurant at all. The calamari was inedible, like rubber bands with tasteless tomato sauce on it. Salads did not have all the ingredients listed on the menu. Tomatoes would have been ripe in about a week Added protein was four bites. Waitstaff was curt. Would not return
Great Italian restaurant
We went to this restaurant for birthday celebration. Service, food and ambiance were excellent. We ordered Gamberoni di Bosco (shrimps in Marsala sauce), Garganelli ala Umbra (pasta with sausage and truffle oil) and Branzino, and also Ricotta cheesecake for desert. We absolutely loved all the dishes. Highly recommend this place.
i really love this place they accommodated a last minute

Loveddddd everything here! 10/10 would recommend for a girls night or even a romantic couples dinner!
1 star purely for the managers/hosts, joy and Kevin.
If you don't have $100 bills ready for those people, you'll never get a table or even a smile. Fromthe laziness of the host to grab my Carryout sending me into the crowded dining room to grab it to Kevin not seating you on clearly empty tables at 9PM because we didn't have cash to tip him. Very sad since the food is great and servers are great! Joy and Kevin should treat everyone with respect.
Came here for dinner tonight, party of 3.
Had a reservation for 5:30. Was told upon arriving that the table needed to be clear by 7:30 for another reservation. Ok... Ended up being rushed out by waitstaff (trying to clear plates that weren't finished with yet, reminding us the table was needed for another reservation at 7:30, etc). We weren't a walk in, we had our own reservation. Also thought the food was mediocre. Won't be back.
Yesterday, I tried to make a reservation for a group of 12.
They only take parties up to 8 people. That is so ridiculous ! Their loss not mine.

Saw great reviews and location was across the street from the Townsend Hotel. On a Tuesday night, the restaurant was packed. Without a reservation means dinner at the bar. Luckily there was 1 seat left. 1 bartender who also served as wait staff. Kudos to her. Lots of regulars she knew by name. Complimentary crostini came with 3 spreads - was ok. Had the asparagus risotto. Would recommend ordering as is, no protein needed. Well prepared and nice flavors. Would recommend. Don't forget the reservation!
